Diamond H Ranch - 2026 Annual Production Sale Catalog

Page 1

“DEPENDABLE

Friends & Fellow Cattlemen

Welcome to the Diamond H Ranch Annual Production sale. For almost two decades we have been providing seedstock to our customers and the goal then is the same as it is now…provide the best, most well-balanced cattle we can! To say the least, almost twenty years have flown by and we remember wondering if we would even survive the first two. In a time where the industry is setting records, we have always believed that is when we work the hardest. Genetic improvement has tools available now that we could only dream about 10 years ago. If we are not taking advantage of those tools and using them not only to help ourselves, but also the beef industry as a whole…then we would ask, “What is the end game?” Regardless, of your position in the industry (stocker, cow-calf, feeder, retailer, etc) the consumer will tell you very quickly whether or not you are doing a good job. The current demand on US beef is there because of the hard work put in by all of us dedicated to improvement and we are (finally) seeing some of those benefits!

In this catalog you will see progeny represented that have those thoughts in mind! In every mating we plan, in how we develop them, in our drought management strategies, in our precise data collection, and in the productivity tracked by every female and sire line that is available to us…we are dedicated in our never-ending quest for improvement. This year we feel that we have combined some of the best male and female progeny in both the Red Simmental and Red Angus breeds available out there. The way that these two breeds complement each other is absolutely amazing and we are truly enjoying raising them. The sire lines we have offered will run with the best in the country and after years of maternal focus and recent additions, the ladies in this operation can hold their own as well!

Speaking of talented females, we might have a few of them here at the Diamond H of a different species. Aly and Graycee have not only won a state championship (amongst other tournaments) in softball recently, but both have excelled in school. Aly is always complimented by her elders for her presence in any situation and, like her momma, she has a knack for the digital side of things. In her first year of wrestling, Graycee put a very impressive record of 15-3 together. She will still offer one of the best renditions of the National Anthem you will ever hear and sings nightly in the barn (keeping the cattle calm)! Brynn seems to be following suit of her older sisters and has received many accolades from her teachers and athletic coaches! Let’s not forget the hardest working female at the Diamond H, Jade. She is never short to task and as you can see in this catalog, her attention to detail in everything she does in unmatched. As far as Stockton and myself…well we just try not to get in the way.

As always, we truly appreciate your interest in our program. We understand that as your seedstock provider we are making decisions that affect many things inside of your own operations and we do not take that lightly. The genetics inside this catalog can work in numerous environments and scenarios from the cow-calf to the retail sectors. Again, we thank all of you for taking an interest in our program and giving us the opportunity to work with you. Without our customers, family and friends we would not have gotten to where we are and we extend our most heartfelt appreciation to you all!

We look forward to seeing you all on sale day and wish you nothing but the best!

God Bless, Justin, Jade, Alyson, Graycee, Brynn & Stockton (AKA Range Boss)

Improved Buying Confidence with Greater Genomic ASSURANCE

Access to more and better information has always been key to making wise decisions. Diamond H Ranch x High Quality Genetics

The female comes first in our herd. We focus on her abilities and maternal traits in an effort to make the most dependable (and profitable) mating we can. In addition to her traits, she has to be able to go to work. The importance of sire selection will never be overlooked, but the impact that great females can make inside a herd can arguably be just as important to profitability. The

basic evaluation of mothering ability, foot and udder structure, milking ability, feed efficiency, disposition, and fertility, in conjunction with the best genetic evaluations in the industry…are all used to put our money and credibility in the ladies that go to work 12 months a year for us. We will never sacrifice maternal genetics as we select matings knowing that the best offspring comes from

the best cows. The ladies at the Diamond H have seen some very tough conditions over the years and have always stood strong…exceeding our expectations, which is the type of female we like to keep around! These are not dolled up pageant queens, just honest, hard working matriarchs that we strive to continually improve and rest our hat on.

“Depen Dable cattle from

croSSbreeDing that WorkS

Hybrid vigor plays a huge role in our operation. From the beginning we knew that Red Angus would be the foundation of our herd, but we also knew that breed complementary was something we could not ignore. Through a systematic Red Angus and Simmental crossbreeding program, we can bridge the gap in our never ending quest to create the most balanced animals we can that have the ability to fit multiple scenarios and environments. Inside

our own ranch, the crossbred female continually proves herself and we have the data to back it up. The increased fertility, efficiency and longevity are just a few of the things we love about these cattle and we will continue to combine the best genetics out there to create them.

