Hicksville schools welcome new faculty members

Hicksville FD plans September 11th commemoration Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Joseph DiFronzo has announced final plans to commemorate the twentieth-fourth anniversary of September 11th. The Hicksville Fire Department will commemorate the somber anniversary on Sunday, September 7, at the Strong Street Fire Station memorial. The memorial was erected in memory of Ex Chief Terrence Farrell and Honorary Chief George Howard, both who lost their lives while performing rescue efforts on September 11, 2001. Photo courtesy of Hicksville Public Schools Hicksville Public Schools welcomed ten new faculty members during a two-day orientation held Aug. 27-28, ahead of the start of the 202526 school year. The sessions provided an introduction to the district’s policies and procedures while also giving new staff the chance to tour their school buildings and become familiar with their new professional community.

To ensure continued growth and support, all new teachers will take part in monthly “New Teacher Workshops” designed to promote professional learning, collaboration, and mentorship throughout the year. Town plans 9/11 ceremony at TOBAY Beach The Town of Oyster Bay will be holding its Annual September 11th Memorial Ceremony on for Monday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m. at TOBAY Beach. “This year marks the 24th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, and to honor those we have lost we invite all residents to join us at our annual September 11th Memorial Ceremony. This remembrance ceremony features music, religious readings, a light tribute, and a reading of the names inscribed on the Town’s 9/11 wall,” said Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “We

will also unveil new names inscribed on both the Town’s September 11th Memorial and the ‘Walls of Honor,’ recognizing those who made the ultimate sacrifice due to 9/11-related illness.” The town’s 9/11 Memorial – featuring a steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center – is inscribed with the names of residents lost on September 11, 2001. The Walls of Honor monument expands each year with newly inscribed names of those who lost their battle with 9/11-illness caused by exposure at Ground Zero.
