Two lifelong “Garden City guys” entered 2026 with a local business venture aimed at serving area residents and boosting the day-to-day local economy. Kyle Irwin and Michael Comiskey first met as two-and-a-half-year-olds attending Garden City Nursery School in the mid-1990s. Today, the pair are grown men, college graduates, hardworking young professionals, and the co-owners of the Stewart Manor Laundromat at 90 Covert Avenue. In front of a large gathering of family, lifelong friends, customers new and old, and fellow businesspeople on Saturday, January 31st, the team at Stewart Manor Laundromat was formally welcomed by the two governing bodies that manage the business district streetscape bordering two villages: trustees and administrators from the Village of Floral Park and the Village of Stewart Manor. Attendees at the official grand opening ceremony included Floral Park Deputy Mayor Dr. Lynn Pombonyo, Trustees Michael Longobardi, Jennifer Stewart, and Frank Chiara, and Floral

Park Clerk Joseph O’Grady. The presidents of the two local business advocacy and networking organizations— Shane Parouse of the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce and Rene Galietti Jorglewich of the Covert Avenue Chamber of Commerce—were also in attendance, offering encouragement and support to the young entrepreneurs. Michael Comiskey was joined by his twin sister Maggie, brother Charlie Jr., their mother Stacy Comiskey, and father Charles Comiskey at the grand opening, where light refreshments, wraps, and cookies were served. Surrounded by local friends from Garden City—and a handful who attended elementary or middle school with the business partners—the owners spoke about their deep connections to the community, both new and longstanding. Irwin said there is a strong sense of gratitude in working so close to where they grew up and in seeing how the community benefits from an upgraded local laundry service. Kyle attended Chaminade High School, while Michael See page 4
