As the season’s shift and daylight stretches longer into the evening, our homes naturally call out for a refresh. Spring and summer 2026 invite us to rethink our interiors with a lighter touch, embracing colour, texture, and a stronger connection to nature. Whether you’re updating a single room or reimagining your entire space, this season is all about balance: blending fresh trends with timeless elements to create a home that feels both current and personal.

S TART WITH A T H o UGHTFU l R ESET

Before diving into new purchases, take time to assess your home with a critical eye. A roomby-room audit helps identify what still works and what feels tired or impractical. Consider where you spend most of your time and where small changes could make the biggest impact. Sometimes, improving lighting or rethinking layout can be more transformative than a full redesign.

Rather than chasing individual trends, define how you want your home to feel this season. Think in terms of atmosphere, lighter, calmer, more playful, or more connected to the outdoors. Creating a simple moodboard, whether digital or physical, can help anchor your ideas. Include colours, materials, furniture shapes, and styling details to guide your decisions and maintain cohesion.

If a full overhaul isn’t realistic, take a phased approach. Start with quick wins like textiles and accessories, then build toward larger investments such as furniture or structural upgrades. This allows your space to evolve naturally while keeping costs manageable. At Jennifer Suzanne Interiors we always ask your budget firstly as we aim to spend what you feel comfortable spending.

T HE Colo URS o F S U mm ER 2026

This season’s palette is rooted in nature but elevated with expressive twists. Teal leads the way as a rich, calming tone that works beautifully on feature walls or upholstered pieces. Alongside it, earthy shades, I love olive greens, ochres, muted blues, and deep plums, bring depth without overwhelming a space.

Softer tones also play a key role. Think butter yellow, pistachio green, and gentle coral optimistic hues that reflect the warmth of the season. meanwhile, mellow reds with subtle lilac undertones add sophistication without the intensity of brighter shades.

For a balanced look, aim for a mix of neutrals, main colours, and a single accent. If you’re feeling bold, colour drenching painting walls,

ceilings, and woodwork in one shade, creates an immersive, contemporary effect. For a subtler update, introduce colour through cushions, ceramics, or smaller painted pieces.

N ATURA l mATERIA l S TA k E C ENTRE S TAGE

Texture is just as important as colour this season. Interiors are becoming more tactile, with an emphasis on natural fibres and handcrafted finishes. linen, cotton, jute, and bamboo bring softness and authenticity, while materials like stone and reclaimed wood add grounding elements.

There’s also a growing appreciation for imperfection. Hand-thrown ceramics, woven textiles, and artisanal pieces introduce character and tell a story. layering these

Our Home

textures, combining smooth surfaces with rougher, organic ones creates depth and warmth. I saw lots of these amazing pieces at london design week and so excited to start introducing these textured tactile fabrics into my 2026 projects.

Don’t overlook unexpected surfaces. Rugs are becoming statement pieces in their own right, while ceilings and lighting are increasingly used as design features. A sculptural pendant or textured ceiling detail can completely transform how a room feels.

Fl E x IB l E lI v ING, S CU l PTURA l S T yl E

Furniture in 2026 leans toward bold, sculptural forms that double as functional pieces. Oversized sofas and curved armchairs create inviting focal points, while modular designs offer flexibility for modern living. As homes continue to serve multiple purposes, adaptability is key, think extendable tables, storage-integrated seating, and layouts that

shift throughout the day.

lighting plays a central role in this flexibility. layering ambient, task, and accent lighting allows a room to transition from day to night. Statement fixtures draw the eye upward, helping spaces feel larger and more open.

B RINGING THE oUTD oo RS I N

Biophilic design remains a defining influence this season. Incorporating plants, natural light, and organic shapes helps create calming, restorative environments. large leafy plants make an impact, while smaller pots can be grouped on shelves or tables for a softer effect. Sustainability also underpins many design choices. Reclaimed materials, locally sourced items, and long-lasting pieces contribute to a more mindful approach to decorating. Beyond aesthetics, there’s a growing focus on wellbeing, spaces designed for rest, reflection, and balance, whether that’s a cosy reading corner or a simple indoor garden.

