We’re excited to invite you to this year’s Northern Connection Bull Sale. Be sure to come early and enjoy our traditional Ukrainian lunch — a sale-day favorite and a great opportunity to connect with fellow producers before the action begins.
This event continues to build momentum each year. Not only have the numbers grown again, but the overall quality has taken another step forward. Our early April sale has firmly established itself as a premier source for high-end Simmental and Charolais genetics.
One advantage of a late-season sale is added confidence — your new bull will have been recently semen tested, ensuring he’s ready to go straight to work when he arrives at your ranch.
After viewing the bulls in January, I came away very impressed. The offering is deep in quality and consistency. Whether your program calls for added power and performance or calving ease and maternal strength, you’ll find options here to move your herd forward.
The Champ Simmentals program now moves ahead under Laython’s leadership as he carries on Winston’s passion for the cattle industry. Winston was an integral part of Northern Connection and a valued friend to many. While he will be greatly missed, the Champ brand and the values it represents will proudly continue.
The breeders behind this sale have done an outstanding job preparing these bulls for late-season success. Their commitment to quality and customer service is second to none. Last year, a bull purchased through this sale went to Manitoba and was breeding cows just two days later — a testament to the readiness and durability of this offering.
This is a dedicated group of cattlemen who take pride not only in the bulls they raise, but in the longterm relationships they build with customers across the Prairies.
If you’re unable to attend in person, please reach out to any member of the Transcon team. We are always happy to assist you in finding the right herd sire for your operation.
We look forward to visiting with you on sale day.
Warm regards,
Glenn Norton
Transcon Livestock Corp

This is the first time I’ve ever had to write this part of the story. For 25 years, since the conception of Champ Simmentals, I was always Winnie’s sidekick — his sounding board, his voice of reason, and most importantly, his best friend. He handled this part of the business, and I was always right there beside him.
Without question, this has been the hardest year of our family’s lives. On July 17th, when we lost Winston, our world changed forever. And not just ours — with an engagement ring tucked away in the center console of his truck, Megan, Rowan, and Griffin’s lives changed forever too.
Winston was a true visionary in the cattle business. He dreamed big, talked big, and believed with everything he had. But more importantly, he worked — relentlessly, passionately, and with a determination that very few people will ever understand. He never quit.
Truthfully, Winston faced challenges over the years that would have made most people walk away. The barn fire in 2004 that wiped out 80% of our herd. The catastrophic, undetectable mold in 2016 that cost us 23 bull calves. But through every setback, Winston kept swinging.
As Ty Wilson said at his funeral, “One thing about Winston is that he never stopped swinging — that’s why he’s the Champ.”
So that brings us to now.
How could I quit?
How would selling out ever honor his legacy?
It wouldn’t — and I won’t.

I will do everything in my power to keep the Champ name alive. I owe it to him. I owe it to my family. To our friends. And to the customers who have stood behind us year after year.
Love you, Winston.
I also want to thank everyone who supported us — the more than 600 who attended his funeral, and the 200 who joined online. Your support carried us through.
To the entire Transcon team.
To Jay Good and Don Oberg for speaking on behalf of the cattle industry.
To all the Northern Connection Sale members for standing by our family.
To the crew at MJT Cattle Co. for helping get the bulls weaned, processed, and settled back home.

To L5 Farms, the Lawson family, Ken and Doris Ford and crew, for stepping in whenever needed — and sometimes before we even asked. To those who helped guide me through the many processes Winston always handled — including the staff at the Canadian Simmental Association, Corey Bloder of Blush Rose Simmentals, Brian Valentine. To name a few.
Your support, kindness, and willingness to help meant more than you’ll ever know.
I used to tease Winston about how much time the cattle took. Now I finally understand.
Winston left us with an exceptional set of bulls this year. They are built to perform, to work, and to last — exactly as he demanded.
To all our past bidders and buyers: thank you for believing in the Champ name.
We are still here.
And we’re not done yet.
Sincerely,
Laython Ford

97N is the bull that truly earned the right to carry Winston’s name. He’s a big topped, deep sided herd bull with the look, presence, and structure you expect from a serious Fleck prospect. He came at 102 lbs and weaned off at 878 lbs on September 6th, growing steady and honest from day one.
His dam side carries the dependable strength of the Romano family — cattle known for sound feet, longevity, and doing their job without fuss. On the top side, Double Bar D Wilhelm brings the power and maternal consistency of the Petra cow family, adding depth and reliability to this bull’s pedigree.
Beyond the numbers, 97N represents a lot more to me. The name wasn’t given lightly. This bull stands the way Winston believed a herd bull should stand — strong, proud, and ready to work. 97N is bred to last and bred to leave daughters you’ll want to keep.

