Syosset Schools bond vote passes The results of the Syosset Central School District Facilities Improvement Bond vote are as follows: Proposition 1 was approved by the voters 1,175 to 883. 2024 Syosset All-State Student Musicians Forty-eight Syosset High School student-musicians were selected as 2024 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State musicians. Nearly 30 of the students were selected to participate in AllState Ensembles. They will have the opportunity to work with world-class conductors for three days, leading up to a performance at the historic Eastman Theater in Rochester during the NYSSMA Winter Conference this December. Vacant hotel to become student housing units BY GARY SIMEONE The long-vacant Hampton Inn in Jericho will be put to good use after a ruling by Nassau County, to convert the building into student-housing for NYIT (New York Institute Technology) students. The hotel, which is located at 120 Jericho Turnpike , will be transformed into a stateof-the-art dormitory for NYIT students pursuing professional degrees in architectural, engineering design and other studies. Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor, Joseph Saladino, who was instrumental in securing the funds for the project, said that the building

will become an educational landmark for students. “This building will start a new chapter in life as student housing for New York Tech students,” said Saladino. “This project helps nurture academic excellence while fostering a vibrant campus community desired by students seeking professional advancement through higher education.” In 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, former Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, formulated a plan to purchase and convert the Hampton inn into a See page 10
