Welcome to Transcon’s 8th Annual Next Step Bull Sale, held at the locally owned Thorsby Stockyards. It is always a pleasure to work with the great folks here.
When I think back to the 2025 sale, the word wow immediately comes to mind. The high seller reached $58,000, with an impressive $10,200 average—truly outstanding. However, what stands out most was the packed house and the anticipation in the crowd as buyers competed for this excellent set of bulls. Next Step has become a premier opportunity to purchase outstanding genetics from smaller breeders who genuinely value and appreciate their customers.
My January tour revealed another strong and exciting offering for the 2026 sale. A powerful group of polled Fleckvieh bulls, complemented by stout red and black bulls, along with some outstanding heifer-bull prospects, will all be awaiting your appraisal.
New to the sale in 2026 are Richlan Farms and Newton Creek Simmentals. This will be their inaugural year selling bulls through Next Step, following great success marketing females from their herds.
Plan to come early to view the bulls, enjoy the presale lunch, and be sure to secure your seat for Next Step.
If you are unable to attend in person, please reach out to any member of the Transcon team for assistance. The sale will also be broadcast live on Transcon by TEAM.
Hope to see you on sale day.

Karrie,
Welcome to the 8th annual Next Step bull sale.

First off, I would like to thank my past buyers for all their support. I’m excited about the ten head I am bringing to town this year. My belief in the cattle industry is to raise cattle that come out with ease and have lots of growth, because we get paid by the pound. I run 50 registered purebred Simmentals, as well as a few commercial cows. When choosing my bulls I cull extremely hard for disposition, feet, structure and muscle. I am excited to see what these bulls can do for their new owners. I’m looking forward to seeing you at the Thorsby stock yards on March 12, 2026.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call anytime or feel free to stop in. Kreo

This bull has always had the herd bull presence and checks all the boxes. He is deep and long bodied, with a good set of feet under him. Having a great disposition and being my heaviest at both weaning and yearling weight time. I would look to him to raise awesome steer calves and great replacement heifers. I have a first calver full sister that is beautifully uddered and the type I strive to produce. His dam came from the Spring Creek dispersal as one of my top picks, being moderate framed and raising top end calves. I think he will get a lot of attention come sale day.

A stretchy long bodied bull that is smooth made, thick quartered with lots of capacity, style and eye appeal. He was at the top of the pen for both weaning and yearling weights time. I have successfully used his sire Epic in the heifer pen and on some cows the last few years being really happy with the calving ease and performance he provides. His young dam has raised a really nice high selling full brother last year that sold to Blueridge Farms. The dam has a nice tight level udder and raising 2 bulls of this quality ranks her high on my list.

A real eye catching long bodied, good haired blaze faced bull here. I believe he would work well on a young set of cows to be a little easier calving without sacrificing any growth. He comes from a productive red label cow that has raised herd bulls for Dar-Rox farms and Fredrick Strate also being the maternal grandam to the previous lot KZ Epic 103N.

Blood red, smooth made and long spined. He is very athletic with good feet and will cover ground to get the cows bred. We have extensively used his sire Crosby the last several years in our commercial herd with nothing but good to say about him. When you look back into a lot of proven pedigrees you will see Crosby I think that adds a lot of value to this bull.

HOMO POLLED, DILUTER FREE
A Stout performance orientated beef bull that is big framed with good hair, length of body and thick top. He was a part of a flush I split with John Beechinor leaving me 4 full sisters, 3 calving this year that are heavy milking and doing a great job on their first calf this far. A nice full flush brother sold to Baseline Feeders in last years sale and heard good reviews on. There dam ETZ 200A is a big bodied productive cow that knows how to crank them out being the dam to Skors Blaze 48D and Skors Brave heart.

DILUTER FREE
A bull that has a bit of extra frame but still maintaining adequate muscle and long body. He is also very athletic with a good set of feet that will cover some ground to get the cows bred. The Rancher sired progeny that I got have been easy calving and smooth made. His Crosby dam is a big bodied cow that is a nice uttered, heavy milking with a great disposition and has a son also working for Circle Z Simmentals.

