Assistant Superintendent for Business Christine Kim noted that the budget process began in October and incorporates audited financial data, projected revenues and expenditures, and broader economic and legislative factors. Total projected revenue matches expenditures at $41.9 million, resulting in a balanced budget. The tax levy is expected to total $28,571,441, with the remainder supported by state aid and other sources. Current projections show a $255,572 decrease in state aid, though final figures have not yet been adopted by the state, which was meant to happen in early April. Total state aid is estimated at $10.7 million, with Universal Pre-K funding of approximately $1.3 million provided separately through federal sources. This now-adopted budget allocates 78%, or $32.6 million, to program costs, including instruction, special education and transportation; 10%, or $4.2 million, to administrative expenses; and 12%, or $5.06 million, to capital improvements and facilities. Budget priorities include implementing a new phonics program and updated social studies curriculum, adding one and a half equivalent ICT positions to work across grade levels, expanding gifted and talented support by one full-time employee, and upgrading teacher devices.