Dieselr is a calf that’s hard to miss. Hetro Polled, Dilutor Free— sharp marked, long bodied, and built with natural shape and presence. He hit the ground at 97 lbs. and weaned off at 906 lbs., proving himself every step of the way. He’s sired by FGAF Dollar Shave Club 042F, a Ferme Gagnon bull known for length, muscle expression, and strong maternal influence. That pedigree brings the Passport and Virginia cow families into play — lines that have built a reputation for cows that work and bulls that push down the scale.
On the bottom side, Dieselr goes back to Anchor D Elexis 279E, a cow family appreciated for big volume, good udders, and the ability to bring one heavy in the fall. Anchor D has spent decades building reliable Fleckvieh mother cows, and this calf reflects that kind of depth.
The Dieselr name comes from one of those people who stepped up for me Neil Thiessen one of my best friends, is the owner of Dieselr, and just like this calf packing performance you can find Neil packing performance in your diesel burning bull hauler.
Dieselr has the look, performance, and pedigree strength to develop into a herd bull that earns his place in the cattle business.

Rowan has that color we are looking for in the fleck breed, Cherry red double goggled and not to mention polled. Rowan is off a herd sire Winston raised a few years back Rowan 99k. He carries his dads name due to the spitting image of his father.
Rowan is backed by Champs Keepsakes Arrow. The Keepsake line is one of the oldest cow families we have in the herd. Dating back 25 years ago. This calf out on pasture always had people asking “who’s that guy”.

Onur just like my nephew is an easy come easy go style of calf. A soft made deep gutted calf that moves with ease.
He is sired by SIBELLE POL TWITTER 19K who was purchased by our neighbor Randy Borysiuk at Wild Rose Ranch back in 2023. All of his calves have that same style of moderate build, easy fleshing, easy movement.
Twitter himself is backed by DOUBLE BAR D MANCHESTER on the top side and BBBG BARONESS. I love going through these pedigrees and finding a name like Bar 5 SA Stride that I had the pleasure of seeing years ago while out in Ontario. He impressed me back then and his genetic type comes through on these calves.

Judson is another twitter son that has that soft made deep ribbed style of calf. His structure is built for calving ease, smooth through his shoulders and a tidy polled head.
His mother is no slouch either, SIBELLE ANGELINA 1X. Yes you read that right. This 2010 born momma cow has over 12 calves registered under her name. Proving longevity and reliability. Judson weaned off at nice 712lbs for a February born calf, born at 80lbs.

Romance is another heifer bull candidate with that smooth front shoulders and 86 pound birth weight. He is backed by some of the greats, sired by double bar D united, a bull that has done tremendous work in the industry on the bottom side he is backed by Champs Romance 41G which traces back to Romano, she has always been a great mother cow with incredible feet and structure.

HOMO BLACK, HOMO POLLED
The name says it all when you open the gate and see this calf. Pretty Boy catches your eye like the high school jock who gathers all the girls attention. Pretty Boy moves with ease and has that IT herd bull look. Pretty boy is another Black Rifle son. Black Rifle just doesn’t miss. Whatever cows Winston crossed him to it always works.
WYONNA 71 G is no exception to this rule. She is backed by Double Bar D Herzog on the top side and WNLP WYONNA 11W. If you take a look through this cows pedigree it’s like a Time Machine of some extremely influential names going back to names like SOLWAY ADONIS. Crossing a bull like Rifle to some influential Fleck Genetics brings out the best of both worlds. Pretty boy’s birthweight was an easy calving 96 pounds and a respectable weaning weight of 834 pounds.

