The Power of English Heterosis No other English breed of cattle can boast the versatility and complementarity South Devon cattle possess in crossbreeding situations. With advantages in rapid feedlot gain, feed efficiency, docility, maternal values, near-Angus marbling, and all coming in versatile red or black hides, South Devon make the perfect match for commercial cattlemen wanting to add another English breed into their crossbreeding rotation. With DLCC Genetics, many production goals are possible; ask us about which bulls we think will help you reach your goals.

Firestorm puts it all together, it’s impossible to walk into the bull pen and not immediately find 10F. With roots back to the DLCC Robin Hood sire, we acquired CCN Montana Duchess from the now dispersed Carol Nelson cowherd. A truly great cow family and one that will be a hallmark of our program moving forward.

The Dodge City sons have been around for awhile, but Frontier may very well be one of our favorites. He has the balanced figures you’d expect from the pedigree, but adds in the phenotype that comes from a great cow family. One of the only bulls that is over 0.4 in REA area, over 40 CW, and over 0.8 in Marbling, this guy can do it all. At this time we still don’t have $Profit index figures on some of the later born bulls in the offering, but when those figures are calculated we are confident Frontier will be one of the highest in the sale.
DLCC Dodge City 78Y - Sire of lots 21 through 37 Dodge City is a proven herd bull with countless examples of what his progeny can add to a herd. Over the past four years his sire group has topped the sale DOB: 04/22/2011

Here’s an outcross bull with all the potential to be the next great in the breed. Low birth to extreme growth, a young dam going back to one of the breed greats, Focal Point is one of our favorites in the sale. It isn’t very often a first calf heifer can wean a calf with a 115 ratio and do it in such an attractive package. Focal Point is sound with solid feet underneath him.

DLCC Customer Service You Buy, We Provide Delivery
Free nationwide delivery is a rare thing in this business. If you qualify, we will deliver your bulls free of charge anywhere in the country. Only one of the following must be met. A purchase of 3 or more bulls A purchase total in excess of $5000 You are within 400 miles of our location We can put together a group of cattle with a common destination Please inform us of the date you would like your cattle delivered so we can plan our deliveries accordingly. As many of you know the big limiting factor here is time, and we may not be able to get every animal delivered to their new owner by the desired date. If that is the case, we will assist you in finding transportation. Delivery fees will never exceed the actual at-cost to deliver. Deliveries will be prioritized by volume purchased and necessity.
Bull Salvage Credit Have an old bull that needs to go? Bring him to us and we will offer you a sale credit that equals market price plus an additional $250 credit. For example, if you bring us a bull weighing 1900 pounds and we receive $0.76 a pound, you will get a credit of $1694 in our next sale for the purchase of another bull. The credit will be awarded after the bull has been salvaged, so please notify us if you want to capitalize on this opportunity at least two weeks before the spring sale. If you are within 100 miles of our location we will even pick up the bull.
Genetic & Herd Consulting Want some assistance with your breeding program? We have over 30 years of experience raising cattle and a geneticist on staff in the family. Our knowledge and experience can help you develop rotational breeding, terminal crossing, and composite breeding programs that will help you maximize heterosis and breed complementarity. We can help you build a database, keep track of pedigree and performance information, and develop an AI protocol. We will also travel to your operation and lend our expertise in cattle selection, and understanding of performance data and visual appraisal to help with the selection of your replacement females.
Sales & Marketing Assistance Want to top the market when you sell your calves around weaning? We’ve got dedicated buyers for our program that want your calves out of our bulls. We help our customers determine when the best time to sell is, along with also representing them on sale day. We will inform our buyers of the time and place where your calves auction will be held, or get in touch with you to sell directly. We only ask a couple requirements. All calves are BRD vaccinated All steer calves are hand-cut All calves are in a consistent weight range Have been weaned for at least 30 days If your calves are out of our bulls and meet these requirements we can help you top the market on sale day.

We love females like this with an exceptional pedigree and numbers to back them up. Her mother is a hallmark dam, tracing back to the great MJB program. Udders are meticulously cared for and selected on and feet are unquestionably sound. Fancy is the definition of her name. Seeking real world relevance can be found in this attractive package.
$Profit:
The Promise family is another great cow family and one that does it in an exquisite phenotype. Her figures read balanced, maternal magic.

“The first bull I ever purchased from Dar broke his penis and I had never worked with a producer with a guarantee like theirs. The guarantee is exactly what they say it is, and I even offered to go 50/50 on the bull and instead recieved 100% back, no questions asked. The fertility, longevity, and disposition has greatly been improved in my cowherd and the calves are still sensible on carcass merit. Last year the group of calves I sold made an extra $55 per head compared to the plant average, and feedlots have been very satisfied with the calves uniformity, feed conversion and disposition. The most important fact is that DLCC is a family-owned operation that stands behind their cattle and takes care of their customers.” - Keith Raty, MT

Can you find a female that doesn’t scream “Cow Power” more than Natalie 149E? Her attractiveness stems from being a functional female with a sound udder and ideal feet and leg structure. We like the possibility of her becoming a herd matron in future years and don’t let this one go lightly. The mating of 9 Mile Franchise leaves one excited for her future offspring. Calving Ease Direct CED - predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when bred to first calf heifers. Expressed as percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease. Birth Weight BW - Expressed in pounds. Based on the measure birth weight of progeny, adjusted for dam age. The lower the value the lighter the calf at birth and the lower the likelihood of a difficult birth. This is particularly important when selecting sires for use on heifers. Weaning Weight WW - Expressed in pounds. Calculated from the weight of progeny. Values are adjusted to 205 days and for age of dam This EPD is the best single estimate of an animal’s genetic merit for early growth. Yearling Weight YW - Expressed in pounds. Calculated from the weight of progeny taken between 301 and 450 days of age, adjusted to 365 days and for age of dam. This EPD is the best single estimate of a sire’s genetic merit for yearling weight. Milk - Expressed in pounds. An estimate of an animal’s milking ability. For sires, this EPD indicates the effect of the daughter’s milking ability, inherited from the sire, on the weaning and yearling weights of her calves. For dams, it indicates her own milking ability.
Maternal Weaning Weight MWW - Expressed in pounds. A combination of Milk and Weaning EPDs and estimates the genetic merit of the animal to produce pounds of calf at weaning. Maternal Calving Ease CEM - predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to the daughters of another sire in the same evaluation. Expressed as a percentage of unassisted births. Marbling MARB - Expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Fat Thickness FT - Expressed in inches. A predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Ribeye Area REA - Expressed in square inches. A predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Carcass Weight CW - Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Retail Beef Yield RB - Estimates the genetic differences between animals in percentage of retail beef yield for a standard carcass weight of 750 lb.
