Foresto named president of Jericho School Board Dr. Chris Foresto, who is serving his first term as a member of the Jericho School Board, was elected president at the Board of Education's monthly meeting July 1. Dr. Foresto, a radiologist, was elected over the objection of Board trustee Sam Perlman, who argued that Foresto should be disqualified because one of his three children attends a private school. Perlman's objection sparked a heated debate between the two men, with Perlman contending that Foresto's election would send a negative message to the community about the quality of Jericho schools. Foresto argued that the decision to attend a private, parochial school was his son’s and that “Our son wanted a spiritual experience that public schools do not offer.” Foresto’s son attends Chaminade, a top rated boys school in Mineola. Although Perlman said his objection to Foresto “was not personal,” a heated discussion ensued and Foresto was elected president 4 to 1. Former Board president Jill Citron was elected vice president.
