Town to offer Valentines Vow Renewals

Youth violence sparks arrests Nassau County Police arrested three teenagers after an incident in a Syosset playground on Friday, January 17. According to detectives, two 17-year-old male juvenile victims were at the Crocus Drive Playground where they arranged to meet three other male juveniles. Police say that upon arrival, the three male subjects forcibly grabbed the victims and threw them to the ground, while striking them numer-

ous times with closed fists. According to police, the subjects then taped the victims' mouths shut and began shaving their heads before removing various items from their pockets and fleeing scene. After an investigation, police located and arrested the three male juvenile subjects, whose names were not released. They were each charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree.

Bicyclist killed in crash with truck A 51-year-old bicyclist was killed on Saturday, January 18, on the Long Island Expressway South Service Road in Syosset when he struck a legally parked tractor trailer.

According to Nassau County Police, the bicyclist was traveling between exits 43 and 44 of the expressway at 9 am when the crash occurred. The bicyclist, Charlermchai Losirisup, age 51,

of Great Neck was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the police, no criminality was involved.

Jericho resident Jessie (Xuanyan) Gong, ‘25, a senior at The Waldorf School of Garden City, won first prize in the Senior Division of the 11th Yamaha USASU International Piano Competition. The event, held at Arizona State University, attracted 350 applicants from 33 countries, with only 43 pianists advancing to the final rounds.