HOMO POLLED, DILUTER FREE
Red Rifle, is another calf in our offering sired off of Black Rifle, deep made, wide topped red calf that caught Glenn’s eye on tour and in January, 345 and 687 could have been twins for how similar they are. 345 carries himself with ease with his smooth stride. 345 is backed by another Anchor D cow. This solid stout built low to the ground female has a reputation on our farm of been ageless. As a B model cow, she is showing no signs of slowing down, weaning off 345 at 900 pounds. You can’t ask for much more from a very moderate built female.

HETERO POLLED, DILUTER FREE
Winston helped Remi select Tucker for her 4H cleaver project. From a young age he was handled by my kids.
His easy-going attitude and tremendous growth curve had him tower over Remi on achievement day weighing in at 580 pounds by June 9th and weaning off at 926 pounds on September 6th.
Tuckers mother has tremendous maternal power backed by names like Romano and Dora Lee Native son She knows how to raise a calf. Tucker is sired by MMWK BLACK RIFLE 33K, which in my eyes has been one of the greatest herd sires to walk at Champ Simmentals. Tucker carries so many of his traits. Correct from the ground up, easy moving, easy gaining, HAIRY, easygoing temperament, and a treat to set your eyes on. With an emphasis on longevity, Tucker will work for anyone for a long time.

Sam is the youngest bull we are bringing to the sale this year born on March 3rd.He is another Black Rifle son, Sams brings a different approach to be a Black Rifle son with an 85 pound birth weight and a more moderate structure than his bigger brothers in the sale, but just like the rest of the Rifle sons they carry themselves with ease with that great foot under all of them. On the bottom side he provides that fleck influence from our Keepsake bloodlines.

We decided to bring a set of four Charolais this year to the sale. This was one of those ventures of Winstons I wasn’t sure it was going to stick. Winston went out a few years back and bought a group of hard-working cows from GILLILAND BROS., CARIEVALE SK. These cows were bred to work, and they truly do. I have had many of conversations with Greg since Winston’s passing and getting my head wrapped around the breed. Thank you, Greg, for the guidance you have given me. I also need to thank Kurt, Matt, and Ryan from MJT. Kurt’s evaluation on this year’s calf crop and especially his mentorship in this venture has been truly invaluable to me. The long conversations about selecting the right herd sire to fit these cows has been priceless, bending the ear of one of the most respected breeders regardless of breed means the world to me. I also want to Thank Danny Skeels of Anchor D Simmentals, His knowledge on both breeds and the opportunity he gave Winston a few years back to walk the herd and select cows that have done wonders for us. Thank you, Danny, for taking me under your wing like you did with Winston for so many years.
Without the help of people like Glen Norton, Kurt Trefiak, Danny Skeels and many others I truly would not have the confidence that I do today.
I also need to recognize my parents Stan and Esther. Without these two this is not possible. I always have said my dad will out work me until the day he retires. Who am I kidding….
And lastly my wife and my kids, Kayley thank you for everything, thank you for putting up with me and my crazy schedule between work and the farm. You are the rock that keeps this together.

Once again, we would like to welcome everyone to Transcon’s Northern Connection Bull sale! This event has easily become a highlight of our year, reconnecting with our fellow consignors and customers and meeting new people, so much to a point that Lane and myself call it our annual vacation to St. Paul! We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone that has supported us the previous sale years as well as the Transcon Livestock team for all their help. Special thanks to our vets at Barrnorth and Morenergy for keeping our herd healthy, and to Masterfeeds and Neerlandia Co-op for working with us to provide optimal animal nutrition. Lane and I will work with our buyers and do our best to get you your bull as soon as possible, we will deliver within Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba as quick as Lanes work schedule allows us. For bulls sold further east than Manitoba we will work with the buyers, and we will be willing to deliver to Winnipeg Livestock sales.
Bull development - our bulls are weighed at birth on a digital scale. Bulls were weaned on September 13, 2025, and have been on free choice hay, mineral and supplemented with Masterfeeds Showstopper Driver and Dimension pelleted ration. Their breeding soundness evaluations have been done in March.
All bulls are Homo Polled and have been 100K DNA tested for colour and poll results, as well as Sire Verified.
All bulls were flipped on February 26th to ensure that their feet are in good condition.
We want to take the time to offer our deepest condolences to Champ Simmentals, without Winston this sale wouldn’t have become what it is today. We also wouldn’t have half the knowledge that we do. As a young couple starting out in this business we truly valued Winston’s kindness, friendship and advice and are going to greatly miss him in St. Paul.
We look forward to seeing everyone prior to and on April 7, if you have any questions about our offering please give Sarah a call.
See you around, Sarah & Lane

