Town honors IDF soldier
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino (front row left) and his colleagues on the Town Board recognized Plainview resident Ira Kohler. A dual citizen, Ira was serving in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) when the Hamas terror attack took place on October 7. A member of Paratrooper Battalion 890, Kohler served in the combat zone and, although home in the United States, continues to advocate for the return of Plainview resident Omer Neutra, an IDF solider held captive by Hamas since October. A graduate of Solomon Schechter School of Long Island and the University of Delaware, Kohler was proudly presented a Town citation by Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Receiver of Taxes Jeffrey Pravato.