A To UCH o F mAx I m A l IS m

While natural simplicity dominates, there’s also room for personality. Pattern and colour are being used more confidently, with geometric prints, abstract designs, and retro influences making a return. The key is curation rather than clutter choosing pieces that feel meaningful rather than purely decorative.

Statement walls, whether through wallpaper, paint, or texture, offer a way to experiment without overwhelming a space. Hallways, dining rooms, or smaller areas are perfect for bolder choices, balanced by calmer tones elsewhere. At Jennifer Suzanne Interiors I work with a curated network of luxury wallpaper brands, giving clients access to exclusive and design-forward collections.

Room- By-Room I NSPIRATI o N

In the living room, anchor the space with a strong colour or statement seating, then layer in texture through rugs, cushions, and natural

materials. Add greenery and varied lighting to create a welcoming, adaptable environment. Bedrooms benefit from a softer approach. Start with neutral tones and introduce a single accent colour through textiles or accessories. Natural fabrics and gentle lighting help maintain a restful atmosphere.

In kitchens and dining areas, a simple repaint perhaps in a fresh green or soft blue can revitalise cabinetry or an island. Pair this with artisanal ceramics and patterned linens for added character.

Bathrooms can take on a spa-like quality with muted greens, natural stone finishes, and humidity-loving plants. layered lighting enhances the sense of calm.

Outdoors, treat your garden or balcony as an extension of your home. Use natural materials, comfortable textiles, and soft lighting to create a space that’s equally suited to relaxation and entertaining.

J ENNIFER S U z ANNE I NTERI o RS

While trends offer inspiration, the most successful interiors are those that feel personal and enduring. I help clients invest in pieces that will stand the test of time wellmade furniture, quality materials, and items with a story. I love to mix vintage finds with contemporary designs to create a layered, lived-in look.

Above all, let your home reflect how you live. Spring and summer 2026 are not about perfection, but about creating spaces that feel

authentic, flexible, and connected to nature, to craftsmanship, and to yourself.

Our Food & Drink

dockWorkS evolUtion

Dockworks is the evolution of the much-loved Waterfront Dining Club - originally created by Digbeth Dining Club, the award-winning street food operators known for championing the very best independent traders across the UK.

Building on that legacy, Dockworks is now a permanent waterfront destination, open from Thursday to Sunday, bringing together street food, drinks, and events all in one place. At its core are six rotating street food traders, changing weekly to showcase a diverse mix of cuisines. From comfort food favourites to bold global flavours, every visit offers something different- giving people a reason to keep coming back.

The venue is centred around one main space designed for grabbing a bite, with a laid-back, welcoming feel. It’s all about easy diningwhether you’re popping in midweek or settling in for a full weekend session, it’s built to be casual, social, and full of atmosphere.

That same space transforms throughout the week to host both family-friendly moments

and a packed programme of events. Expect everything from retro games and relaxed daytime vibes to comedy nights, quizzes, live music, and special takeovers. It’s a flexible setup that works just as well for families during the day as it does for lively evenings.

There’s also outdoor seating to make the most of the waterfront setting, adding another layer to the experience when the weather plays ball.

Behind the bar, you’ll find a wide range of drinks- from local favourites to international options, plus a strong selection of nonalcoholic and soft drinks so there’s something for everyone.

Dockworks keeps everything people loved about Waterfront Dining Club, but evolves it into something bigger, more dynamic, and built for the long term.

UnderStanding tHe caUSeS of Hearing loSS

Hearing loss can affect anyone, at any age, and for a multitude of reasons. At our family run clinics Hear in Hagley, Hear in Wombourne and Hear in Rubery we believe that understanding the causes of hearing loss is the first step towards effective management a better quality of listening life. While some causes are unavoidable, many can be mitigated with proper care and awareness.

