Tate Woods is the first school to be awarded the Association of School Library Educators Exemplary School Library for 2018-19.

Fifth grader Lydia M. received a perfect score for the Continental Math League Euclidean Division.

Lisle High School Senior Emily M. named to the Daily Herald DuPage County Academic Team.

Lisle Junior High School Boys Track Team won the SDEAA Conference Title.

The Lisle High School Softball Team wrapped up another strong season winning the Regional Championship for the fourth consecutive year. Senior Jamie K. and Sophomore Abby C. received Honorable Mentions for the Daily Herald DuPage County All-Area Softball Team.

The Lisle High School Baseball Team finished a great season winning the Regional Championship. Seniors AJ C. and Jay M. were named to the Daily Herald DuPage County All-Area Baseball Team, and AJ C. was named to the Illinois All-State 2A Baseball Team.

Lisle High School Junior Peter S. took home two silver medals at the Special Olympics State Competition: one for 50m assisted and one for 100 non-motorized wheelchair.

In its first year, the Lisle High School DECA Club (Distributive Education Clubs of America) qualified for the State competition and earned the “New Superstar Chapter Award”.
·
Elias C. and Audrey S. qualified for and competed at the International DECA competition.
·
Lisle Junior High School Wrestling Team competed in the State competition.
·
The Lisle High School Math Team won their 11th consecutive Conference Championship and competed at the State competition.
·
The Lisle High School Science Olympiad Team competed at the State competition.
·
Lisle High School Scholastic Bowl Team won the Regional Competition.
·
The Lisle High School Girls Soccer Team had a tremendous season with a record of 18-32 and finishing fourth in State. Senior Alexa F. was named to the Daily Herald DuPage County Girls All-Area Soccer Team.

The Lisle Junior High School Growing Pride Club represented the school and District at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show. They were the only non-agricultural school at the convention.

Lisle High School’s Cassidy A. competed at the State Basketball 3-Point Shootout.
·
Lisle High School Senior Charlie W. finished 15th at the State Track Meet in the discus event.

FUTURE BOUND - CLASS OF 2019 LISLE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Congratulations to our eighth graders who were officially promoted to high school on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. This class has shown its tremendous leadership through the creation and participation of new clubs, improvements in the courtyard, and through the acts of kindness and responsibility they exhibited each day.
LISLE HIGH SCHOOL The Class of 2019 clearly exhibited the leadership and commitment to excellence embodied in #ONEPRIDE. Aproximately 88% will be attending a two or four-year college, 3% will serve our Country in the Military and nearly 40% of the graduates were awarded scholarships totaling $1,503,816. Congratulations to the Class of 2019!

FACILITIES UPDATE
TATE WOODS Built in 1956, Tate Woods School originally housed grades K-5 and has since served different combinations of grade levels over the past 63 years. For the past 27 years, Tate Woods has housed Pre-Kindergarten, First and Second Grades. This year we say a fond farewell to our well loved school. The Board of Education solicited offers for the purchase of the Tate Woods building in 2018 and awarded the sale to the former lessee of the Meadows School, Kindi Academy. The private Math and Science Academy is currently working with the Village of Lisle to obtain the proper zoning. The sale is scheduled to close on May 1, 2020 for $2,555,000.
SCHIESHER
Named for long-time Lisle teacher and administrator Martha Schiesher, the original Schiesher School was comprised of the Kindergarten and Third Grade sections of the current school. The upper hallway was built as a separate building in 1962 as the first Lisle Junior High School. These two buildings were eventually connected in 1974 when Lisle Senior High School opened and junior high grades moved to the current Lisle Junior High School. For the past 27 years, Schiesher has housed Kindergarten, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades. Through it’s many transformations, Schiesher has served the Lisle community well. A committee will explore options during the coming year to assist the Board of Education in deciding the future of this facility and the property.
LOOKING AHEAD: LISLE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Lisle Junior High School was built in 1956 and was originally Lisle Community High School. In 1974, this building became the junior high when the new/current Lisle Senior High School opened. Over the years, three additions were made to the school. In 1960, the first improvement added the Library and classrooms; in 1964 additional classrooms, the lower level, and the area that is now the fitness center were built. Finally, in 1980, adjustments were made to the entrance of the school. Fifty-five years have passed since improvements were made to enhance the learning environments for our students in this school. Changes in teaching and learning call for spaces that support more collaborative, active learning. In addition, during Vision 202, community members highlighted needs such as a more secure entrance, an increase in parking and a redesigned drop-off/pick-up configuration to improve traffic patterns and safety. What’s Next? Next year, conversations with the staff, students, and community will begin to more specifically identify facility needs for Lisle Junior High School. As with Lisle Elementary School, broad-based community input will be an invaluable component of the planning process for future improvements.

LISLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS History of Lisle Elementary Schools Lisle schools have a long history of emphasizing forward thinking and student centered practices. The first Lisle school was built in the early 1800s, approximately three years after the first settlers arrived The second Lisle school is said to be the first frame school house in the county. In addition, in 1948 Lisle School was the first in the county to house a special education program for (what was then called) the EMH population. Today, as we move into a new chapter of history for our elementary school, we look forward to utilizing our new learning environments to support creativity, student growth, preparation, and innovation.

The New Lisle Elementary School Update
Lisle Elementary School has been a work in progress since 2016. Vision 202: Chapter 2 gathered community input to assist the Board of Education in determining whether to renew or replace the current elementary buildings.

Based on valued co m m u n i t y input, Vision 202 recommendations an d e x t e n s i v e professional f a c i l i t i e s evaluations, the B oa r d d e c i d e d to build a new PreKindergarten th r o u g h Fifth Grade school on District property in the Meadows subdivision.
From that point, the e xt e n s i v e year-long design process began. As the first new elementary school in Lisle 202 in more than 50 years, it was ext rem ely important to the District to design the new school w i t h e xte n s i v e input from a range of stakeholders. Parents, staff, and students all shared ideas that informed the design of our new school.
After an extensive planning and design process, the groundbreaking for Lisle Elementary School was held in May, 2018. Construction be g a n with demolition of the old Meadows School in June, 2018 and will continue through the summer at a quick pace to prepare the new learning spaces for our students beginning in the 2019-2020 school year.
Lisle Elementary Sc hool will provide state-ofthe-art learning spaces for our stud e n ts. St u d e n t s will participate in engaging learning experiences in their classrooms that are designed to support collaboration, in our STEAM lab, M a k e r S p a ce s , and other spaces specially designed to p r o m ote exploration and curiosity. More information will be shared about a Community Open House at a later date.

LEARNING & GROWING ENGAGING LEARNERS Teaching and learning at all levels integrates a variety of educational experiences. Integrating play and hands-on learning at the primary levels allows our young students to grow educationally in developmentally appropriate learning situations. As students move through the grades, engaging learning experiences continues to be a focus, allowing students to maximize their understanding through relevant, active, collaborative and rigorous activities. Students also have options within their learning continuum through topic selection, project options, accelerated and Advanced Placement courses and other learning opportunities.
MEETING THE NEEDS OF ALL LEARNERS Lisle 202 teachers work to meet the needs of all learners. Teachers use a differentiated approach to instruction and actively plan for students’ differences so that all students can best learn. Teachers divide their time, resources, and efforts to effectively teach students who have various backgrounds, readiness and skill levels, and interests. We meet our students’ needs by: • Providing differentiation by allowing students to have choice in many of their learning opportunities. • Working with small groups and individual students to target skills and provide the necessary feedback to help students move forward. • Integrating social-emotional learning throughout the day to assist students to effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
CONTINUING OUR GROWTH Curriculum
Over the past several years, Lisle 202 has worked to enhance the academic experience for our students. Some examples include: the number of Advanced Placement courses increased to 13 at the high school, providing a variety of college-level coursework to interested students and new math curricula was implemented in grades K-8 to increase the rigor and preparation of our students across the grades. We continue to evaluate, amend, and improve our curriculum each year.
Assessments
Many types of assessments are utilized throughout the school year to gather information and provide feedback for the student and teacher to best support learning. This past school year, the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) replaced the PARCC test as the state standardized assessment in grades 3-8. Like past State tests, the IAR is given in the spring to measure student achievement in relation to the Illinois Learning Standards.
Looking Ahead
We are proud of the education and opportunities provided to our students. We also recognize that there is always room to improve. We continue to explore ways to increase rigor across the grades and are committed to effectively preparing our students for their futures. We will continue our work with students, staff, community, and teachers to implement best practices and challenge our students to effectively support student growth.

2019-2020 REGISTRATION INFORMATION Returning Students The 2019-2020 School Year Registration Process consists of three main components for returning students: 1. Residency Documentation - Submit proof that you are a resident of Lisle 202 2. Online registration in PowerSchool - Update information and complete next year’s forms 3. Fee Payment - Pay fees online or at a walk-in registration for the upcoming school year Registration packets will be emailed to the parent/guardian email on file. Please confirm your email address is accurate by logging in to PowerSchool. New Residency Documentation Option
New this year, an online option is available to submit residency documents for Grades PK-8 if your child was enrolled in our schools last year and you are a homeowner or renter. High School students will still need to turn in paper copies at a Registration event in August. New Students Families new to the District including new Kindergarteners should contact the school office to set up an enrollment appointment. Health Requirements Please visit the District website for a detailed description of the Health Requirements for each grade level. Walk-in Registration Walk-in Registration events are available for each school. Students in PK-8 do not need to attend Walk-in Registration if registration and residency documentation submission are completed online. High School families must attend a Walk-in Registration event.
