Road dedicated to honor former Hicksville fire chief
Local officials recently joined with the Hicksville Fire Department to dedicated a stretch of Levittown Parkway in honor of Ex-Chief Owen Magee. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently joined with Hicksville Fire Department Chief Joseph DiFronzo, the Board of Fire Commissioners and all the members of the Hicksville Fire Department in ceremoniously dedicating a stretch of Levittown Parkway in honor of Ex-Chief Owen Magee and his extraordinary lifelong commitment to the fire service. Supervisor Saladino stated,
“Owen Magee has dedicated his life to protecting our families and community, whether in the United States Navy or in the Hicksville Fire Department. With seven decades of service to others, we proudly dedicate the roadway in front of the Station 4 Firehouse as ‘Ex-Chief Owen Magee Plaza’ and will forever remember Owen for his sacrifices on behalf of our nation and community.” Owen Magee served in the
United States Navy from 1962 to 1964 and dedicated himself to safeguarding American democracy. He joined the Hicksville Fire Department as a member of Engine Company 7 nearly seven decades ago and pledged himself to protect the lives and property of his neighbors in times of emergency. Dogs attack child, adults
Two adults and a child were bitten by a pair of dogs in an incident on Lantern Road in Hicksville on Tuesday, October 15. According to Nassau County Police, when they arrived at the scene at 12:20 pm they observed two dogs in the attack. After the
dogs were secured by animal control, the two adult victims were transported to local area hospitals for treatment of leg injuries. The juvenile victim was airlifted to Cohens Children’s Hospital for treatment of facial injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
