We would like to start by saying THANK YOU to all our past customers. Without your support and encouragement, we would not be able to continue our commitment to produce and market seedstock that excel in the economically relevant traits for the commercial cattle producers in this region.
2025 was a great year here at Tokach Angus Ranch. Abundant moisture provided us with ample grass, feed and record-setting cattle prices across all classes and weights of cattle through the summer and fall. Market projections indicate cattle prices will remain strong or even continue to rise over the next several years. This long-awaited financial return for cattlemen and women has renewed optimism and encouraged reinvestment in genetics and operations. Now is the time to capitalize on the long hours and short nights that make the cattle business so rewarding.
Our 2026 bull sale features an outstanding, consistent offering backed by measurable genetic progress. Weaning weights increased significantly this year partly due to favorable weather but primarily driven by our long-standing commitment to genetic improvement. We are proud to offer both new sire groups and proven favorites for our repeat customers.
Tokach bulls are structurally sound, moderate in condition, and designed to deliver low to moderate birth weights, strong weaning performance without creep feed or supplemental cow feed, rapid feedlot gains, and excellent carcass merit — ideal for grid marketing and Certified Angus Beef premiums. Bulls are developed to ensure longevity. After weaning, they are fed to allow them to express their genetic differences but not sacrificing long-term breedability.
The foundation of our program is the Tokach cow herd. For over 50 years, our females have proven to be hardworking, low-input cattle developed to thrive in large pastures with minimal supplementation. Poor disposition, feet, udders or fertility are never tolerated.
Our 2026 bred heifers represent a true cross-section of the 2024 heifer calf crop. They are deep-bodied, wide-based, easy-fleshing females that exemplify the signature Tokach Female look, with many bred to two of the industry’s most sought-after calving-ease sires.
All the registered cattle have been AngusGS tested to provide the most accurate and up-to-date genetic predictions the industry has to offer and ensure pedigree integrity. Videos of the sale offering will be posted on DVAuction just like they have in the past for your viewing and buying convenience.
Richard & Ben welcome phone calls on any of the sale offering. They see and feed the sale offering daily and know them better than anyone. They may be a bit biased, but they will be honest in their opinions. We also would encourage you to stop out at the ranch at any time to see the bulls and heifers in person and the environment they were raised in. The sale cattle have been handled the same as in the past. The cattle have not been creep fed and are currently on home-grown feed with a protein and mineral supplement. The bulls were weaned in early October and the bred heifers sorted off on December 1st. Birth weights are taken with a scale, weaning weights taken at weaning and yearling weights taken just in time for this catalog to go to press.

HEALTH:
The bulls have been vaccinated with a seven-way vaccine –B.V.D., I.B.R., PI-3, BRSV, treated for lice, grubs and worms. Females have been bangs vaccinated. Bred females will have received their second dose of Scour Bos 4. Health papers will be furnished to cattle going out of state.
GENOMIC ENHANCED (GE) EPDS:
All the registered cattle in this sale will have GE EPDs. Depending on specific traits, having GE EPDs will provide a similar amount of accuracy as if an unproven animal already had 7-24 progeny. All cattle that have GE EPDs are also parentage verified.
GENETIC DEFECTS:
All registered cattle in this sale have been tested free of the AM, NH and CA genetic defects by pedigree or DNA test.

If the weather cooperatives, we also plan on having video taken on the entire sale offering. While we would prefer you to be on the seats on sale day and seeing the cattle in person, we realize that is not always possible. The videos will also allow you to view the bulls prior to the sale. WINTERING:
Free Wintering on the bulls until April 1st, 2026. All bulls will be semen checked and delivered at that time. If we are unable to deliver after April 1st then your bulls will have to be picked up at the ranch. The bulls will be handled as if they were our own but are the property of the buyer. Death loss or injury is the purchaser’s responsibility. We request that you purchase insurance on any bulls wintered at TOKACH ANGUS RANCH.
RETAINED INTEREST:
Tokach Angus Ranch is retaining one-third revenue sharing semen interest in every bull selling in this sale. Full possession and salvage value sells on all bulls.
