Kegley Simmentals 3rd Annual Bull and Female Sale

Page 1

WELCOME

We first want to make sure we take the time to thank our customers, friends, and guests from our previous production sales, as well as the customers who purchased our animals private treaty in prior years. None of this would be possible without all the support we have received, so a sincere thank you to all of you!!

Our goal each and every day is to improve our cow herd, to help our customers improve theirs. We are constantly focused on improving feeding and mineral programs, vaccination methods, purchasing additional stock, and the overall health of our cows. We believe healthy cows with the right characteristics that thrive in our program, will develop offspring that will thrive in our customers’.

TO THE 3RD ANNUAL KEGLEY SIMMENTAL “CHASING THE DREAM” PRODUCTION SALE

And now, the introduction to the 2026 offering. We are really excited about this calf crop and what it can do to help our customers continue to grow. Overall balance is the best way I can describe this set of bulls, from the phenotype to the genotype. This group is very consistent in frame, length, disposition, maternal traits, and EPDs. We will have 22 bulls, 10 registered open heifers, and 12 B/BWF open commercial heifers in the sale. While the numbers are not big in this sale as far as quantity, the quality of the cattle offered is. All animals have been tested for black and polled traits, all shots have been given, bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale, heifers checked and given pre-breeding shots, and all animals will be guaranteed.

We have worked very hard to develop the bulls and heifers the correct way. The goal is to develop them, not push them. They are all weighed every 30 days to monitor growth, not focusing on how much they are gaining, but that they are not gaining too much. Although it’s fun to look at the big bulls on sale day, we all know it’s not what’s best for the longevity of the animal. We hope you understand and appreciate our focus.

Please contact me if you would like to visit the ranch to view any of the offering prior to the sale. A $100 sale day credit will be given to anyone that stops out to the ranch to view the animals prior to the sale.

HERD BULL ALERT!! This is one of the best calves we have raised and really can’t say enough good things about him. He has a unique combination of phenotype and genotype that is hard to find. Exceptional set of EPDs with balance across the board, scoring in the top 30% in 10 categories. His sire Special Ops is producing some excellent offspring in his young career, and his dam was high selling heifer at the ND Simm Sale in 2021 from Traxinger. She is the kind of cow you wish you could clone. This bull has the ability to excel in a seedstock program, or a commercial herd. He will make a set of bulls, steers, and some expectational females.

Here is another Special Ops calf that checks all the boxes, with exceptional growth traits combined with industry leading maternal traits! His phenotype is excellent backed by an excellent set of EPDs. His dam has excellent feet and a perfect udder.

When the Dam is important to you, take a look at this guy. She is a no miss bull producer year in and year out. She carries a lot of frame and with this mating to Special Ops, this calf will pass that frame and length to his offspring. Again, should be another calf that you will see the added weight at weaning time.

lot 4

KEGS MR N49 ASA

If you’re looking for a calf that you can have a picnic on his top, this would be the guy! He is extremely thick. Maybe not quite as much frame as the other Special Ops calves, but probably the thickest with a lot of depth. Another calf in the top 20% of the breed in WW, YW, and Milk.

A Special Ops calf that carries a moderate frame. His dam has a lot of frame, but carries a lot of calving ease, and passed it along through this calf. He is still built right, just not as much frame. If you’re looking for a more calving ease bull, take a look at him.

lot 7

KEGS MR N88

Last of the Special Ops calves and the most moderate framed bull in the offering. He is still built the right way, thick and deep, and really has been developing well. He has a low BW and will continue to develop. His pedigree is packed with names you will recognize.

Another EPIC stamped calf. He really puts width and depth into them. Just a little splash of white, but his dam has a perfect blaze. Again, more moderate birthweight and is a heifer bull prospect. Put him on some black heifers or cows and he will add some chrome adding weight to his steers and making some beautiful replacements.

Look at this beautiful Simmy blaze spicing up a really great calf. This EPIC calf gives you moderate birthweight, with really good growth and maternal traits. He is a calf that has been at the top of my list since last spring. He has a tremendous phenotype and very balanced across his EPD set. EPIC stamps his calves with a great topline, shoulder, and hip. He is a very impressive bull who is flawless in his structure. This is the kind of bull you see in catalogs!! If your cattle business is seedstock, semen sales, or a commercial producer who appreciates quality, take a look!!

Outstanding SimAngus prospect that is built the right way. Huge across the topline, big hip, and smooth shoulder. Great set of EPDs. with moderate BW, and big WW and YW numbers. LASS 077

STUD Alert!! This is my mistake calf that turned out fantastic. My mistake was when I grabbed the AI straw I grabbed the wrong one, and rather than getting a 1/2 Angus 1/2 Simm, I ended with a PB Angus. If you’re looking for a straight PB registered Angus bull, take a look at him. He is so solid across his EPD data set, with low BW, exceptional growth, and at the top of maternal traits. Did I mention he weaned off at 860?

Low BW bull that has really grown up to be a good-looking dude. I’d like to call him a heifer bull, but he really has a front end, shoulder, and hip on him that I think would fit great in a herd that like the lower BW with a lot of power. He is really made well and posts a great set of EPDs.
