Town board recognizes Levittown veteran
Ground broken to start Hicksville revitalization projects Members of the Town of Oyster Bay board joined with New York Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley, local civic and labor representatives and residents to officially break ground on several projects that are part of the greater Downtown Hicksville Revitalization Initiative. “When we first got to the Town, we immediately worked to jumpstart plans to revitalize this downtown. We were very grateful to New York State for selecting this area as the recipient of a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Ini-
tiative Grant – and we set out to make the dream of the Hicksville community a reality," said Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “With millions of dollars from the public and private sectors being invested into Hicksville, we’re enhancing and transforming the business district into a vibrant downtown,” Supervisor Saladino added. “All of the public improvement projects will soon be complimented with various beautification and pedestrian improvements See page 8

The medal was accepted by Robert’s wife, Frances. Also attending was Nassau County Legislator John Ferretti.
Robert was a U.S. Army veteran who was a life member in the Levittown VFW Post 9592. Robert was beloved by his fellow veterans, referring to him as the most enthusiastic patriot they had ever met. Robert served as a historian at both the Museum of American Armor and the Long Island Living History Association, participating in
re-enactments and teaching new members how to respectfully honor veterans of the past wars. As the Inslee family has served in the United States Armed Forces since the Spanish-American War, it is no surprise that Robert’s wife, Frances, served by his side as President of the Levittown VFW Auxiliary.