AGE-REl ATED HEARING loSS (PRESByCUSIS)

This is the most common cause of hearing loss, affecting millions worldwide. As we age, the delicate structures within our inner ear naturally deteriorate, leading to a gradual decline in hearing sensitivity. Typically, highfrequency sounds are the first to be affected. These are responsible for clarity so often things will be loud enough but not clear so we often blame others for mumbling or speaking too quickly when in fact it's our ears that are the issue and not them!

NoISE-INDUCED HEARING loSS

Exposure to loud noises, whether from machinery, concerts, or even everyday activities like using power tools, can damage the hair cells in the inner ear. This type of hearing loss is often preventable by wearing appropriate hearing protection.

EARWAx BUIlDUP

While earwax is a natural protective substance, excessive buildup can block the ear canal and impair hearing. Please avoid using cotton buds or other objects to remove earwax, as this can push it further in. Our clinics offer safe, professional and effective wax removal services.

EAR INFECTIoNS

Ear infections can cause temporary hearing loss

and, if left untreated, may lead to permanent damage. Children are particularly susceptible to ear infections.

oToToxIC mEDICATIoNS

Certain medications, including some antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs, and aspirin, can damage the inner ear and cause hearing loss. Always discuss potential side effects with your doctor.

FAmIly HISToRy

In some cases, hearing loss is inherited. Genetic factors can contribute to various types of hearing loss, including congenital hearing loss (present at birth).

THE ImPoRTANCE oF PRoFESSIoNAl AUDIoloGy ASSESSmENT

If you're experiencing hearing difficulties, it's essential to seek professional help. At one of our clinics. Our experienced audiologists can conduct a comprehensive hearing assessment to determine the cause and extent of your hearing loss. We'll then work with you to develop a treatment plan, which may include hearing aids, assistive listening devices, or other interventions.

Understanding the causes of hearing loss empowers you to take proactive steps to protect or improve your hearing. you can play a significant role in your hearing health. Don't hesitate to contact us at Hear In Hagley and Wombourne for expert advice and support.

Being a single foster carer is a strength in the way I care for a child. It allows me to be fully present and focused, noticing the small, everyday moments that build trust—being consistent, keeping routines steady, and staying calm when things feel difficult. I understand that children who have experienced uncertainty or broken trust may test boundaries or push adults away at first. I don’t take this personally; I know trust grows slowly through patience, clear communication, and following through.

Caring has always been a natural part of who I am. I’ve always been the person who notices when someone is struggling and quietly steps in to help. Through my own life experiences, I have learned that what truly makes a difference is not big gestures but steady kindness— being reliable, listening well, and creating a calm, predictable home. When I learned more about the experiences of children in care, I felt strongly that I wanted to offer them that stability, understanding, and consistency.

Day to day, I like a structured but warm household where children know what to expect. I prioritise routines—regular meals, consistent bedtimes, school attendance—and I understand that even simple things can feel overwhelming for a child new to the home. I go gently and build routines at their pace, helping them feel included rather than controlled. Being single also allows me to be flexible around appointments, school needs, contact arrangements, and professional meetings. I recognise that children in care often carry worry, grief, anger, or confusion, and these feelings may show through behaviour. I take a trauma-informed approach: staying calm, offering space when needed, and focusing on

de-escalation and reassurance. I want children to know they are never “too much”.

I value working as part of a professional team around the child. I am comfortable communicating with social workers, schools, and health professionals, keeping accurate records, attending training, and asking for guidance. I also know how important identity and family connections are, and I would support contact sensitively, helping a child prepare and process the emotions that come with it.

I understand that fostering can be challenging, especially as a single carer. I manage stress through routine, reflection, and seeking support early. I have, or plan to have, a strong personal network and will use supervision and respite appropriately.