Some bulls have “ the look” from day 1, this is the best way to describe Nixon. He has herd sire written all over him, with his larger frame and long spined muscular build. We can’t ignore his pedigree, being out of one of our best cows AEDJ Ms Riddler 86H the guess work is done. One of her daughters was high selling open heifer to Red Top Livestock in 2024, with another daughter at Skyline Simmentals, a real good bull at JL Livestock and one of the top calves born in 2026, she raises the good ones each year. If you want a bull that’s gonna add pounds to those steers with phenomenal maternal calving ease look here.

HOMO POLLED, NON DILUTER, GESTATION 285 DAYS

We went back and forth on which one of these Lincoln sons to feature as our lead off, it was a hard decision. Homo Polled, big ribbed, heavy butted and haired, well muscled all wrapped up in a dark red package, sounds like a dream! 49N needs a serious second, maybe even third look, he has all the bells and whistles and is backed by Emma our corner stone donor cow family here at Back in Black. The females backing his pedigree are super exciting, with plenty of noteworthy cow families such as ; Sammie, Pashmenia, Linette and Deva. This bull is just as long as he is deep, and would also fit right into any purebred or commercial operation. We are very impressed by how complete these Lincoln offspring are and will be using him heavily this breeding season.

HOMO POLLED, GESTATION 287 DAYS

SLS Georgia needs no introduction to Northern Connection with previous sons and Grandsons garnering a lot of attention in years gone by. Safe to say she’s done it again with this bull calf, he’s been heavy muscled from an early age and has herd bull written all over him. He has a nice moderate birthweight with explosive average daily gain. With siblings working in impressive reputable purebred and commercial herds across western Canada, such as Berts N R, Skyline Simmentals, and Eyben Farms it’s safe to say this bull would be a great option for any group of cattle!

We have decided to sell LFS Chaos 176K along side his sons. We purchased Chaos from Langer Simmentals. He was an extra age bull at that time. We used him on our heifers and mature cows. The 1st calf crop all calved unassisted . We now have his 2nd calf crop on the ground. We are very pleased with his progeny. We have kept a lot of his heifers last year and we will keep more again this year, and being we have a small herd is the reason we are parting with him. He has matured into a beautiful long bodied thick bull. He is very dark red, double goggled with an exceptional disposition and is very easy to work with. His sons are outstanding with a lot of growth, great pigmentation and style. We are sad to part with Chaos, he has given us 2 calf crops we are very proud of. He has a lot of breeding ability left in him and he will aggressively go breed mature cows.

No Regret 72N is one big soggy brute. He has a long stretchy spine, is well muscled with a big butt and lots of middle. All of that is wrapped with a nice, warm haircoat. His mamma always produces the good ones. She has had females at the Red Deer Equation Sale, and we have consigned her sons to bull sales. He has had some lookers on the farm, being one of the bulls who stand out in the bull pen. Again, a docile temperament for easy handling. Invest in this guy and have NO REGRETS!!!

We bought Go Time’s mother from Skywest Simmentals. This is her 1st calf and she did an awesome job raising him. His mamma just delivered her 2nd bull calf and we are excited to watch him grow. Her udder is nice and tight with an abundance of milk. Go Time is the youngest bull in our sale line up but certainly not a bull to overlook. He has both maternal and paternal pedigree proven to add excellent growth to his calves. It’s GO TIME!!!

