Pastel colours like sage, mint, rose, and sky blue recently added to their collections, which add a soothing and organic effect to interiors. These hues also fit into larger colour trends in the industry such as Colours of the Year.

I was recently invited to visit a beautiful brand new tile showroom called Domus Group in central Birmingham which has inspired me to write about tiles and tile trends combing the latest designs that are available to suit your home style.

Moody blue tones create a luxurious and expensive feel to any room.

Earthy tones that can be found in nature, including amber, brick, emerald, and aquamarine hues, are popular palettes for tiles

Wood effect tiles are becoming more popular recently and the appeal of zero maintenance. 8

Our Home Terrazzo Terrazzo is a multi-faceted and highly robust material consisting of marble, granite, or recycled flecks encased in cement. It looks modern and traditional at the same time, making it applicable in almost any design specification. Terrazzo is a popular choice for stairs, kitchen worktops, splash backs, and bathroom vanity units.

Concrete Unique 3D wall tiles handmade from specially formulated, fibre reinforced concrete that is smooth to the touch. Hard wearing, highly durable and available in a wide range of designs and colours that are produced to order.

As natural wood floors need care and attention to keep maintained a wood effect tile is a simple alternative and are very lifelike. The image of the wood is printed onto the tile and each tile has a multitude of different prints, so that there’s a good variance like it would be with a natural wooden floor.

Tile Patterns and Shapes trends 3D tiles If your looking to create an impact into a small area such as a recessed shelf a 3D tile can work great in this type of space. The Punto tile range at Domus is a perfect example of how to use 3D tiles as a back splash in a kitchen or creating interest in a bathroom shower area by introducing a 3D tile.

Natural Stone Beautiful and timeless, natural stone detail, unique markings, patterns and textures, stone tiles offer natural strength and durability.

Porcelain tiles A high-performance, durable surface design material that is non-porous, frost-proof and stain-resistant. Suitable for both walls and floors, porcelain tiles are available in a wide variety of designs, styles, sizes and shapes and are easy to maintain.

Ceramic High quality glazed ceramics in muted and vivid colour palettes, and textured contemporary designs that include dramatic surface patterns, shapes or natural stone effects. Ideal for wall use, light duty floors, wet areas, pool and spa projects. 9

Our Home Tile layouts Chevron The chevron pattern provides a symmetrical zigzag pattern. Despite this modern look this look dates back to art deco period often brick roads where laid in chevron pattern.

Herringbone Herringbone is great pattern layout for making a space appear bigger.

Basketweave This classic pattern is made up on rectangles and squares to create a woven basket effect.

Octagon Dot Is another classic layout often seen on floor using Victorian style tile. This pattern is versatile for kitchen and commonly seen in monochrome.

Moroccan Moroccan-styled tiles bring feelings of warmth and relaxation as their rich hues and exotic patterns. Warm, earthy tones with an aged, weathered appearance.

Geometric check A twist on the classic monochrome flooring, for a contemporary design choose geometric designs in black and white.

Stacked tile placement To create a contemporary designer subway tile design, choose slim rectangle tiles and lay them vertically and half way change the direction to horizontally to create a horizon effects. 10

I love this page, its full of all the primary colours that are available this season. How gorgeous is the feather basket from Zara! Boden always create lovely prints, but I think the Summer collection is especially nice, bold floral prints on fabulous shaped dresses & swimwear, the gingham bikini is from Cupshe, I have bought swimwear last year & just recently from Cupshe & loved all of it. 25

There is a lot of pink this Summer, whether its blush shades or sugary, its very easy to wear, I have chosen the swimsuit & crochet dress by Cupshe as I bought these items for my holiday & loved them! Candidiasis Different types of bacteria and fungi live and grow on your skin. Most of them aren't dangerous. Your body requires the majority of them to carry out normal functions. However, some can cause infections when they begin to multiply uncontrollably.

Capillaritis Capillaritis sounds a little severe, but it's a harmless skin condition known as pigmented purpura. However, it can be quite distressing as it can be obvious and usually on the lower legs.