We would like to welcome everyone to the 8th Annual Next Step Bull Sale. It is an honor to once again be part of the Next Step Bull Sale and to market bulls alongside such an outstanding group of cattle producers. We would also like to extend a warm welcome to the good people from Richlan Farms and Newton Creek, joining us in this year’s sale.
At Masterloc Simmentals, we currently run approximately 65 polled and horned Full Fleckvieh cows, along with 70 commercial Simmental-cross cows. There is no favoritism here—all cows are managed under practical commercial conditions. Our breeding program utilizes natural service sires, artificial insemination, and embryo transplant to continually move the program forward.
Our calving season typically runs from early April through May. All bulls in this sale are coming two-year-olds and have been grown out on a corn silage and hay ration, top-dressed with oats, Bullseye bull supplement, and a complete mineral program, while being maintained on a full herd health program
We focus on quality over quantity. Bulls are selected with an emphasis on temperament, sound feet and legs, structural integrity, breeding soundness, and performance. Our goal is to offer bulls that are functional, easy to manage, and capable of adding value in both seedstock and commercial operations.
The Mast McKay family!

Welcome to the Next Step bull sale. 2025 has brought record high cattle prices once again, with 2026 looking to build on that. It’s a good time to assess and use capital to build for the future. Now might be the time advantage of these record prices to cull and clean up the herd. Load up those problem cows that cause extra work, issues or bulls that are getting up there in age and invest in some new bulls.
Every year we do that herd assessment on feet, udder, temperament, calf performance and maternal, thus creating a functional herd which lessens the work and makes it more enjoyable to raise cattle. Over the past few years we’ve purchased top end heifers that check these boxes while culling the issue ones. Century Simmentals is committed to raising quality functional cattle with consistency and longevity. As you read through the comments on the bulls, consistency and track records are highlighted, cows are given a few tries then either culled or turned into recips if they aren’t productive. Our feeding program has longevity in mind, these might not be the heaviest bulls sale day but we want them to last with the goal of building long term repeat customers.
We rely on Heartland Feeds for their expertise and quality products supplying mineral, rations and supplements for the Century herd. Bulls are developed on TMR corn silage ration with grain and supplement pellet.
Leduc Farm Animal Hospital covers all our veterinary needs and herd health program. We appreciate their expertise, knowledge and quick response times.
Bulls have been given clean up for lice control as well as up to date shots.
Thank you to past bidders and buyers for making past sales a success. We look forward to continuing to work with you and appreciate your support. One of the things that make the cattle industry so great is the people and businesses in it that makes this whole thing work. Come see the bulls at the farm before sale day or call with any questions. If unable to make it to the sale contact the Transcon team for appraisal of bulls or be on the phone to bid on your behalf.

• Sire Century Jace 1J sold to Dercam Farms, we had the opportunity to use him first cycle before breeding at Dercam. Jace has put a couple sons through the next step ring over the years.
• Brother Century Lynchburg sold to Amanda Thomson for a heifer bull, Amanda has been happy with his calves
• Full sister a calving ease young female we retained in the herd
• When recommending heifer bulls I like to see consistency in birthweights which is what you should get with 529N. His BW was 70lbs, full sister was 74lbs and full brother was just born weighing 69lbs

Welcome to Transcon‘s 8th Annual Next Step Bull Sale.
This year’s offering consists of 2 outstanding extra age bulls, and 7 yearlings that we think very high of. All bulls are polled, dark, red, and come from well structured females with good feet and udders. Videos will be made available on Transcon‘s website a few weeks prior to the sale. We would like to extend a warm welcome to Richlan Farms and Newton Creek Simmentals to the group and also wishing Nolara Farms and RDG Simmentals all the best in the future.
Hope to see you all sale all day.

Concrete is an embryo calf that we are extremely happy with. His dam is a stand out and stems from our favourite cow family tracing back to MRLN Dulcie. Pol Concrete is a smooth polled, moderate framed, wide topped, huge round hip, really thick, well pigmented bull with a great disposition and an ideal birth weight considering the power being offered in his genetic makeup. He is a really well rounded bull from top to bottom that being said, these are traits that we find hard to let go so hopefully you will all understand why we chose to put him to use for a few select cows in our fall program. If time allows we are going to try to draw some semen on him prior to the sale with some going with the bull. Pol Concrete would be a solid choice for your next herdsire

POLLED, 100% FULL FLECKVIEH, NON DILUTOR
Another fall born bull from Seduction 11 F. Her natural calf this time and sired by the bull whose name says it all. Anchor T Legend has stood the test of time in this industry. The cross with 11 F has produced a very handsome boy that will be well liked by many. A very attractive head, smooth fronted, deep bodied, ample thickness, great hair coat, and good to work with. Expect really good calving ease with extra come weaning time. Pol Carhartt would be well worth considering sale day.