PREGNANCY INFORMATION:
The females have been pregnancy checked by a competent veterinarian and guaranteed to be safe in calf. The A.I. breeding dates listed in this catalog through ultrasound examination are determined by a skilled technician. They are not unconditionally guaranteed as to breeding dates.
BIDS:
Buyers unable to attend the sale may call or send their bids to the owners, auctioneer or representatives. Satisfaction guaranteed.
TERMS:
All animals will sell fully guaranteed according to the terms and conditions of the American Angus Association.
FIRST SEASON BREEDING GUARANTEE:
All bulls selling for $3,500 or more will be covered 50% by Tokach Angus Ranch if they have an untreatable injury that would keep the bull from being a breeder for the first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bulls. If a problem occurs, 50% of the value of the injured bull, minus any salvage value, will go toward a replacement bull if one is available or will be given as credit in a future sale. Injury resulting in death of the bull will not be the responsibility of Tokach Angus Ranch. This is an insurable risk that the purchaser can obtain coverage for through various livestock insurers. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should an injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made prior to September 1, 2026.

The EPDs published in this sale catalog are current as this catalog was being put together. With weekly updates from the American Angus Association the EPDs will change slightly by sale day.
Driving the science of better breeding
There’s little room for error in the cattle business. Producers need the most advanced information to make smart selection decisions, and Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) provides it through genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs).
GE-EPDs have become the industry standard for herd improvement, building on decades of science-backed genetic evaluation tools originated and maintained through the American Angus Association®, home to the largest and ever-growing single-breed beef cattle database.
EPDs that traditionally contained all pedigree, performance and progeny information now also include results from available genomic, or DNA, tests. Breeders who use genomic technology give buyers access to AGI-generated GE-EPDs that provide:
Increased predictability and decreased risk for young and unproven animals due to enhanced accuracy of EPDs
Better characterization of genetics for difficult-to-measure performance traits
(such as carcass traits, maternal traits and feed efficiency)
The ability to make more rapid progress for traits that are important to you, due to:
·more accurate selection
·easier identification of genetic outliers
·the abilit y to propagate young animals with confidence earlier in their lives
In fact, GE-EPDs on unproven animals have the same amount of accuracy as if they have recorded an average of 15 progeny, depending on the trait. That’s valuable insight, offered regularly through the breed’s weekly national cattle evaluation.
How do you know if EPDs are genomic-enhanced?
Ask your breeder, refer to the registration paper, or look for the AGI GE-EPD logo, Angus GS TM powered by partner Neogen or the HD50k by partner Zoetis. These images indicate animals for which genomic testing has been conducted and incorporated by AGI into GE-EPDs
AMERICAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION SELECTION TOOLS
Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus.
Accuracy (ACC), is the reliability that can be placed on the EPD. An accuracy of close to 1.0 indicates higher reliability. Accuracy is impacted whether the animal has a genotype and the number of progeny and ancestral records included in the analysis.
Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.
Birth Weight (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
Weaning Weight (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
Residual Average Daily Gain (RADG), feed efficiency expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of a sire’s genetic ability for postweaning gain in future progeny compared to that of other sires, given a constant amount of feed consumed.
Yearling Weight (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
Yearling Height (YH), is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling height, expressed in inches, compared to the that of other sires.
Scrotal Circumference (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.
MATERNAL
Heifer Pregnancy (HP), is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first–calf heifers during a normal breeding season. A higher EPD is more favorable.
Calving Ease Maternal (CEM), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires.
Maternal Milk (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.
$VALUE INDEXES
$Value Indexes, reported in dollars per head, are multi-trait economic selection indexes where a higher values suggest more profit when comparing two individuals.
Dollar value indexes, or $Values, are a tool used to select for several traits at once based on a specific breeding objective. An economic index approach takes into account genetic and economic values as well as the relationships between traits to select for profit.
Mature Weight (MW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the difference in mature weight of daughters of a sire compared to the daughters of other sires.
Mature Height (MH), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the difference in mature height of a sire’s daughters compared to daughters of other sires.
MANAGEMENT
Docility (DOC), is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility in a sire’s offspring compared to another sire.
Claw Set (Claw), is expressed in units of claw-set score, a lower EPD is more favorable, indicating a sire will produce progeny with more symmetrical, even and appropriately spaced toes.