The Candidiasis Fungi is one of these potentially harmful organisms. When an overgrowth of Candida develops on the skin, an infection can occur.

What does capillaritis look like?

What does it look like

Capillaritis starts as tiny red and brown dots that may join together to form a flat brownred area and slowly fade with time.

Candidiasis of the skin often causes a red, itchy rash to form, most commonly in the folds of the skin. This rash may also spread to other areas of the body. While the symptoms are often bothersome, they can usually be treated with improved hygiene and antifungal creams or powders.

Capillaritis can affect anyone but is uncommon in children. It usually affects otherwise healthy people. Occasionally capillaritis starts as a reaction to a medication. Prescribed drugs have been associated with capillaritis, including meprobamate, carbamazepine and carbromal.

How is it caused Overuse of antibiotics can be a trigger and poor skin hygiene, such as cleaning and drying your skin correctly after sports, especially in the folds of your skin, between your toes, armpits, and groin area.

No medical intervention is of consistent benefit for treating the pigmented purpuric dermatoses. Pruritus may be alleviated by the use of topical corticosteroids and antihistamines. Prolonged standing should be avoided if you have this condition.

Cafe-au-lait macules (CALMs) These are common pigmented lesions found in the general population. They can be described as well-circumscribed, pigmented macules or patches ranging from light to dark brown.

If you feel you have this condition, it's always best to get it checked by your GP as occasionally, it can be associated with other conditions. Don't be alarmed; go and have a check-up.

Their size may range from a few millimetres to several centimetres and may appear at birth or in early life. CALMs are primarily benign and can be removed by laser therapy for cosmetic purposes.

It is often difficult to distinguish between anomalies on the skin, and we will often worry about something that isn't a concern.

Our Health In my experience, patients visiting the clinic are often alarmed the most by red spots/ bumps and visible red vein clusters.

The appearance of multiple spider angiomas signals chronic liver disease in about 95% of all patients. It's important that you contact your GP if you have a sudden occurrence of multiple spider angiomas.

Cherry angiomas These small, red bumps on your skin that are harmless to your overall health. They are an overgrowth of blood vessels. Angiomas commonly appear after the age of 30. The most common areas are the trunk and back; they are often hereditary.

Red Moles Moles come in many different colours, and red moles are not uncommon. However, like any mole if it changes in size, shape, or colour, it always a cause for concern and should be looked at by your GP or dermatologist.

You can have them removed with Cryo treatment if you don't like how they look. A cherry angioma won't go away on its own, but it's also unlikely to cause you any problems. It may bleed from time to time if it's irritated.

We have caught up with Wolverhampton`s celebrity Hairdressers Nick & Royston on what they have been up to over the last few months.

What has been your summer highlights? Nick -` It has been great having brides back in the salon. Weddings are such a happy time for families and for so many brides have had to wait for months or even years for their Big Day. We have enjoyed three of our team getting married this year and that has been a real highlight for us all.` Royston - `Another special day for us was the wedding of the Countess of Newport at Weston Park. It was a fabulous day, the bride looked stunning, and Lady Bradford was great fun as always. It was a pleasure to be part of their celebrations.`

Holidays - anywhere glamorous? Nick - ` We have wanted to visit Jersey for a few years now, so when our dear friend Nicki invited us to spend a few days with her it seemed the perfect time. We joined her on her boat and cruised over to France for lunch and then joined her friends for dinner back at her exquisite home.` Royston - The women of Jersey are incredibly glamorous, and it was fabulous meeting some of the `Real Housewives of Jersey` and Jacquie Butlins- Billy Butlins daughter, who shared some exceptional stories with us. We loved it! Although, our clothes were much tighter after the show, but well worth it.`

TWICE BAKED SPANAKOPITA Serves 6-8

•

Butter half of the packet of filo sheets individually and lay on top of each other in the dish.

•

Put the spinach and 3 eggs into the large mixing bowl with a pinch of smoked Maldon sea salt and then crumble the feta in.

