Message from the Mayor I hope you all had a wonderful summer and a chance to enjoy the summer events and beautiful outdoor spaces Arnprior has to offer. The events aren’t slowing down with our annual Haunted Hall, another month of the Arnprior Market and a new Filipino Karaoke Night Party. We are also excited to showcase the completed Nick Smith Centre Arena Revitalization with an exhibition 67's game! Get all the details on page 7. Construction of the much-anticipated Dog Park is underway as we speak and will be opening this fall! Make sure to follow along on social media or at www.arnprior.ca/dogpark for all the details on the opening. Fall is the perfect time to freshen up on fire safety and make sure you are prepared for an emergency. Emergency Services Are you Prepared?
During an emergency, you may have no electrical power or be asked to evacuate. An emergency kit contains essential items you and your household need to survive on your own for at least 72 hours. Keep a kit at home, work and in your car. Your kit should be easy to carry and portable, such as a knapsack or suitcase. Check the contents twice a year to ensure the freshness of food and water, and refresh items if needed. You can build your own or buy a pre-made one.

“Test Your Smoke Alarm Day!” is September 28. With the campaign slogan “Saved by the Beep”, all Ontarians are encouraged to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety, and home fire escape planning.
Did you know? As part of the Arnprior Fire Department Home Fire and Life Safety Program members of the department will come to your home by appointment and test your smoke and CO alarms to ensure they are working properly. The program will run from September 28until October 9, 2026. To schedule a visit online at arnprior.ca/savedbythebeep or call (613) 623 4231 ext. 2. to book your appointment! a battery-operated candle or glow-stick in jack-o-lanterns. If you use a real candle, use Halloween Use extreme caution. Make sure children are watched at all times when candles are lit. When Safety lighting candles inside jack-o-lanterns, use long, fireplace-style matches or a utility lighter. Be sure to place lit pumpkins well away from anything that can burn and far enough out of Tip 3 the way of trick-or-treaters, doorsteps, walkways and yards.
Fire Prevention Week October 4–10, 2026 If lithium-ion batteries are damaged or charged incorrectly, they can overheat, start a fire, or even explode.
Use the cord and charger that came with your device or ones approved by the manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire. Charge devices on a table, desk, or other hard, flat surface. Do not charge them on beds, couches, or under pillows. Devices and chargers produce heat during normal charging. Soft surfaces can trap heat and block airflow, which can cause the battery to overheat. Stop using your device if it feels very hot, starts to swell, is smoking, or has a strange smell. These are warning signs that the battery may be damaged or failing. Unplug your device when it is fully charged. Do not leave it plugged in longer than needed. Leaving a device plugged in too long can increase heat and stress on the battery. Charge larger items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside and away from exits. These batteries are larger and store more energy. If they fail, fires can grow quickly and spread. When on a plane, keep your device where you can see it while charging. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments. Do not charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to respond quickly.
Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week November 1-7
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is called the silent killer because it cannot be seen or smelled. CO is a poisonous gas, which can make a person feel sick and can be deadly. In the home, heating and cooking devices that burn fuel can be sources of carbon monoxide. CO Alarms should be installed outside each sleeping area. Install alarms on every level of the home. It is best to use interconnected alarms so when one sounds, all alarms in the home sound. New CO alarm requirements apply to all existing and new homes and multi-unit buildings that have: A fuel-burning appliance (furnace, gas stove, etc.) A fireplace An attached garage (New) Heated air that comes from a fuel-burning appliance outside the home (e.g., an appliance in a utility shed). 1.If any of the above apply a CO alarm is required: Near sleeping areas (New) on every storey of a unit, even storeys without a sleeping area 2. (New) In Public Corridors: CO alarms are required in public corridors if the corridor is heated by air from a fuelburning appliance. 3. Service Rooms: CO alarms are required in service rooms with fuel-burning appliances.

2026 Municipal Election Voting Period (electronically by telephone or internet) Friday, October 16th, 2026 at 10:00 am - Monday, October 26th, 2026 at 8:00 pm More information on the 2026 Municipal Election, including a list of candidates, can be found at arnprior.ca/election Elections in the Town of Arnprior Every four years, Arnprior residents vote to elect their municipal representatives for the next four-year term. The Council of the Town of Arnprior consists of seven (7) elected members who serve out a four-year term of office. The composition of Council includes a Mayor, a Deputy Mayor (formerly County Councillor), who also serves as a member of County Council, and five (5) Councillors who are elected at large. Each Member of Council elected this fall will serve out a term beginning on November 15th, 2026, and ending on November 14th, 2030. Why Voting Matters Local governments are often seen as the most important level of government that informs the services that most closely affect the everyday lives of their residents. Your elected representatives make decisions on your behalf every day on local issues ranging from planning and development to recreation programming and cultural heritage to property taxes and utility billing. Who May Vote You can vote in Arnprior’s municipal election if you are: • a Canadian citizen; and • at least 18 years old; and • a resident in the Town of Arnprior; or • a non-resident of the Town of Arnprior, but you or your spouse own or rent property in the Town; and • not prohibited from voting under any law You may only vote once in the Town of Arnprior municipal election regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the Town. How to Vote Eligible voters who are already on the Voter’s List will receive a Voter Identification Letter in the mail with their unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) that can be used to vote by telephone or internet during the voting period (Friday, October 16th, 2026 at 10:00 AM and Monday, October 26th, 2026 at 8:00 PM). Kirk Orthodontics Skate Park The Town’s newest recreation feature is an 8,512-squarefoot concrete skate park. This Skate Park has been built by the generous sponsorships, donations and hard work of this community and its youth. Location: 67 James Street This park is located adjacent to the Nick Smith Centre and provides access to parking, public washrooms, water and a place to cool off inside the centre. Hours: 7:00 am until dusk. Park use after dark is not permitted.