Foot Angle (Angle), is expressed in units of foot-angle score, a lower EPD is more favorable, indicating a sire will produce progeny with an angle closer to 45 degrees at the pastern and appropriate toe length and heel depth.
Pulmonary arterial pressure EPD (PAP), is expressed in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg), with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire should produce progeny with a lower PAP score to decrease the risk of progeny contracting high altitude disease most commonly experienced at 5,500 ft or greater in elevation.
CARCASS
Carcass Weight (CW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Marbling (Marb), is expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Ribeye Area (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Fat Thickness (Fat), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny from conception to weaning by decreasing mature cow size and improving docility, foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with current production.
Weaned Calf Value ($W), expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning.
Cow Energy Value ($EN), is expressed in dollar savings per cow each year due to lower cow maintenance energy requirements (due to lactation and body size) with a larger number being more favorable.
Feedlot Value ($F), expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning feedlot merit (growth and feed efficiency) compared to progeny of other sires assuming producers retain ownership of cattle and sell on a carcass weight basis.
Grid Value ($G), expressed in dollars per carcass, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit, including quality and yield grade attributes, compared to progeny of other sires.
Beef Value ($B), expressed in dollars per carcass, represents the expected average differences in the progeny postweaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot and sell on a carcass merit grid.
Combined Value ($C), an index, expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.
American Angus Association $Value Indexes
Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), an index expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning. $M is built off of a self-replacing herd model where commercial cattlemen replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% in subsequent generations. Remaining cull females and all male progeny are sold as feeder calves. Increased selection pressure on $M aims to decrease overall mature cow size and improve foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production.
Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning. $W assumes that producers retain 20% of their female progeny for replacements and sell the rest of their cull female and male progeny as feeder calves. Over time, increased selection pressure on $W will increase weaning and maternal milk traits while also continuing to increase mature cow size.
Feedlot Value ($F), an index expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. The underlying objective assumes commercial producers will retain ownership of cattle through the feedlot phase and sell fed cattle on a carcass weight basis with no considerations of premiums or discounts for quality and yield grade.
Grid Value ($G), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit, including quality and yield grade attributes, compared to progeny of other sires.
Beef Value ($B), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, facilitates simultaneous multi-trait genetic selection for feedlot and carcass merit. $B represents the expected average differences in the progeny post-weaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. Selling 30 Commercial Bred Heifers
Each year one of the highlights of the spring sale season has been the selling of our elite commercial bred heifers. Just like in years past, we have sorted out this special group of females shortly after weaning and then culled, sorted and culled again before they were synchronized, and AI bred to one of the most popular and sought after bulls in the Angus breed. You can literally feel the excitement fill the air as these high volume, deep ribbed, large outlined, feminine fronted females fill the ring at Kist Livestock Auction.
For the past 35 years, the region’s top cattlemen have gathered to experience the auctioneer’s chant firsthand and take part in the fast and furious bidding that takes place to see who gets to take the prize of the spring sale season home with them. New and repeat buyers alike have told us the heifers have exceeded their every expectation for quality, disposition, milking ability, breed back and the quality of the offspring they have produced.
You can purchase bred commercial heifers from a lot of places, but you simply will not find any that are more tightly related, higher quality or having the genetic potential that these heifers and their offspring possess. As one top notch cattlemen once told us, “Where else are you going to find heifers like the TOKACH females.”
As an added bonus, this year’s heifers were synchronized, and AI bred on June 14th to CHERRY CREEK BLUE COLLAR. BLUE COLLAR was the high-volume sales leader from the Origen Bull Stud for the past two years. His combination of Calving Ease Direct, performance EPD’s, foot quality and muscle mass that he passes along to his offspring are simply unmatched. Now deceased, his semen is in high demand.
TOKACH GROWTH Fund 1525 3372 (Reg# 20820068) and TOKACH SONIC 4371 (Reg# 21121410) served the clean-up bulls on the commercial heifers. Both bulls are low birth weight, calving ease sires with 117 and 122 weaning ratios’ respectively. Both bulls were younger outliers of their calf crops. All the heifers will have received their second dose of Scour Bos 4, rechecked for pregnancy and health papers completed to allow them to go anywhere.
