Welcome

BULL SALE

SATURDAY, MARCH 21, 2026 | 5 PM CST | GREENLEAF, KANSAS

We are excited and proud to bring you this offering. The bulls represent generations of A.I., using what we feel are the best the Angus and Simmental breed has to offer.

They are bred to calve easy, grow fast, hang Prime carcasses, sire females that do what they are designed to do... all while looking good.

Pounds are still what it is all about. Genetic added pounds are the most profitable kind.

We are confident these bulls add genetic, not just fed, pounds to your calf crops. Please reach out with any questions!

We look forward to seeing you March 21 in Greenleaf!

DNA TESTING

We have recorded generations of our cow herd data through the American Angus Association. This year, we tested the bulls with the HD50K Zoetis DNA test. Adding a genetic profile to a young bull’s EPD profile allows us to view him as if we have already recorded up to 20 of his progeny. This is just another way we are able to help you make the best breeding decisions for your herd.

WHAT ARE EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCES (EPD s )?

An EPD is a prediction of how future progeny of a sire or dam are expected to perform in various production and carcass traits that are measurable. EPDs are expressed in actual pounds, square inches, or centimeters (depending on the trait), plus or minus what you can expect in the weights or measurements of progeny sired by a particular animal as compared with another animal. The EPDs of the animals listed in this sale book can be compared to other animals of the same breed. However, you cannot compare across breeds, so always compare apples to apples.

PERCENT RANK

Provided under each EPD shows the bull’s ranking in the American Angus Association/American Simmental Association data base (1% representing the best among database contemporaries). If you are making selection decisions for traits based on the EPD provided, then the EPDs should be considered the selection tool of choice.

$ VALUE INDEXES

Multi-trait selection indexes, expressed in dollars per head, assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.

PLEASE NOTE

Any EPD category that ranks in the Top 35% or higher among the breed percentile rankings will be highlighted in LIGHT RED.

We hope this assists buyers in better selecting for the genetics and areas of improvement they desire.

HOW TO READ THE RESULTS.

CALVING EASE DIRECT (CED), characterizes an animal’s genetic potential for unassisted births in first-calf heifers, with a higher value being more favorable to influence calving ease.

BIRTH WEIGHT (BW), is an indicator of calf weight, with a lower value characterizing lighter birth weight calves.

WEANING WEIGHT (WW), is an expression of genetic potential for calf weight at weaning, with a higher value indicating more pounds of weaning growth.

YEARLING WEIGHT (YW), describes an animal’s potential for postweaning gain measured near one year of age, with a higher value reflecting more total pounds.

DOCILITY (DOC), is the animal’s genetic potential to be extremely calm, or to have calm offspring. Higher values indicate an improvement in cattle temperament.

MATERNAL CALVING EASE (CEM), characterizes an animal’s genetic potential for unassisted births in first-calf daughters. A higher value would indicate more favorable genetics for the ease with which daughters calve as first-calf heifers.

MATERNAL MILK (MILK), is an indicator of milk and mothering ability as expressed in daughters. A higher value characterizes more milk expressed in pounds of weaning weight in a daughter’s calves.

CARCASS WEIGHT (CW), is a genetic predictor of hot carcass weight as measured at harvest time. A higher value characterizes more pounds expressed.

HEIFER PREGNANCY (HP), is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first-calf heifers during a normal breeding season. A higher EPD is the more favorable direction and the EPD is reported in percentage units.

MARBLING EPD (MARB), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

RIBEYE AREA EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

FAT THICKNESS EPD (FAT), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

WEANED CALF VALUE ($W), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for preweaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustments associated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk and mature cow size.

FEEDLOT VALUE ($F), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires.

GRID VALUE ($G), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires.

BEEF VALUE ($B), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires.
