Rain Garden volunteers needed
The Town of Oyster Bay is seeking volunteers to help plant and maintain the Town of Oyster Bay’s Rain Gardens, which are a critical element of the Town’s pollution prevention strategy. During the Rain Garden Work Party scheduled for Saturday,
September 28, volunteers are needed to assist with weeding, raking, pruning, mulching, and transplanting existing rain gardens, while learning about the environmental benefits these structures offer. The event will be held from 9am to 12pm at the

The 20th annual Syosset Street Fair, hosted by the Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Sunday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., between Jackson Avenue, Underhill Boulevard, and Cold Spring Road. Over 200 vendors, including food, artisans, small businesses, and local officials, will participate. Chamber President Russell Green, who has led the Chamber since 2021, expressed excitement about the event. “This year we will have reserved spots for booths by all of the tremendous sponsors of our Street Fair. Most will be set up in the central area, between the Shell gas station and Syosset LIRR. Each one will be in a prime spot and get to network with the community and present their products and services,” he explained. This year, 5% of all sales will benefit the Children’s Orchestra Society and Tempo Group counseling services. Additionally, See page 10
Vote set on Syosset school bond proposals BY MEG MORGAN NORRIS On Tuesday, October 1st, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., residents of the Syosset Central School District will have the opportunity to cast their votes on two bond proposals aimed at upgrading school facilities to accommodate structural maintenance, replace aging temporary classroom spaces, and prepare for projected enrollment growth. The referendum features two separate propositions, the first of which must pass for the second to be approved. District officials are urging the community to carefully consider both proposals, which they believe are critical for meeting the educational needs of current and future students. See page 10
