Dropouts Anonymous “Young, dumb, broke high school kids” carrying no job or a source of income. Attendance at school is almost nonexistent, grades are dropping like flies, but none of that ever crosses their mind. Every day and every night, they’re with friends, who all carry themselves in a similar way. Seeing them constantly missing school and waking up hours after the sun has rose, you wonder about how their parents feel or if they even care enough to feel anything at all. Getting IHOP at 9:30 in the morning, instead of arriving to second period, punching the arcade games at the mall, instead of punching numbers in a calculator, and spraying graffiti on the walls under the city’s bridge, instead of sketching in drawing class. Time passes by and it’s the same routine, ditching school, picking up friends, heading towards wherever the road decided to take them. Without a realization of falling behind in school and not walking the stage with the pride of accomplishment, they eventually make their own path that carries a heavy burden.

The Marks on My Wall Gracie Scaggs Senior
As I space out in my house I start to notice things I didn’t before a harsh black mark on the wall, water damage on the ceiling, paint missing as I go up the stairs presumably scraped off when moving furniture. It’s funny when buying a house how much you don’t really see before it was ours I never noticed all the cuts and bruises this house has endured.
