POB Library blood drive collects 50 units

Drucker (D – Plainview) thanked the more than 50 donors who took part in his office’s Saturday, Dec. 28, blood drive at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library. Paired with the platelet donors who rolled up their sleeves, the blood drive yielded contributions

that will be put to good use in saving more than 150 lives. For giving the gift of life, each donor received vouchers for two tickets to an upcoming New York Islanders home game. “Every person who donated this weekend performed an invaluable service and helped to address our region’s stubbornly persistent blood shortage emer-

gency,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “Their selfless actions truly embody the spirit of the holiday season, and I am so grateful to all of our donors and partners at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, the New York Blood Center and the New York Islanders for embracing this crucial endeavor.”

TOB: Special skating sessions for MLK Day The Town of Oyster Bay has announced that residents looking for a fun way to spend their Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday can head to one of the Town's three ice skating facilities, where holiday hours will be in place, offering extended public skating opportunities. Jericho student stars in new movie BY GARY SIMEONE Austen Shane, a sophomore at Jericho High School, received the biggest break of his young acting career when he landed the role of Tiny Tim in the new Christmas film, “Ebenezer the Traveler.” The new film debuted earlier this month on both Amazon Prime and Apple TV. Shane, who began his acting career at the age of four, said that the audition for the

new Christmas movie, was an interesting experience. “The main audition was held right after the pandemic ended through Google Zoom online,” said Shane. “When I logged in all of the cast members were already talking in British accents getting themselves into character. I started talking British too but they kind of ignored me at first. So I said to them you’re quite rude, which had everyone cracking up. I think See page 6
