Levittown Kiwanis award scholarships

New York State Senator Steve Rhoads, a proud Kiwanian himself, joined the Levittown Kiwanis Club to congratulate the 2025 recipients of the $1,000 Kiwanis Scholarships. Also honored were Ingrid Torres of Division Avenue High School and Angelina Wilmer of MacArthur High School. Hicksville man arrested for drugs, explosives Nassau County Police arrested a Hicksville man on Tuesday, August 5, for allegedly possessing large quantities of drugs as well as explosives. According to detectives, an investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration New York’s Long Island District Office Task Force, which led to the arrest of Anthony Gianatiempo, 34, who police say was found to be in possession of 59 pills believed to be pressed fentanyl, 47 pills believed to be pressed methamphetamine and 10 glass vials containing a liquid believed to be fentanyl. During the course of the investigation at the defendant’s residence, detectives say they came across multiple devices which appeared to be explosives. The Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad responded and removed five devices along with twenty-five one-pound containers of smokeless gun powder and one eight-pound container of smokeless gun powder. Detectives say they also recovered 750 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, 190 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine and 200 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. The DEA worked in conjunction with the Nassau County Police Department Narcotics/Vice Squad along with law enforcement partners from the Nassau County DA’s Office, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, the Suffolk County Police Department, Freeport Police Department and the NY State Police Department.