Overall, my motivation to foster is to offer stability, patience, safety, and kindness—a home where a child can rebuild trust, feel valued, and grow in confidence and hope for their future.

Writing this has allowed me to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional support received from Abacus, they genuinely feel like my second family. Unwavering encouragement and thoughtful guidance make a huge difference to navigate challenges with confidence and ease. Support they offer truly makes a difference to how you feel and that you belong helping both my personal and professional growth. Thank you all for always being such a supportive, caring, and dedicated team. I feel incredibly fortunate being part of such a warm inspiring community. mental ill HealtH SeaSonal blUeS

As a counsellor, I see a pattern in the problems clients present to me, throughout the year, that could almost be looked at as being seasonal.

It’s not quite as black and white as people suffering from depression in the winter months, anxiety in the spring, couples’ issues in the summer and teenager problems in the autumn, but there does appear to be trends associated with seasons.

For example, the new school year in September and the following few months, particularly for 14 to 18 year olds, seems to bring a larger concentration of stress and anxiety related conditions.

Christmas particularly and just after, family and relationship concerns.

April, and we see a trend forming around depression illnesses (this also coincides with the highest numbers in a month, for suicide)*

Seeing a counsellor doesn't hold the stigma it used to, thankfully. When I was growing up, if someone saw a counsellor, it was a sign of weakness, particularly if you were a man and while there is still a stigma attached to seeking mental health help, it’s much less that it was.

Thankfully, we have seen a change in that way of thinking as generations come and go, meaning that for some, in fact, probably for most, counselling is now seen as a form of selfdevelopment, and in many social settings, it's encouraged. As our next generation hits the

workforce, even more will see counselling as a social norm.

That being said, the importance of counselling should not ever be underestimated. While it’s becoming increasingly socially acceptable to seek personal help that shouldn’t lessen the impact of counselling or make conditions that counselling or therapy treat, any less important.

The differing array of symptoms and conditions require different methods of counselling. These methods used are more down to the individual needs of the patient rather than the condition they present with. Some patients might respond better to CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) others, SFT (Solution Focused Therapy) or Humanistic Counselling.

HoWdy y'all! Welcome to dallaS , texaS , tHe USa’S lone Star State.

Dallas, America’s ninth most populace city simply pulsates with affluence. With towering, shiny skyscrapers, art galleries and museums galore, there is much to explore. It’s a city of Stetsons, cowboy boots and the more ‘bling’ the better.

I opted to stay at the Warwick melrose Hotel, located on Oak lawn Avenue in the ‘mighty fine’ neighbourhood of Turtle Creek and Highland Park amid the vibrant cultural centre. This grand property, which was recognised as a historic landmark in 1983, dates back to 1924 and perfectly reflects the elegant architectural flourishes of the roaring twenties.

Following a swift check-in, my luggage was whisked away and I was escorted to a deluxe suite measuring 800 sq. ft. Featuring a king size bed, swathed in crisp, white linens, plush carpeting and with a separate lounge, furnished with a glittering crystal chandelier, a comfy sofa and chairs, and a dining area, I was at home in a flash.

After an ultra comfortable snooze I made my way down to the ground floor and hearing the gentle, soothing notes of the very impressive vocalist and pianist, Erik Barnes, I selected a plump seat in the sophisticated jazz-ageinspired library bar and ordered a delicious Negroni on ice, which was served in a jiffy.

The library, selected by Playboy magazine as one of the best ‘seduction spots for America’s best bars’, is clearly a very popular venue as is the hotel’s restaurant, the landmark Prime Rib, which offers the ultimate in steakhouse luxury in a truly glamorous setting. I ordered the most succulent 8oz Dallas Cut USDA prime rib, which is cut table-side with much aplomb, and accompanied by a bottle of Napa Cellar’s merlot, it was an unforgettable dining experience.

