Jordan Cattle Co 3rd Annual Production Sale

Page 1

Welcome!

Welcome to Jordan Cattle Co.’s third annual Production Sale. Once again, we are very excited about this offering and the consistency of quality in the bulls. This year we are offering 41 head of Angus, Simmental and SimAngus bulls. There are a few changes to the catalog this year, not only do we have some Angus guest consignors, we are also developing our own Angus program that will be integral in progressing our SimAngus program. We again are thankful to have The Bullerman Family sending us a few Angus bulls, and this year we also have a couple more Angus bulls to offer from Vantage Angus. Both programs produce sound productive cattle that have real world relevance, and we feel they compliment the set as a whole. We believe there is quality from top to bottom in this offering and you won’t be disappointed.

While the world continues to change around us, I believe we as ranchers, and especially commercial cattle producers, are blessed to be in a very good position within the industry. Feeder cattle continue to set all-time highs and feed costs remain relatively low. Profit potential for the cow/calf sector is certainly something to be excited about. All the aspects of supply and demand are leaning toward more good years. The lack of significant cow herd expansion will continue to keep the cow/calf producer in the drivers seat. While this is a historically unusual position for ranchers it is certainly one that has been long coming.

Our family’s ranching heritage has ventured into its 6th generation and is still holding strong. The desire to care for the land, and what it provides, grows as the years pass. It’s a tough life, but rewarding and honest. Our roots are in the commercial cow/calf sector, like many of you, we fully understand how

important this investment is to your operation’s success. Bulls that are able to go to work, last several years, and produce vigorous, well-doing offspring, are essential to a robust operation. With this in mind, we develop these bulls much differently than most.

Our bulls are developed in a pasture setting, getting plenty of exercise, and are fed to express their genetic potential without being over conditioned. We put a very high priority on structural soundness and integrity, including a good set of feet and legs. Bulls that are grown, not fattened, will stand the true test. Our program is straightforward. We focus on utilizing sires that will produce a good set of bulls whose calves will weigh-up, as well as quality replacement females.

The females are expected to do their part as well. Good uddered females that calve unassisted and wean big calves are the most productive and thus the most profitable. This is where the SimAngus female makes her mark. The heterosis and complementarity of the two breeds come together to produce a superior female that can thrive in many environments. She excels in reproductive efficiency and pounds weaned per cow exposed, two main factors that drive profitability.

Thank you for considering our program to fulfill your breeding season needs. We appreciate the time you spend to make this decision and are here to help in any way. Please reach out with any questions regarding the bulls, the sale, or the program. We would be happy to hear from you.

God Bless and Have a Great Year!

BULLERMAN SIGNIFICANT • REFERENCE SIRE

Significant has proven himself through his first crop of calves and has already sold several sale highlights and toppers. We were fortunate enough to be able to use him in his first year. Unfortunately we only have one bull to offer this year, but we have several prospects for next year and we are excited! He was a phenotypic standout with a solid set of EPD’s. As good as his sons are the daughters look even better.
