Van driver charged with Town demolishes “zombie house” in Syosset rape of disabled woman

The Town of Oyster Bay demolished an abandoned home on Ann Drive in Syosset. Crews from the Town of Oyster Bay recently commenced the demolition of a dilapidated zombie home on Ann Drive in Syosset. The town called the house a longtime eyesore following years of neglect and complaints from neighbors. “This structure was in very poor condition after being left abandoned and falling into a severe and significant state of disrepair. The Town received numerous complaints from neighbors concerning the condition of the property, and inspectors found various signs of neglect in violation of Town Code,” said Town Super-

visor Joseph Saladino. “The interior was filthy throughout, with signs of leaks and extensive damages, leaving it unsanitary and uninhabitable. Nassau County Police charged a Roosevelt man for multiple sexual encounters that police say occurred between March 2022 through September 12, 2025 in Jericho. According to Special Victims Squad Detectives, Steven Harrison, 62 of Roosevelt, was a van driver employed by the Association for the Help of Retarded Children (AHRC). According to police, beginning on March of 2022, while driving a female victim home as part of his route Harrison would stop at the parking lot of the Home Depot located at 86 Jericho Turnpike and have inappropriate sexual contact with the 24-years-old victim. On September 18, 2025 the victim, who is now 27 yearsold, informed a family member of the encounters and they reported the incidents to police. Harrison was placed See page 6