Following a deep slumber and a rejuvenating early morning shower I made my way to the ground floor to take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool. After a few leisurely laps and a quick change of clothing I returned to the hotel’s landmark Restaurant for a lavish breakfast. I ordered the first class Eggs Benedict with a piping hot coffee and for a ‘gal’ who loves to be pampered and preened I hurried along to le Spa, the hotels’ in-house sanctuary. I selected the glow petite facial, which was simply sublime, the tranquil touch massage, which more than lived up to its name by alleviating my traveller’s muscle aches and tension and then the rejuvenating manicure and pedicure completed my programme. I hurried to my suite, selected my favourite cocktail dress and feeling like a million dollars, I headed out.

For my last evening in the great city of Dallas I visited the spectacular Reunion Tower; affectionately known as ‘The Ball’, due to its geodesic sphere design. Soaring 561 feet into the sky, the tower features a GeO –Deck, which is the impressive observation platform where visitors are amply rewarded with thrilling panoramic views over the city.

Also within the tower, the prestigious Crown Block restaurant offers an impressive menu of steaks and seafood. Recognised by michelin in 2024 and again in 2025, this circular restaurant is a very popular spot and reservations are essential. I was most fortunate to be seated next to an enormous window and noted the hush that descended over my fellow diners as we collectively witnessed the most spectacular sunset. I ordered the lobster bisque, followed by the most succulent Fillet mignon. And as I sipped on my glass of Remy martin vSOP I held my glass aloft with a toast to the great city of Dallas. With my best effort of a warm Texan drawl I announced ‘I’ll be back to see y’all again, ya hear’!

spring socials

With spring just around the corner, the season of socialising is well and truly underway—and Nick and Royston have certainly been making the most of it. From glamorous celebrations to exclusive events, the past few months have been nothing short of eventful.

Let’s hear what they have been up to…

Royston marked his birthday in true style at one of Yorkshire’s poshest hotels, Grantley Hall. Recently featured on Channel 5, the five-star luxury estate remains a firm favourite. The programme offered viewers a glimpse into the grandeur of the property, its dedicated team and its distinguished guests - among them, Nick and Royston, who appeared in the second episode featuring their Halesowen party last year.

Joining the celebrations were close friends Joanne and Malcolm Bridgwood, along with Julie and Roy Millard. The group indulged in the hotel’s many offerings, including its award-winning spa, creating a weekend filled with elegance, relaxation and lasting memories.

ROYSTON’S BIRTHDAY BASH

AMITIÉ VIP BRUNCH IN BIRMINGHAM

SEEMA’S FAREWELL PARTY

Filming the 20th series of The Real Housewives of Cheshire (RHOC) has kept the pair busy. This series features a happy and emotional farewell celebration for Seema, who is relocating overseas. The party was held at the stunning Peckforton Castle in Tarporley and the event brought together the cast to mark the end of an era.

After a decade of shared highs and lows, Seema’s departure was met with heartfelt goodbyes - particularly from Nick and Royston who will miss her dearly. Here’s hoping for a reunion in the near future.

LAUREN SIMON’S BEACHWEAR LAUNCH

Rounding off the season’s highlights, Nick and Royston joined Lauren Simon and fellow cast members of RHOC in North Wales to celebrate the launch of her new beachwear collection. The event, set to feature in the upcoming series, offered guests an exclusive first look at designs created with real women and real body shapes in mind.

For many years, pensions have been a cornerstone of effective estate planning. Unlike most other assets, pension funds have typically sat outside of an individual’s estate for inheritance tax (IHT) purposes, allowing wealth to pass between generations in a highly tax-efficient way.

However, this long-standing advantage is set to change. From 6 April 2027, most unused pension funds and death benefits will be brought into the scope of IHT. This represents a significant shift and means that pension wealth—previously outside the estate— could now be subject to tax at up to 40%, depending on the value of the estate and available allowances.

