Hicksville FD announces 9/11 observances Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department Chief of Department Christopher Wright has announced plans for the community’s commemoration of the 25th remembrance of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Family members, friends, firefighters and community residents are invited to gather on Friday, September 11, and Sunday, September 13, to remember those who lost their lives and honor the courage, sacrifice and unity demonstrated in the aftermath of the attacks. “As we mark 25 years since September 11, 2001, we remain committed to ensuring that the lives lost, the sacrifices made and the courage shown on that day are never forgotten,” Chief Wright said. “We invite every member of our community to stand with us as we remember our fallen brothers, our neighbors and all those whose lives were forever changed.” As the nation also observes America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, these solemn events will provide an opportunity to reflect upon the enduring values of unity, resilience and freedom that have sustained the United States through its greatest triumphs and most difficult challenges.
The Hicksville Fire Department invites the entire community to stand together in remembrance of the innocent lives lost, in support of their families and in solidarity against the hatred that fueled the attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. “This remembrance is not only about looking back at the tragedy of September 11,” Fire Commissioner Robert Dwyer said. “It is also about recognizing the strength of our community, the dedication of our first responders and the responsibility we all share to teach future generations what happened and why we must always remember.”