I’m very excited to once again come sell my bulls in St. Paul this year! I feel I have a really great selection on offer this year with a type of bull for every producer!
Feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you may have or if you’re wanting to come have a look prior to sale and come for a visit!
Thank you and hope to see you all there!

JEMS Sugar Ray 111N is the kind of yearling that sets himself apart on presence alone. He combines hair, depth, muscle, and dark pigment in a loose-made, free-moving package that is hard to replicate. Bold ribbed, wide topped, and athletic, he is built to stay sound and leave cattle that work.
Sired by Diamond T Shugg Nite 5L and backed by Virginia Young Gun and a rugged R Belagio daughter, Sugar Ray brings together power and maternal strength on the sire side. His dam side, tracing to a Lonestone Baron daughter crossed with Starwest Mojo, adds consistency and cow power to an already stacked pedigree.
There are several Shugg Nite sons in the offering, but Sugar Ray has a different presence. He is the kind of bull that leaves a stamp, builds replacement females, and quietly shifts a program in the right direction over time.

MAKAR 120M is an extra-age bull built for breeders who want confidence, durability, and the ability to cover cows without question. Dark in colour and polled, he carries a mature, masculine look with the kind of body and structure that comes from time and development.
He is out of Diamond T Jewelz 135J, a heavy-milking cow with a tidy udder and square, functional feet. On the top side, he is sired by our home-raised bull JEMS Pretty Boy 04K, a bull we trusted on both heifers and cows with excellent results. Pretty Boy was known for calving ease while still leaving growth and performance, and Makar follows that same practical pattern.
Makar is a complete, honest bull with good feet, good hair, and a quiet attitude. He is the kind you turn out on a big group, walk away from, and trust to do his job year after year.

JEM 105N is a long-made, extended bull that stands out for his frame and length of body. He is dark in colour, carries plenty of hair, and is smooth through his design, giving him a clean, modern look that still holds together on the move. He is one of the bigger bulls in the pen, offering added scale without giving up balance or structure. His dam is a productive, functional cow with a beautiful udder and strong feet, and those same traits show up clearly in 105N himself. He is built on a solid foundation and moves with ease, suggesting longevity and durability.
JEM 105N is well suited for producers looking to add length, frame, and performance to their calf crop while maintaining maternal quality. He fits best where growth and stretch are priorities and where cows need that extra extension added back in.

JEMS 100N is a bull I’ve admired from the very start. From the day he was born, he has always carried that true bull look! masculine, powerful, and confident in his presence. For those searching for a buckskin bull he is a textbook example with colour and look that stand out in any pen. He is loaded with hip that flows smoothly into his flank and carries that power forward through his front end without becoming front heavy. Balanced in his design and correct in his build, 100N combines muscle, eye appeal, and functionality into a package that is hard to overlook.

If you’re looking for the bull that adds frame, length, and pounds to your calf crop, Nox is the one to do it. He was the top calf out of my JB CDN Cortez group and has the kind of presence and performance that translates directly into high-dollar calves come fall. Nox himself is the complete package long made, powerful, and balanced. He carries a beautiful skull, lots of hair, and has a quiet, gentlemanly disposition in the pen. He’s the kind of bull that’s easy to be around but serious when it comes to production. Nox is backed by a cow that has proven herself time and again. His dam, BLL Patty 136K, has done exceptionally well here, and her consistency speaks for itself. Her son from last year, JEMS Macone 100M, was our high seller and went on to Gary Portiek, who has had nothing but good things to say about the work that bull has done in his program. That kind of repeatability is hard to ignore. Whether your goal is to raise powerful, growthy calves or build replacement females that simply go to work and last,

He’s the kind of bull that just makes sense when you study him, balanced and correct from the ground up. He is the type you can confidently use on both young and mature cows and still get the results you need. As another Shugg Nite son, 109N shows something a little different, the kind of variation you want when you’re trying to match the right bull to the right set of females. There has always been something about him that stands out among the rest, and as time goes on, he just continues to improve. To top it off, he has become increasingly quiet and easy to handle, making him a pleasure to have around.

