The Jericho scores for proficiency in English and Math for third to eighth grade students were the second highest in New York State, according to the New York State Department of Education test results. Jericho Superintendent Hank Grishman announced the results at the School Board meeting Thursday, and thanked the faculty and staff for the "incredible job" they did during the pandemic. He praised the students for maintaining their education during "these challenging times." The tests measured "proficiency" in math and English for stu-
dents in grades three to eight for the 2021-22 school year. Jericho scored an 87 percent proficiency in math and 88 percent proficiency in English. These scores were the highest of any of the Long Island district schools. Only the Bronxville (Westchester) School District scored higher than Jericho state-wide, registering 88 percent in Math and 89 percent in English. Five other Long Island school districts were ranked among the top ten out of more than 600 school districts throughout New York State: East Williston, Herricks, North Shore, Manhasset and Great Neck.
