LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
Polar Plunge at TOBAY Beach March 25
The Town of Oyster Bay invites residents to be “Freezin’ for a Reason” at the annual Polar Plunge benefitting Special Olympics New York on Saturday, March 25, at TOBAY Beach. “Many of our residents head to TOBAY Beach for summer fun, but this event provides an enjoyable and charitable reason to spend a great day at the beach much sooner,” said Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “Participants will have an opportunity to prove their mettle and their compassion by wading into the chilly waters of TOBAY Beach to raise funds for the athletes of Special Olympics New York.” The event kicks off with winter
festival fun and registration starting at 9:30 a.m., with the plunge beginning at 11 a.m. Requested donation is $25 per participant. Plungers who raise $150 receive a commemorative Polar Plunge sweatshirt. A woman visiting 7-11 in Bethpage had her car stolen when she went into the store and left her car running in the parking lot. According to Nassau County Police, on Wednesday, March 15, at 8:10 a.m., a 61-year-old female victim parked her Honda CRV in the parking lot of 7/11, located at
4220 Hempstead Turnpike. The victim left her car running while she was inside the store. When the victim returned to the parking lot an unknown subject had removed her vehicle and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing.
2 businesses burglarized
Nassau County Police say that two local businesses were burglarized on the night of Saturday, March 18. According to police, they responded to Best Image Hair Salon located at 505 Stewart Avenue, Beth-
page at 4:10 a.m. and found that the rear door had been pried open. The burglar stole approximately $200 from the register. Police also responded to the See page 8
