A MESSAGE FROM DR. FILIPIAK Dear Lisle 202 Community, The Spring of 2020 has been an extraordinary time for our students, families, community, state, country and our world. It seems as though there has been a confluence of events that have tested us in ways we could not have imagined. However, with challenges comes community, with hardship comes lessons learned, and I believe our community will come through these times stronger together. The sudden switch this past spring to Remote Learning was a tremendous undertaking; families were asked to support student learning at home, teachers quickly incorporated new Remote Learning practices, and school leaders worked to ensure a smooth transition to remote learning while also reorganizing their schools to sustain a sense of community and coherence. Throughout the Remote Learning time, Lisle District 202 remained committed to providing continuity of education during this unprecedented time and partnered with our community to adjust and ensure our students were supported academically, socially, and emotionally. It remains true that Remote Learning days cannot replicate in-person instruction. With that said, we also recognize that in this situation where learning remotely for an extended period of time was necessary, and likely will be again in the future, advancing skills and the introduction of new material and concepts is important for our students. Looking ahead to the fall, it is still unclear what our curriculum delivery model will be due to the uncertain nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we await guidance from the State of Illinois and the Illinois State Board of Education, we are planning now for various scenarios to engage and support student learning. Lisle 202 will continue to share information with our stakeholders as it becomes available. A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION Dear Lisle 202 Community, Lisle is often described as “small”, but what our community knows is that “small” means that we know each other, we care about each other, and we support each other. Over the past three months we have seen our learning community partner to deliver education, services, food, and more in order to support each other. Our school district, together with Aramark, our food service partner, served almost 2,000 meals while our schools were closed during April and May to any child living within our district boundaries, regardless of whether they were enrolled in Lisle 202 schools. Our high school also hosted the Northern Illinois Mobile Food Pantry and served over 100 families; and these are just a few of the ways we have supported each other during this pandemic. In addition, in light of the economic conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Education approved the suspension of school registration fees for all grade levels for the 2020-2021 school year. The fee waiver covers the supply and book fees. Additional fees for optional items may still be required for items such as class fees, gym uniforms, parking fees, etc. I am proud to serve on a Board of Education that remains true to its purpose of service to the students and community. CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2020 The end of this year for the Class of 2020 certainly was unprecedented, but the hard work and many accomplishments remain the defining factors of each of our graduates. Author Maya Angelou once said, “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” The unique experiences of this time in history, for these students, will not define their future path, but rather help shape the resolve, grit, and determination with which they will face challenges in the future. Lisle Junior High School and Lisle High School are working together with students, parents, and staff, to design a promotion and graduation ceremony that honors the students in a way in which they deserve. At this time, each school has tentatively scheduled events for July, pending additional guidance from the State of Illinois and the DuPage Public Health Department. Final details will be shared directly with families and posted on the District website and social media channels.

Lisle Elementary School is excited to welcome our new class of young learners! Children whose birthday is before September 1, 2020 may enroll in Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year.
Online registration is now open for all returning students. At this time we are uncertain if walk-in registration will be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Detailed information will be shared at a later date.