•

Grate some of the nutmeg into the mix with a twist or 3 of black pepper. Squeeze the mix together.

•

Press the mix down on top of the buttered filo layers and finish buttering the rest of the filo laying it on top of the spinach mix.

•

Bake for 40 minutes at 160oC and then allow to cool before chilling over night in the fridge.

•

When you are ready to eat take the filo pie out of the dish and cut into 8

Ingredients: 1 packet of filo pastry 1 packet of feta cheese 1 packet of salted butter 1 packet of washed spinach stalks removed 1 nutmeg 1 box of Smoked maldon sea salt 1 box of golden yolk eggs Parchment paper

Equipment: 1 baking dish about 30cm x 20cm 1 pastry brush (silicone if possible) 1 large and 1 small mixing bowl 1 small milk pan to melt butter Large chopping board Black pepper mill

METHOD: •

Grease and line the baking dish with some of the butter

Bake at 180oC for about 12 - 16 minutes or until nicely browned and crispy

•

Lay the filo out flat on your board and brush the first sheet then place it in the dish

•

Serve with a tomato and herb salad dressed with olive oil and apple cider vinegar

Vegan Black forest Brownie Serves 6-8

minutes

Ingredients: 2 tbsp ground flaxseed 200g dark chocolate, roughly chopped 250ml filter or instant coffee 80g vegan margarine, plus extra for greasing 125g self-raising flour 70g ground almonds 50g cocoa powder ¼ tsp baking powder 250g golden caster sugar 1½ tsp vanilla extract Oat cream cheese Cherry jam Fresh cherries Icing sugar

In a saucepan, melt 120g chocolate, the coffee and margarine with 60ml water on a low heat. Allow to cool slightly.

•

Put the flour, almonds, cocoa, baking powder and ¼ tsp salt in a bowl and stir to remove any lumps. Using a hand whisk, mix the sugar into the melted chocolate mixture, and beat well until smooth and glossy, ensuring all the sugar is well dissolved. Stir in the flaxseed mixture, vanilla extract and remaining chocolate, then the flour mixture. Spoon into the prepared tin.

Bake for 35 mins until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean with moist crumbs. Allow to cool in the tin

Slice your brownie in half and then equally into rectangles. Carefully fold half a jar of cherry jam into a tub of oat cream cheese. Spoon onto brownies, add fresh stoned cherries and dust with icing sugar.

METHOD: •

Heat oven to 150C fan oven. Grease and line a 20cm square tin with baking parchment. Combine the flaxseed with 120ml of water and set aside for 20

The city of Utrecht, a true Dutch gem by Rebecca Underwood, Travel Journalist

Utrecht, located in the heart of the Netherlands beside the flowing waters of the river Rhine, offers visitors an intriguing glimpse into a vibrant culture and a rich and colourful history.

The city, which was founded on a Roman Fort in 47 CE, features a charming medieval old town, meandering canals, museums galore, and an extensive selection of trendy bars, buzzing cafés and restaurants. Utrecht has been the Netherland’s religious centre since the 8th century and today it is the see of the Archbishop of Utrecht, the country’s most senior Roman Catholic leader. The city’s skyline is dominated by the Domtoren bell tower, located opposite the imposing Gothic Cathedral of Saint Martin on Domplein Square; it is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands, soaring 368 feet into the sky. Construction began in 1321 when the tower was to form part of a new cathedral, which, due to lack of funding, was not completed, and the tower remained free standing. Energetic souls who negotiate the 465 steps leading up to the top of the tower will be richly rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the city.

