EXPLORE WITH NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC-

Because How You See It Matters

For more than 20 years, the unique collaboration between National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions has defined modern expedition cruising, forging meaningful relationships between people and the planet through transformative travel experiences. Every voyage blends the legendary exploration spirit of National Geographic with Lindblad Expeditions’ unmatched 60 years of expedition heritage.

SMALL SHIPS THAT TAKE YOU FARTHER

With more than 20 expedition and charter vessels, the fleet is among the largest and most versatile in expedition cruising. Each small ship is specially designed to explore your destination—crafted for comfort, engineered for access and equipped to bring you up close to the remote and the remarkable.

TRAVEL WITH A WORLD-CLASS TEAM

Voyages are led by veteran captains, seasoned guides and National Geographic Experts,* with 110+ team members contributing a decade or more of fleet experience. Select departures also feature an onboard wine expert.

*Available on select departures.

TAKE GREAT PHOTOS WITH THE PROS

National Geographic photographers have spent decades traveling the globe, capturing some of the world’s most impactful images. They join select Mediterranean expeditions—and a National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions certified photo instructor accompanies every departure—to help travelers hone their camera skills in captivating places.

EXPLORE YOUR WAY, EVERY DAY

Itineraries feature a range of immersive activities that bring the pages of National Geographic magazine to life. All excursions are included unless otherwise noted, and each expedition offers options for every skill level so that you can explore your way—and at your own pace—every day.

LINDBLAD EXPEDITIONS

REVEALING UNDERSEA WONDERS

Undersea specialists bring marine wonders to the surface by capturing and sharing underwater footage.* During nightly Recaps, the specialist interprets fascinating sea creatures and geological features, offering insights integral to the story of your destination.

INCLUSIONS CURATED FOR EXCEPTIONAL VALUE

From engaging talks and most excursions to meals, onboard amenities, airport transfers, Wi-Fi and much more—the fleet’s inclusions encompass a full expedition experience.

PIONEERING RESPONSIBLE EXPLORATION

The ships in the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions fleet are designed to operate efficiently in some of the planet’s most remote regions, leveraging nimble design and carefully planned itineraries to reduce environmental impact. Thoughtful choices on board—from eliminating guest-facing single-use plastics to reducing food waste and sourcing locally grown ingredients—help minimize the fleet’s footprint while strengthening the communities it visits.

AROUND THE WORLD THROUGH WINE

“Great wine is about more than just pleasant taste—it is inextricably linked to the history of a place. In short, it’s a remarkable way to travel the world in a glass,” says Ray Isle, Executive Wine Editor at Food & Wine magazine. Isle was instrumental in launching the unique collaboration between National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions and Food & Wine, curating the wine lists for voyages through the Pacific Northwest. With the success of those inaugural sailings, he recently helped expand the collaboration to the Mediterranean. Here, Isle explains why a destination’s culinary delights—and especially its wines—provide a fascinating lens for exploration.

“What can a glass of wine tell you about a destination? It can tell you about agriculture and cultural history. It can tell you what the climate was like the year the grapes were harvested. It can reflect the remarkable characters involved in the wine business.

“When I curated the wine list for the Pacific Northwest voyages, I tried to get across the notion that wine from a place is grounded in the geology and cultural history of that place—and I used the same approach in the Mediterranean.

“Many of the world’s great historic wines come from Mediterranean coastlines, and there are a lot of bases to cover. The region’s warm weather reflects in all the

wines—but as you travel from one stop to the next, the elements change. I tried to pick bottles that give a quick snapshot of each destination on your itinerary.

“Experiences bearing the Food & Wine name give people a deeper understanding of the culinary world, and National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions is known for exploring what makes a place truly special. Excursions for these voyages were designed with an epicurean focus—for instance, having lunch in a Sicilian castle or going oystering in Dubrovnik and eating the oysters that you pull out of the water yourself. They invite you to learn something new about your destination, and they exemplify why this collaboration is the perfect pairing.”

A CELEBRATORY RETURN TO STORIED SHORES

Last year the National Geographic Orion returned to the Mediterranean for the first time since 2017, offering fresh perspectives on one of the world’s most storied regions. These images, captured by our expert photographers, highlight memorable moments from our first season back—our inaugural departures in collaboration with Food & Wine—spanning hidden harbors, ancient pathways and culinary traditions shared with local communities.

THE ART OF SAILING

One of the great joys of traveling aboard a traditional tall ship is witnessing the theater of her spirited crew as they raise and lower the sails by hand en route to your next destination. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or have seen the process dozens of times, it’s always a thrill to watch acrobatic sailors climb the rigging, loosen the heavy cloth and haul the lines in from the deck—performing a grand choreography that never ceases to mesmerize. On Sea Cloud II, nothing happens at the push of a button—often, almost a full hour passes before all the sails can catch the wind.
