An evening of foot-tappin’ high lonesome sounds by two of the finest bluegrass bands from the US. Grammy-award winning guitarist Peter Rowan spent his early years playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe, followed by a stint in Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia. The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band features Jody Stecher, mandolin; Keith Little, banjo; and Paul Knight on bass. Claire Lynch’s first success came with the Front Porch String Band. She has been nominated for several Grammys for her solo work and has sung on albums by Ralph Stanley, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Patty Loveless, Dolly Parton, John Starling and Pam Tillis.

The key members of the classic line up of legendary rock band Yes, Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman join forces for a one-off exclusive project. A full evening featuring superb classic Yes material and exclusive debut performances of new jointly composed Anderson Wakeman songs written especially for this project, intertwined with hilarious anecdotes from the two celebrated ambassadors of rock. Celebrate Black History Month with this entertaining show of music for voice and piano by black composers. Local boy Tayo Aluko, a Baritone, known for his award-winning play Call Mr. Robeson, is joined by Raewyn Bailey on piano and the American Countertenor Darryl Taylor, an authority on American song, especially music by African Americans. Roop Kumar Rathod is one of Bollywood's soundtrack heroes. Three of the world’s leading roots musicians sharing their Celtic, Nordic and Appalachian cultures in a melodically and rhythmically exciting collaboration. Aly Bain is Scotland’s supreme traditional style fiddler. With multi-instrumentalist Ale Möller, he recently created the album Fully Rigged celebrating their shared Nordic heritage. American fiddler Bruce Molsky has for twenty years explored traditional music from an astonishingly broad range of cultures.

I am not the only one with tears in my eyes.’ Hugh Masekela is one of jazz’s greatest horn London Evening Standard players. He was the first African to top the American singles charts, with 1968’s Grazing In The Grass, which he played at the Word Cup concert, and lent his trumpet sound to the Graceland tour with Paul Simon. He has been an outspoken figure in the struggle for civil rights on both sides of the Atlantic and spent his career pushing musical boundaries, adopting township jazz, funk and hip-hop into his music. He is perhaps South Africa’s most enduring musical ambassador. Although The Mahotella Queens had their first hit in 1964, few voices sound fresher than those of Hilda Tloubatla, Nobesuthu Mbadu and Mildred Mangxola, the three queens of mbaqanga, the soulful Zulu jazz that dominated township music in the apartheid era. From the early 1970s they were one of South Africa’s foremost acts. After apartheid, they become one of the country’s most important cultural exports, standard bearers for the rainbow nation. Delving into an often overlooked period of flamenco history, Paco Peña explores the many dance styles that emerged through the migration of Spanish performers to Latin America in the early 1900s, and their significant impact on flamenco today. The show, which had its world premiere at the Sadler’s Wells theatre last year, is spectacular and features a stage full of dancers from Peña's own company, a guest dancer from Venezuela and a band of virtuoso musicians and singers performing live. The inaugural Irish Sea Sessions is part super group, part colossal session and part festival, all in a single gig. With a successful recording career spanning over 35 years Moore is one of contemporary Irish music's best-loved singer/songwriters. Starting life out as a founder of 70s folk band Planxty and then Moving Hearts in the 80s, Moore is now best-known as a solo folk singer/songwriter, guitarist and bodhran player. His stature and influence in Irish roots music is unparalleled.

Featuring Gwlym Simcock on piano and Asaf Sirkis on a custom built percussion set of frame drums, bass Udu, and hang drum, they mix a range of rhythms from the Middle East, Spain and South America with highly interactive and lyrical jazz. The world’s leading acoustic guitarists perform their latest compositions and exchange musical ideas in concert. Brian Gore invites Alexandre Gismonti, an exciting young Brazilian guitarist and son of the legendary Egberto Gismonti, and Pino Forastiere from Italy, a leading player of the contemporary steel string guitar to join him in a special evening of solos and duets that highlight the virtuosity and diversity of the acoustic guitar. He is a superb interpreter of traditional music and song from both sides of the Atlantic and has worked with Jackson Browne, David Lindley, June Tabor, Martin Carthy, Martin Taylor and Eric Bibb. He is both spell-binding and highly entertaining, a master of his craft. The guitarist and singers’ distinctive musical style merges jazz, blues, folk, funk and pop. Self-described as ‘distressed string band music for the 21st century’, Les Triaboliques are a trio who all played a major role in the development of global music. Justin Adams on guitar is best-known for his work with Robert Plant and his African fusion duets with Juldeh Camara. On saz and cumbus (the Middle Eastern long-necked lute and banjo), Lu Edmonds, who has played with everyone from Billy Bragg to the Mekons and Public Image Ltd, and on mandolin and banjo Ben Mandelson, the founder of WOMEX. The band mixes their global influences skilfully creating a new and beautiful acoustic pop sound. The grand-nephew of jazz legend Django Reinhardt is possibly one of Europe’s finest gypsy guitarists from the most famous gypsy family. On their first ever tour of these shores Lulo and his band, comprising guitar, violin, bass, drums and keys, combine pure gypsy-swing with elements of Latin music like flamenco, tango and bossa nova.