For a more relaxing excursion and one which allowed me to fully appreciate the beauty of Utrecht, I made my way to Oudegracht, I found the embarkation point for the hour long canal cruise. The curved canal follows the main branch of the Rhine and on each side of the river there are a number of warehouses, which date back to the 13th century. If you prefer to captain your own vessel you can rent a ‘canal bike’, which is a pedal boat that seats four passengers and if the weather is unreliable a hood, which fits over the boat, is supplied. To view more of Utrecht’s treasures, I headed for Lange Nieuwstraat, the location of the Museum Catharijne Convent, where I discovered a spectacular collection of medieval religious art. Housed in a former monastery, which was built in the 16th century, it is another exceptional example of Gothic architecture. Exhibits include unique pieces of art dating from the early medieval era right up to the 21st century. Visitors will gain a deep insight into Christian art, the cultural history of the Netherlands, and its significant impact on Dutch society. I feasted my eyes on intricately

The Centraal Museum, Utrecht’s main museum, was founded in 1838. I headed for the exhibition ‘The World of Utrecht’, which focuses on the story of the city through works of art, created locally by resident artists past and present. The extensive collection is divided into sixteen themes and is spread out over two floors and includes old and modern art, applied arts, city history, fashions and period costumes. Historic Brockencote Hall Hotel in near Kidderminster, part of the Eden Hotel Collection, invested £350,000 in refurbishing and redesigning its original 19th century Gate House. Families, bridal parties or friends who stay at Brockencote Lodge – a luxury three-bedroom split-level property for six - can now order from a range of ‘Lockdown-style takeaway’ menus prepared by chefs in the four-star hotel’s award-winning 3AA Rosette restaurant. Chefs have created two breakfast hampers, foodie tray bakes, sharing boards and sweet treats which will be awaiting them in the kitchen fridge on arrival or delivered to their door in a classic Jaguar. Stourbridge shines in County Golf events Midlands League match, previous Stourbridge captain Lee Evans produced an outstanding display to win both of his matches.

Stourbridge Golf Club and its members had a few weeks to remember! Its involvement within the county golf scene has been more prominent than ever.

In the Boulton Salver, which was played outside Stourbridge Golf Club, two members and brothers won convincingly. Alfie & George Cook, making their first play at Moseley Golf Club, dominated the competition over 36 holes and took home the elite trophy.

In the world of golf, county-level events are very prestigious. The standard of performance required at these competitions is of a different caliber. So to have been working alongside the county so frequently in all aspects is a fantastic achievement for Stourbridge.

Combining the level of golf played by its members and standard of course hospitality provided; Stourbridge Golf Club will be one to consider visiting over the summer. We have several open competitions available to participate in and for all golfers! These include our Mixed Am/Am, the men’s & ladies opens and our biggest event of the year: The Pro/ Am! There is also availability for membership in all categories and a fantastic community atmosphere waiting for you. There will never be a better time to join!

The events kicked off with Stourbridge playing host to multiple Worcestershire and Herefordshire Ladies County Championships. The Vets Championship, County Championship qualifiers and the championship knockouts. All three events were well supported and were enjoyed by all involved. Stourbridge Rugby club Luctonians, three Bristol teams namely Old Redcliffians, Dings Crusaders and Clifton, Barnstaple, Weston-Super-Mare Hornets, Exeter University and Redruth.

Here we are in the cricket season when you would expect that life is dormant here at Stourton Park. Not so, since we have not long finished our May weekend extravaganza of our Corporate Lunch and May Ball and are well ahead with plans and organisation for May 12th and 13th 2023. This year’s guest speakers were John Inverdale, Simon Lazenby and Philip Tufnell and they entertained over 100 businesses and their guests. We are grateful for the support shown by all these businesses and from the feedback it appears that we will need more tables next year.

There will be two pre-season games during August and as soon as these are finalised details will be published on the club website and Facebook pages. During the summer contact sport continues as the Black Country Vipers, the local American Football side continue their training and matches here. Subaru XV e-Boxer mean a terrain that you would never dream of normally using. I mean the slippery tow path, perhaps a field that is a little bit wet when you are towing the caravan or a horse box, or even entrance to a car boot sale where the terrain is slippery. Of course let us not forget when winter comes and the snow and ice are down, the XV will be your very best of friends.

If you are in the marketplace for an SUV with guaranteed off-road capabilities then you really do need to look at the Subaru brand. They have been around now for more years than I care to remember, back in the late 70’s early 80’s they were a revelation. They would literally go anywhere and they were a shock to the Land Rover owners fraternity that could not believe its capable to do what Subaru did.