While transfers to a surviving spouse or civil partner are expected to remain exempt, the position becomes more complex when wealth passes to the next generation. In particular, where death occurs after age 75, there is the potential for what is effectively double taxation. The pension fund may first be subject to IHT as part of the estate, and then beneficiaries could also pay income tax on withdrawals at their marginal rate.

This is a notable departure from the current regime, where pensions have often been used as a vehicle for intergenerational planning. many individuals have deliberately preserved pension funds while drawing on other assets in retirement, with the intention of passing pension wealth on tax-efficiently

Going forward, this strategy may need to be revisited. For some, it may be more appropriate to draw on pension funds earlier, while others may wish to explore alternative planning opportunities to mitigate the overall tax burden.

With these reforms on the horizon, now is an ideal time to review existing arrangements. What has historically been one of the most tax-efficient planning tools may no longer offer the same advantages, making proactive advice and careful planning more important than ever.

cUpra terramar

The Cupra Terramar is a very stylish SUv that is based on the same floor pan as the v.W. Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq and this gives an indication of the collaboration of all models in the vast vAG armoury, writes Bob Hickman

Although it shares many mechanical parts it is a stand-alone model, with wonderful external styling. The Cupra Terramar is a very nice sporty vehicle, and so it should be, the intention with the Cupra brand was to break away from Seat and produce a sporty derivative in most sectors.

The front of the vehicle makes a statement with the triangular shaped lED daytime lights. The 19-inch alloy wheels are stylish in their design, the rear of the vehicle with its wrap around lED light system gives the vehicle a purposeful looking stance.

The interior was a welcoming friend, especially to those with loyalty to vAG products. my test car arrived the same day as a Skoda Superb was taken away, the cross over from one

to the other was incredibly smooth. A very similar driver layout with most controls on the steering wheel, the gear selector was on the steering wheel stalk, the wipers and indicators shared the same stalk, all fittings in common with the Skoda. From a driver’s perspective it was a delight not to constantly keep looking at the large infotainment screen to change settings. Inside, the seats are very sculpted and supportive with huge amounts of electrical adjustments to get comfortable.

All the instrumentation was clear and easy to read; the windscreen heads-up display is a bonus. I was intrigued that when the lights were switched on a linear red lED swept all around the front of the car from door to door, especially useful was the amber lighting on both front doors when another vehicle was in your blind spot.

Wireless smartphone charging is included as standard and joins Apple car play and Android Auto for very easy connection.

Front-seat passengers in the Cupra Terramar won’t find too much to complain about. The seats are a highlight, they’re nice and supportive without being too narrow or restrictive, drivers won’t slide about in the corners while those more generously proportioned won’t feel hemmed in. There’s also lots of adjustment in the seat and steering column.

The sliding rear seat allows you juggle either leg room or more boot space, the amount of boot space was in my opinion more than adequate for most people’s needs.

There are a multitude of engine derivatives, including hybrids, the test car had a 1.5 litre petrol, it produced 150 P.S. sufficient to enable a 0-62 in 9.3 seconds and a top speed of 127mph, the co2 was 137 g/km.

The driving dynamics were really good, I have to admit I had been looking forward to this car test for some time, I was not disappointed, you get a sporty feeling behind the wheel. Quick

steering, firm suspension, excellent brakes and power in plenty make the Terramar a pleasure to drive down a twisty road, where it was in its element, I didn’t get to do any motorway driving so cannot comment on that aspect. Surprisingly for a sporty derivative all Cupra Terramar have an automatic gearbox, so driving in town is nice and easy.

All models get plenty of kit - full lED lights, sports seats, tinted windows and a 12.9-inch touchscreen display with wireless smartphone connectivity, in addition a full suite of safety equipment is incorporated. my v2 trim, added a 360-degree camera and 19-inch alloys plus a head-up display.

Cupra Terramar gets a five year or 90,000 miles warranty.

The Cupra Terramar as tested had a retail price of £41655, however the test car had a towing device fitted and in addition a spare wheel was included making an on the road price of £42,705.