“Whether We are making decisions Within our oWn herd, selecting a herd sire from an outside source or culling calves, one thing Will alWays remain the same...

Data collection

Data collection and utilization is part of the daily management at Diamond H Ranch. Beyond standard measurements, we pay close attention to fertility and conception rates, cow efficiency and DNA testing is also utilized. We are constantly measuring and collecting as much data as possible to evaluate our herd so that we can move in positive directions. In addition to the data, good ‘ol phenotypic evaluations are something that we do on a regular basis.

to create the most balanced cattle We can by measuring, collecting and evaluating all forms of measurable data. We alWays incorporate phenotypic traits such as disposition, fertility, foot and udder structure and mothering abilities into the equation for success. We are alWays striving to increase our customer’s bottom line.

With his unique pedigree, he is also an outcross mating to many of the current popular red Simmental lines. He adds length and depth of body to everything he sires and he provides the kind of performance and foot structure that we feel has been needed. His quiet disposition (unless you’re a Border Collie) only makes him more attractive! He has an outcross pedigree on the bottom side, he maintains calving ease by staying between 70 to 80lbs of birth weight and provides the kind of performance the industry needs. DHCC BRUNO 538N

DHCC Bruno 538N has a data profile posting 12 EPDs in the top 35% of the breed. His sire, Bruno, is offered in a large quantity in this sale for how well we feel he crosses over with the traditional Red Angus female. He will not be missed when viewed and has a very strong maternal core. His mother descends from one of our previous donor cows and has continued to produce very solid progeny. Lot 1 has exceptional power while keeping calving ease well below breed average.

Lot 2 is the right kind of sire to take home and do whatever you want with him. His sire, Charger, has become one of the premier Red Simmental sires to use in the nation and for good reason. DHCC Charger 574N is an example of what kind of balance and flexibility these genetics can provide…13 EPDs in the top 35% and a phenotype to go with it. We expect nothing but improvements to your cow herd with the use of these genetics. He carries his sire’s disposition and is very calm and gentle.

Lot 3 is another Charger son with many of the similar attributes to Lot 2. If you have not noticed the pedigrees on Lots 1 through 3, there is a common name in the scenario. WS Electra E88 has been considered to be the best red female in the country and I am going to be honest with you…if you don’t have her influence within your cowherd yet, you’re behind. We bought in hard on her progeny for their amazing balance,

The dam to Lot 4, RFS Luna K63, was the highest producing female in her first year ever at the Diamond H. Her 8 sons were very well received and her “pick of the flush” daughter set a new mark on our female side. Lot 4 is a dark, cherry red son that will work well in numerous settings. Lot 54 is a Bruno son that not only has Atomic, but also one of our retired donor cows, HRAA Romo 733 (AKA Gramma), in his pedigree. As many of you are aware, we retired Gramma several years ago and she still resides in her paddock living out her years at the ranch. She is now 18. This sire literally has longevity in his blood.

Great cows make great calves... great calves make great bulls... great bulls make great herd sires... great herd sires make great genetcis... but it all starts with great cows!

Yearling Red Angus and Red SimAngus Heifers

Red River was a sleeper in the Gateway sale many years ago and was purchased with the help of our good friend, Rocky Forseth. We have watched that sire line over the last seven years become one of the most consistent blood lines we have ever had here at the Diamond H. We could never cull Red River progeny because they flat out did their job. I see similar things in this young female and plus she has Charger on the top side of her pedigree. Her granddam, Electra, has done proven herself in the Simmental breed and throughout this catalog. If you are looking for a female that has the right stuff, Lot 70 can deliver!

DHCC 38 Special N520 has all the stuff in her lineage to make a great cow. The 38 Special progenies have been some of the better phenotypical females inside our operation. We have sold them to numerous states around the region, including higher altitudes. Lot 71 also has Gramma in her lineage and most of you reading this already know who that is! I would expect that this young female follows suit like the great blood lines before her and works her way to the top of your herd!

DHCC Hoss N534 is the first Red Angus female we sell and for good reason. Her structural correctness and feminine look in the pen will catch your eye and her dam is the progeny from the Milk Creek herd who also put a top end sire in our sale a year go and has continued being a cow we can count on to produce.

We have always referenced how much we enjoy a ¾ Red Angus female and Lot 74 is no different. She might as well have been the lead off heifer in our sale, that is how good she is. This young female has breed average birth and front-end growth and should provide all the mating flexibility a cattleman needs. She has a feminine front and great structure to last for years and we would expect her to be a producer in any operation.

