RedFest Red Angus Spring Bull and Female Sale

Page 1

Welcome to RedFest!

Last year I started this article by saying it was a great time to be in the cattle industry, but never would I have guessed that the markets would treat us even better this year! The markets continue to reward cattlemen for their hard work and the quality of their cattle. Darrell Peel (Ag Economist for Oklahoma State University) and others are saying that the rebuilding of our national cow herd has still not started. When it does, what will we rebuild with? What does your herd need to improve? What cow or feeder traits will help you weather the more difficult times that we know will eventually come?

RedFest was founded by four families that share a desire for calm temperament, low maintenance, quality cow herds. I still feel blessed to work with this diverse group of people who have a wide range of experiences. We have the privilege of gaining wisdom from people with a background in cattle feeding, sale barn management, veterinary medicine, and of course genetics. Having said that, we each have our own separate breeding and feeding philosophies. This allows us to provide a more diverse group of bulls to meet any need that a herd may require. Need an emphasis on carcass traits? We’ve got that. Need moderate cows? We can help you make them. Need calving ease for heifers? We’ve got that. We have just enough diversity of sire groups to give you a wide selection of bulls to choose from and add genetic diversity to your herds. You will find bulls from some of the best bloodlines available and cow families that have impacted our industry nationally. We also work hard to provide you with the information you need to help you make those decisions with confidence.

Feel free to call any of our breeders and ask questions about their cattle. We all want to help you produce better feeder calves. We also want to help you produce replacement heifers that are easy to live with for the next 10 years, no matter what the markets bring next.
