OUR VALUE OF THE WEEK
LIVING OUR VALUES TO TAKE US FROM GOOD TO GREAT
6 – 10 July 2020
Living our values to take us from good to great. This week, let us focus on the value of
Quality Services As the core of our mandate is around service delivery, we need to constantly reflect on how we are serving our stakeholders. So, what are we required to do in order to deliver quality services to our stakeholders, both internal and external? • Professionalism • Being orientated towards service fulfilment • Exceeding expectations • Meticulousness • Adhering to standards • Consistency • Living the Batho Pele Principles Many colleagues are demonstrating this value as confirmed by stakeholder feedback. Our collective efforts contribute to the stakeholder perception of our organisation. Let us represent the W&RSETA brand well.
MEET THE NEW CHIEF OFFICER: CORPORATE SERVICES On Wednesday, 1 July 2020, we welcomed our new Chief Officer: Corporate Services, Mr Sunshine Ngcobo. WEBSITE MIGRATION
The W&RSETA website has been migrated from the SoluGrowth system to the SETA as part of the Information and Communication Technology strategy. Nambithi Solutions has been appointed to manage the website and related services. As a result of the migration, we took the opportunity to incorporate a few new features to improve the website. So, don’t be surprised when the website looks a little different as a few new features have been incorporated to improve navigation and align with current trends. We are experiencing a few teething challenges and as a result there will be some delays in website updating and distribution of stakeholder communication.
COVID-19 EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGN With the country easing lockdown restrictions, there is an increase in the movement of people increasing the risk of infection. Positive COVID-19 cases are rising at an alarming level and it is now more important than ever to minimise our movements. But, because we have to leave our homes for work and to get essential services and products, here are some pointers on what you can do to protect yourself: Here are key measures you need to take into consideration when you go shopping • Only go to the shops if necessary • Keep the social distance of at least 1.5 m • Cover your mouth and nose with a mask • If possible shop during off-peak hours • Disinfect shopping trolleys and baskets with wipes, if available • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth • Use touchless payment systems, if available • Use hand sanitiser directly after paying with cash or touching a keypad • Use hand sanitiser after leaving the store, then wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds once home. Online shopping is the safest option for consideration.
The following are hygiene and travel guidelines • Please ensure that the windows are open in a taxi or bus • Use a hand sanitiser and avoid touching your face • Do not travel if you have a fever • Wear a protective mask or scarf all the time • Ensure that you they have the correct taxi fare amount to minimise exchange of money at the taxi rank. • Ensure surface hygiene as far as possible during the trip
ATMS • Use sanitising wipes at the ATM • Maintain a 1.5 m distance from another person at the ATM queue • Minimise unnecessary contact with the ATM surface • To avoid going to the ATM, make all the transactions online

KNOW YOUR POLICIES
In this edition of the policy education, we highlight the key components of the Sponsorship Policy. The purpose of this feature is to improve understanding and compliance with policies that govern our operations. Sponsorship Policy The SETA frequently receives requests from stakeholders for support of various events and/or skills development interventions. The Sponsorship Policy has been put in place to provide guidelines for considering sponsorship requests. The SETA will consider sponsorship of the following: • Skills development initiatives related to the structures of DHET and programmes organised by the W&RSETA constituent organisations. • Requests of an exceptional nature that are not explicitly covered under the broader impact to skills development What are the qualifying criteria for sponsorship? • The sponsorship request should be aligned to the objectives of the Skills Development Act, objectives of DHET and other objectives that address the SETA’s Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan. It should also address initiatives by constituent members towards the broader SETA Research Agenda and Sector Skills Plan • Sponsorship requests must be submitted with a concept document for the event to be funded and proposed budget indicating line items that require funding • Benefits for the SETA’s sponsorship must be articulate • Proposals/requests must be submitted on the prescribed W&RSETA document at least two weeks prior to the meeting of the Internal Projects Evaluation Committee (IPEC) Exclusions The SETA will not provide funding for requests that are not related to skills development projects. Budget Sponsorship budget is allocated annually and can increase in line with the National Treasury instructions on budgeting and availability of resources.