Hoss N502 was raised by a cow who has stood the test of time and has had numerous progeny named by the family. If you have been with us long enough...Meatball, T-bone and Hamburger might ring a bell! Those names were given to Lot 75’s brothers over the years not because we had to eat our mistakes, but because her dam, DHCC Hondo B428, is an absolute All Star and a female you can truly rest your hat on! Every year she simply got the job done. We would expect nothing less from her daughter as we have already retained as many sisters of hers as we have sold brothers. By the way, they have amazing dispositions.

If you’re looking for phenotype and data, this young female has those to offer.

Commercial Cattle

buy back Program inVeSt in our geneticS...We inVeSt in you! It really is that simple...

Commercial Heifer Groups

The Commercial Heifer Groups come from a selected group off of the farm of Darren Hodgkinson of Pratt, KS, Maier Farms of Hoisington, KS and Zeigler Farms of Natoma, KS. All of these operations are long-term customers of ours who have repeatedly used our sires on their cow herd. These heifers represent the top 60% of their 2025 calf crop. All operations are Commercial Red Angus and Red SimAngus. Many of these heifers carry Simmental in their pedigrees, but nothing past 1/2 SM x 1/2 AR. These females have all been calf hooded, palpated, received a third round of shots as well as Multimin.

These heifers have been grouped by weight and frame scores, which were taken on 1-27-2026. They will be sold as groups of five. If buyers take all five, they can purchase the next group of five for the same price. The buyer will not be allowed to sort through the group; they must take all five. These heifers are guaranteed open and with a viable reproductive tract.

The use of cross bred females in the commercial cow/calf operation can be a very profitable scenario as we see continued longevity and reproductive efficiencies from these cattle... they do not miss on the performance side of things either!

RED ANGUS MARKETING PROGRAMS

How to Enroll in Angus Access & Allied Access

1. Contact the Red Angus valueadded department at 940-477-4593 and complete a short supplier enrollment questionnaire over the phone. RAAA staff will ask general management, animal identification and breeding questions. If needed, the producer may be asked to supply additional documentation on breeding such as semen receipt, lease agreements or information on purchased females.

2. After all documentation is recorded, staff will ship the tags directly to the producer who must tag the calves before they leave the ranch of origin – birth, branding, preconditioning, weaning or before loading on the semi.

3. The producer will receive a customer enrollment agreement to fill out and return to RAAA with a copy of their calving records.

4. Staff will issue the USDAapproved Certificate of Compliance upon receiving the customer enrollment agreement and calving record.

Announcements — Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the information printed in this catalog.

Purchaser’s Risk and Insurance — Each animal becomes the risk of the buyer as soon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the seller to see that the animals are well cared for until possession exchange occurs. Exchange of animal(s) must be made within two weeks of the day of the sale. Insurance of purchase(s) is not provided, but is recommended as transportation is at the risk of the buyer. In the event an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the seller if in good condition and complying with the health requirements of the seller’s stats. The seller shall be entitled to six months of trial after the animal is returned to prove that the animal is a breeder. If at the end of six months the seller is unable to prove that the animal is a breeder, the seller shall, at the option of the buyer, replace the animal with another of equal value or refund the purchase price. Any collection will be done at Diamond H Ranch’s expense and at the purchaser’s convenience.

Rights and Obligations — The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding on both. Animals resold following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the parties connected there are not covered by the above terms and conditions of this sale. Neither the owners, auctioneers, nor any other person connected with the management or conduct of this sale assumes any liability, legal or otherwise, except as set forth.

Fun Facts About the Ranch

» We have been in the seedstock business for almost two decades!

» We have hosted 9 Private Treaty sales and 9 Production Sales (this will be our 10th)!

» In April of 2022, a wind storm tore through the ranch and caused a significant amount of damage to our feed trucks, barns and corrals. Even though it was devastating at the time, we were able to rebuild stronger than before and are now on our 3rd year of being able to host the sale right here at the ranch!

» We have been through 2 droughts, both lasting nearly 3 years...we will never stop praying for rain!

» We own six Quarter Horses (Sam, Doc, Major, Willy, Ace and Tez) and two Border Collies (Duke and Deets) who get used regularly for ranch duties! We also own a Lab (Ike)...he’s just here for the left over T-Bones and moral support!

» We are a growing family of six and when we’re not chasing cattle...we’re chasing kiddos!

» Aside from ranching, Justin also owns and operates a construction and electrical contracting company with his family (he is truly a man of many talents and wears numerous hats daily)!

» A few years ago, we were featured as the American Simmental Association’s Spotlight in The Register!