POLLED, 100% FULL FLECKVIEH, NON DILUTOR
I don’t know how many bulls you will find that are filled with more proven genetics than this guy has. Spartacus and Viper are some of the most sought after bloodlines around and this bull is a great example as to why. Pol Crixus is moderate framed, lots of hair, good top line and thickness, nicely pigmented, and most definitely the pet of the bullpen. Pretty sure you will have no trouble finding him sale all day, but if not, he will find you. Bringing him home would be a wise decision. Lots to look forward to with Pol Crixus in your bull battery.

SCURRED/POLLED, 100% FULL FLECKVIEH, NON DILUTER
This guy is another one of our favorites, his sweet temperament first attracts you to him along with that dark dark cherry red color. He profiles really nice, adequate thickness, walks well on a good set of feet, good hip and out of a high quality Maroon daughter. Dark Knight would be another great choice come sale day.

Pol Yahtzee is a dark cherry Red Bull that really excels in foot structure just like his sire, but still stands above average and all the other traits you will be looking for in selecting your next herdsire. Sadie has been a very consistent producer putting keepers in our herd and boys in the bullpen. Last year‘s bullcalf sold to Red Willow Ranch. Pol Yahtzee is Pam‘s pic of the Lazer bull calves this year and I’m not going to argue, I suggest you shouldn’t either lol. Feel confident rolling the dice on Yahtzee.

Another dark cherry red Lazer calf out of a moderate easy keeping cow we purchased from Diamond T Simmentals. Pol Tsunami is stouter made with lots of volume and muscle, a reasonable birth weight and a calm disposition. Once again good feet and a nice hair coat. Lots of potential in this young, herdsire. Be sure to check him out

We would like to welcome you to the 8th Next Step Bull Sale.
We have been in the Simmental business for 34 years and run a herd of Full Fleck Red and Blacks. We are trying to attain bull calves that are easy calving and still have good growth. Which has been with the two sires that we have. All bulls have been given Inforce3 and Bova Shield Gold and 8 way.
All bulls can be viewed at any time. Stop for a visit.

We are so excited to be back bringing our best to town! These bulls come from some of our stronger females in the herd, and I believe it shows. We tried hard to showcase the matrons here at Skyline, they work harder and harder every year. They deserve some recognition! We are hard on our females when it comes to structural correctness and temperament. Udder and foot structure, body confirmation, personality and ability to raise a growthy, eye appealing calf are some of the things we take into consideration when keeping a female in the herd.
We have used our new herd sire, BEE Red Prince 421K, heavy on the papered cows and boy was that a good choice to make. He throws a ton of meat and muscle onto his calves, without sacrificing femininity in the females and bulls are built smooth and long. Red Prince is the sire to our highest selling female to date, she brought an impressive $24,000 as a heifer calf! This herd sire means business.
We run a full herd health program and bulls are semen tested and have had their feet checked out prior to the sale. Let me elaborate on the whole checking of feet, I’m a big fan of being confident in what I am selling and I get the bulls tipped to make sure the structural correctness is as good underneath as it is on top. The weaning weights on these bulls are off their mother and grass. No creep feed needed!
We can’t wait to see everyone in Thorsby! If you are in the Onoway area and have time for a tour, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Navigator has been a standout since he was a week old. He came out smooth and grew into himself very quickly. He’s got a nickname around the farm, we refer to him as “Studly” because I mean, he is a stud! Since a young age he has carried himself like a herd sire, he’s got a ton of presence. Studly was our heavyweight at weaning, coming off at a whopping 1070lbs! His dam has a fantastic foundation. She’s built long and deep with a solid set of feet and a great udder with a ton of milk. His sire Red Prince needs no introduction. His calves are impressive all around and one of the most consistent sets of calves we have had to date. Prince has a huge dark foot, structural correctness and a ton of meat and muscle, which he passes onto his calves. Studly is a great combination of growth and style. If you want to wean big calves in the fall take a look here.

Nuclear is a bull with an explosive amount of growth. Being our only 3/4 blood in the offering he is not lacking in any department. He’s built solid on a big foot, with a great set of testicles underneath him as well. Nuclear was the second heaviest at weaning coming off his 10 year old dam at 1050lbs! Longevity is built into this bull. He’s a 3/4 blood because I poach dad’s best commercial Simmental cows to test out new bulls, then register the progeny. I can remember Nuclears granddam, and great granddam. It’s a line of beautifully made cows that milk heavy without compromising udder structure, and last forever!

