Hicksville Fire Department Chief Christopher Moskos has announced that the Hicksville Fire Department will commemorate the anniversary the tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001. This year’s ceremony will take place Sunday, September 11, at the Strong Street Fire Station memorial. This memorial was erected in memory of Ex-Chief Terrence Farrell and Honorary Chief George Howard, both who lost their lives while performing rescue efforts on September 11, 2001. Ex Chief Farrell, a member of Citizens Engine Company 3 and elite member of FDNY’s Rescue 4 and Honorary Chief Howard was an Ex-Captain of Emergency Company 5 and member of the Port Authority Police Department working out of JFK Airport in the Emergency Services Bureau. The chiefs, officers and members of the Hicksville Fire Department will honor the memory of Ex-Chief Farrell and Honorary Chief Howard along with those who once called Hicksville their home, who were taken from us as a result of those tragic events that occurred on September 11. This year ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. This ceremony allows the Department and community to come together in prayer and in gratitude for the strength that has fortified all of us over these past 21 years. Now is the time to remember those that were taken from us and that we stand by what we promised all those years ago, that we would “Never Forget.” The Hicksville Fire Department invites the families of those who once called Hicksville home to participate in the program. If any family members are interested, they should contact the Hicksville Fire Dept. at 931-6444, Give your contact info and someone will get back to you.