JEMS 206N is a bull that truly stands out and one I am extremely impressed with. He offers that hard-to-find combination of low birthweight with real growth to weaning, making him a bull I would confidently consider using on heifers without giving up performance. Last year, his full brother was slated to make the sale but stayed home due to needing extra time to recover. That bull was one I felt would have worked exceptionally well on heifers, which is exactly why I believe 206N will do the same. The difference with 206N is the way he has grown into his frame he has developed into an exceptional, balanced, and powerful individual. His dam is a female I retained and couldn’t be happier with. She has the true brood cow look, backed by a picture-perfect udder and the kind of functionality that makes cows easy to keep year after year. If you’re searching for a bull that blends calving ease with performance, one that works on heifers yet still adds growth and value, 206N is the kind that checks all the boxes.

We are thrilled to be returning to the Northern Connection Sale for our third consecutive year! We are very excited about our selection of polled, black, blaze faced bulls and our sole fullblood on offer this year. We prioritize herd longevity, and we are not shy to cut animals from our simmental program if we see any indication of poor foot quality or milk supply. We have been slow to expand our program. In fact, I ended up culling 20% of our registered herd in 2024, because we want to ensure our buyers have animals of the best quality. For additional information, pictures and videos please visit our Facebook page at Clearwater Farms Ltd.
We have been enjoying hearing feedback from our 2024 & 2025 buyers and hope to continue our momentum and to push ourselves to be better each year. Rebecca, Cpnrad & Archer

You want some chrome? You’ve got it! And it is backed by some growth; with an 1655lb Adjusted Yearling Weight! ‘Nashville’ is a heavy & flashy guy, but he has a big frame to distribute his weight and a big, solid foot under him. He is backed by a dam that shares the same solid foot on top of her perfect udder, and consistently produces big framed animals, but she calves with ease. We like to say they come out like “arrows”, with a narrow head and a lot of leg under them. Welcome to the Northern Connection Simmental sale! We are excited to once again be part of this group.

Our family farms near St. Paul, raising Black Angus, Simmental and Maine Anjou cattle with a focus on functional pedigrees, cow families, and consistent proven performance. The kids are active in 4 H and have enjoyed success in junior shows while helping build both our herd and their own. Kyle and Emily are currently studying in Oklahoma and have been members of their school livestock judging teams. Ethan and Kurt attend high school and are key in helping keep things going around here on the day to day. It truly is a family operation. This year we culled the bull pen aggressively and early in the summer. We kept back just a few bulls that we felt at that time had something extra to offer. Our Angus bulls have been selected for the Prairie Select Sale, and additional bulls and females — including Maine Anjou — are available by private treaty. We routinely use AI and are increasingly producing embryos from our proven donors and select purchased genetics to strengthen a reliable foundation. Cow families are the cornerstone of our program — you’ll often find pieces of our top families woven throughout pedigrees — and buyers have been rewarded by that focus.
We are busy just like everyone but someone is always around and we look forward to showing you the bulls and their dams on the farm any time and if you don’t make it here we’ll see you in St. Paul!

Parting with a bull intended for your own heifer pen says a lot about quality — CARPS Nexus 305N is that kind of bull. Sired by calving ease specialist WLB TOP TIER 456G and out of a CMS Sochi 307A female he is unique. Born with a moderate birth weight, he turned in explosive weaning performance and true muscle pattern and shape - and bonus he is all that in one package raised by a first calf heifer. Nexus is the only all red calf in the crop (most siblings carried a blaze), so that money stripe is his to pass on. His dam had a blaze heifer this year. Don’t miss the chance to add this rare combination of low birth weight, gentle temperament, performance and true phenotype to your program.

CARPS Natty Boh Lager 165N is a sharp-featured bull that blends two proven worlds into one complete package. His dam is a daughter of Hart State of War 056C and his sire a Fullblood bull we purchased last year to add splash and chrome to our solid-coloured cows — and he delivered exactly that, along with a bonus pen of fancy replacement heifers. Natty Boh may be one of the younger bulls in the offering, but don’t overlook him. He is built stout, square hipped, hairy, & loose hided with stacked maternal greatness. Turn him out with with cows, sit back with a beer, dream of your next calf crop with extra chrome and cash.