If you’re looking to add some power to your herd, without compromising on structural smoothness take a look at this guy. Negotiator is a cool package. Super long made, tucked in shoulder with a ton of capacity through the middle and great muscle all throughout. His dam and granddam are both productive females in the herd and show their worth every year. Foot and udder quality is top notch on both SLS Jade and Cityview Nordica. Negotiator is a true gentleman to handle, and loves his scratches. What more could you ask for!

This is a bull that needs to be on your list. Noble is one of our younger bulls on offer and yet you can’t tell. He has a great layout, long made, big butt, wide back, big testicles, dark foot, the list goes on. His temperament is top notch as well! He displays a ton of maturity for being an end of February calf. His dam, Jane, is a beautiful cow. Tanky, soggy, smooth. A fantastic udder and feet. She checks all the boxes before you even see her calf. She’s the type of cow I like to refer to as a “display cow” she is always in fantastic condition and belongs on display! Noble will be a big time producer regardless of where he ends up. Being an end of February calf, he weaned off in September at 890lbs! This is a bull with a lot of good going on.

fantastic set of feet and milks like nobody’s business. Narrator weaned off as an end of February calf at 880lbs in September! Gracie is no stranger to raising big bulls. She’s done it year after year, after year. I’m a big fan of consistency, but a heifer would be nice.. Narrator has a unique pedigree, and is a shot of calving ease with the growth you’d expect from the fleckvieh in the background on the dams side. He’s a bull that will catch your eye again and again.

Here is a sample of what a Beast daughter can do! This is the youngest bull in the offering being an end of February calf. He has outgrown our expectations! Nitrous is a cool combination of smooth and square. He’s a well rounded, balanced bull with a crazy amount of spine. His dam is a beautifully uddered female that is fancy in her makeup and easy on the eyes. She milks like a typical Beast daughter, heavy. Beast daughters are highly maternal females that seem to impress year after year. The combination of Beasts length of spine and the jam you get from the Tycoon on the sires side, you get a beautifully made bull.

This bull has it all going on. Length of spine, huge barrel, muscle expression, fantastic extension through his front end. What more could you ask for? He checks all the boxes. His outcross pedigree is one of those boxes. He’s a cool combination of calving ease and big time growth. He carries himself extremely well, owns every pen he’s in. He knows he has got some good stuff going on. He’s got a big solid foot under him with great testicular development from a young age. Northerns dam, Ms Deputy is not stranger to raising a top end calf. She’s done it year after year. I can’t find a bad cross for this cow. She’s well known for packing the pounds on her calves while keeping them fancy with a ton of eye appeal. His sire Redwood needs no introduction. He has outdone himself time and time again for Lewis farms. I had to see what Ms deputy could do with a bull like that. Well worth it! What an impressive outcome. If you need a bull that will get the job done and leave you with big growthy calves, take a look here.
Welcome to the 2026 Next Step bull sale. We are extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to be able to consign our bulls in this sale with these elite producers. This is our first time selling bulls at a live sale as we have just sold them off the farm in previous years but we feel that when an opportunity knocks you must take it.
Our bulls are on a free choice hay and pellet ration from bullseye feeds. They are built to last. Our selection of bulls comes from pedigrees that are tried and true with sires like Razzmatazz, Electric Avenue and Jahari. They were weaned on September 10 with no creep feed until after weaning. Please reach out to us or the Transcon team for any questions you may have.
Hope to see you on March 12, 2026

Andrew, Kaylee, Mila & Mallory Kushminder

Don’t let 103N color fool you he is an absolute meat wagon of a bull. He is deep sided with an impressive topline and walks on a large hoof. We are extremely excited to be a part of Transcon’s Next Step Bull Sale this year!
Our bull offering combines calving ease with strong, consistent performance. These bulls are developed without creep feed, allowing their growth to accurately reflect natural performance and the maternal strength of their dams. This year’s bulls have been raised on a rolled barley silage and second-cut alfalfa, supplemented with Bullseye pellets. They are developed with longevity in mind, ensuring they are sound, athletic, and ready to go to work without being overconditioned. The bulls were weaned on September 7.

We invite you to come take a tour of the bulls and we can assist you in finding the bull that best suits your herd. Feel free to reach out to the Transcon team for an unbiased opinion on the boys or to bid on your behalf if you are unable to make the sale.