The interior was based on practicality rather than being an executive saloon, but it is quite tidy, I really did like the leather seating in my derivative test car and the orange stitching really did set it off. The connectivity from the 8’ touchscreen for the infotainment system is very user friendly. The usual smart phone connectivity takes you in to Subaru’s own Starling system and this contains information concerning weather and traffic points. Obviously this is adaptable for apple and android auto devices.

The XV is a worthy contender in to the SUV marketplace with excellent credibility for driving off-road writes Bob Hickman. One advantage of driving an SUV’s is that you sit quite high and upright within the vehicle. There aren’t any particular aspect of driving that were problematic, even on city centre confines the vehicle was an able companion and we weren’t too concerned with awkward blind spots that might make navigation somewhat difficult. Even out on the twisty country roads the XV always felt secure and a reassuring companion. Where the XV really does come in to its own is if you venture off-load and by that I don’t necessarily

Our Motoring One disappointing aspect was the amount of boot space. Only 340litres of space, primarily because my test derivative had the hybrid system and this did occupy quite a large amount of the boot space.

Performance was at all times more than sufficient for most people’s needs, the hybrid system would allow the vehicle to drive up to 25mph on battery power only and after that speed the engine kicks in.

The power for the XV is a 1995cc petrol engine, this is assisted by an electric motor. The advantage of Subaru’s system is that the engine is constantly charging the battery and the electric motor will actually propel the vehicle on its own.

The CO2 figure is a little on the high side at 180g/km, and Subaru are suggesting a figure of a 35.7mpg on the combined cycle, however in my time with the vehicle in a complete difference of terrain from motorway and Yorkshire hills and dales, the computer suggested that we had achieved 42mpg, which I found to be very acceptable.

The level of equipment is on the high side, it has keyless entry, full LED headlight systems, privacy glass, 18” alloy wheels, in addition there is a reversing camera and safety features abound in comparison to most vehicles nowadays. The XV is a very secure vehicle, it has full collision braking control, cruise control and I do like headlights that move their beam whilst cornering or at junctions, a clever little feature.

The test car was the top specification SE Premium e-Boxer Lineartronic, and this came with an on the road price of £33,680. It comes with a 3-years or 60,000 miles warranty and Subaru are confident enough to give you an 8-year warranty on the battery pack.

Here are my top tips for taking control of your finances:

6. Protect your loved ones – Life insurance is generally inexpensive and gives you and your family peace of mind that liabilities are going to be met. Critical illness cover pays out money on diagnosis of one of a list of serious illness, money that can be used to repay a mortgage, fund needed private medical treatment, or just tide you over during recuperation.

1. Above all, have a plan – it’s the old adage: if you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll probably end up somewhere else. 2. Don’t do it yourself. It is very difficult to be objective about your own circumstances, particularly when it comes to failures or shortcomings.

7. Put it in trust – if you do take out life insurance cover, consider putting it in trust. Failure to do this could mean a long delay before the money is paid out, disputes about who gets the money, and an Inheritance Tax liability – all at a time when money is needed quickly and with the minimum of additional aggravation.

3. If you’re going to save, start early – the magic of compound interest means that the first contribution is the most valuable. Depending on growth rates, if you start a savings plan at age 20 and stop contributing at age 35, you will have more money at 60 than someone who starts at age 35 and contributes double from 35 to 60.

8. Make a will – less than half of the UK population make a will. Even in the simplest of circumstances, having a will reduces the time and the cost needed to deal with an estate.

4. Take advantage of available tax reliefs – examples are ISAs which grow free of personal taxation, and pensions, which also grow free of personal tax, but also qualify for tax relief on the contributions.

9. Review your planning – you wouldn’t think of driving 100 miles without checking if you were on course, so why would you treat your financial planning like this?

5. Clear off expensive debt before saving – you will almost certainly not get as much interest after tax from a bank account as you will be paying on your debt.
