Fellow cattlemen, With this years drought and heat, management was altered to account for the lesser forage production by grazing old stockpiled grass, weaning earlier than normal, and getting to stalk grazing much earlier. Through these conditions, we still had good weaning weights, terrific conception, and the cattle held condition very well. Hopefully the current year will be back to “normal� (if there is such a thing), but if it is not, you can count on our genetics to carry through more efficiently or effective than any others. As we prepare for our 2013 Sale, we have proven many times these bulls will perform in all aspects of the industry today and bring you a profit in any production environment. Bulls are produced by females with function and performance in an environment of minimal inputs that include early spring and summer grass (no creep), fall and winter residue grazing, and hay in the months (partially when possible) of February, March and April. If they failed to produce acceptable progeny in with this program, and on a timely basis, they are no longer part of the program. While we realize you cannot starve a profit out of your cowherd, we feel this minimal input environment and management practice, combined with the right type genetics, will allow us to always meet and most likely far exceed your expectations of your genetic purchase. As Dr. Lalman previously stated in Beef Magazine; it is hard to find seedstock producers willing to put their cattle through this hardship. We definitely are! TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Cattle will sell under the Standard Terms and Conditions recommended by the American Angus Association. The terms of the sale are cash. All settlements must be made at the close of the auction. Any disputes as to bids shall be settled by the auctioneer, whose decision shall be final and shall bind purchases to the announcement of the sale and sale price. Special care has been taken to insure the accuracy in the matter of pedigrees and information included in this catalog, but we are not to be held responsible for any error which may appear and is beyond our control. Corrections that may be discovered prior to the sale will be announced at the time of selling.
WARRANTY: All bulls selling for over $2,800 are warranted against breeding injury or death for the first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90day period following the first turn-out of the bulls. Notification must be received by the breeder upon death and veterinarian certified, or notice by September 1, 2013. A replacement bull will be awarded if one is available, or credit will be at 50% of the purchase price less salvage value to be applied to a purchase in next year’s sale.

HERD HEALTH and TESTING: All cattle were vaccinated with two doses of modified live vaccine including IBR, PI3, BRSV, BVD and Pasteurella, as well as a Clostridial 7-Way/ Haemophilus vaccination. They were poured in the fall and winter with Ivermectin for internal and external parasites. Out of-state buyers will be furnished with necessary health papers. All work performed by Dr. Chris Hytrachs, 402/230-0869. The Lienemann cowherd receives annual vaccinations protocols as recommended for the environment they are contained.
SEMEN TESTING: All bulls in the sale have passed a breeding soundness exam consisting of semen evaluation for motility, morphology, concentration and presence of WBC’s. They were also checked to be free of penile warts.
EXTENDED CARE and/or DELIVER: Arrangements for extended care of Bulls through the end of April can be made the sale day, and based on a $2.50 per day for extended care. Also, delivery arrangements can be made for the bulls.
RETAINING INTEREST: Bulls identified in the footnotes or on the auction block sell accordingly. This does not restrict your use as you retain full possession. Any collection or marketing will be at the convenience of the buyer.
INSPECTION OF CATTLE: Bulls are available for inspection any-time prior to the sale at our facilities, or on Saturday, March 9th in the yards at Beatrice 77.

NUTRITION: The bulls are not creep fed. They were preconditioned and weaned on grass range, and then backgrounded on long stem grass hay and a low starch, high protein hand fed mix ration post weaning. On October 20th and for 120 days, the bulls were transitioned to high roughage TMR, and worked up to a high roughage 56 mega cal diet to identify their genetic potential. Bulls were fed to gain 3.25 ADG. That period is identified as the ADG factor.

Grid Topper a Pathfinder Sire
Grid Topper genetics influence many of the sire prospects on the 2013 Lienetics Sale. He has more than proven himself ; 2 years ago he earned the status as a Pathfinder Sire. Only a small percentage of sires ever achieve this status. The Pathfinder Angus program identifies superior cows in the breed based on their records of performance fro Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR). In identifying these superior cows, emphasis is placed on early puberty, breeding and early calving, followed by regularity of calving and above-average performance of the offspring. While outstanding cows can be identified after their first or second calves, the Pathfinder Report requires a minimum of three calves from a cow to determine her regularity of calving and ability to produce superior calves for weaning weight year after year. In addition, an important part of the report is the list of bulls that have sired five or more qualifying females.

This outcross bull has terrific calving ease with a CED in the top 1%, and combines that with abundant muscle. He is moderate in frame, clean-made, correct in structure, and with a very good disposition. His first calf dam stems from the most prolific and productive cow family at Lienemann Cattle and is by Optimum Impact. She would be described in those terms as well, with very good volume of rib, maternally savvy, and has an excellent udder structure as do all of the impact daughters. The sire is a standout CE bull for Accelerated Genetics, and ranks in the top 2% of the breed for $W, as is exemplified on this low BW, high WW bull.

EPDs and $Values We have the following abbreviations throughout this book with regard to EPDs and actual data. $ Values are expressed in terms of real dollars for a combination of related traits. Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Re-
member, no EPD is an absolute. It simply allows you to compare genetic differences in sires. $Value indexes, are multi-trait selection indexes to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. $Values are reported in dollars per head, where a higher value is more favorable. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.
