Join us for a 5-week course using Paula Gooder’s book Lentwise: Spiritual Essentials for Real Life.

“Lentwise is a five-session course which helps us to deal with the rigors of real life. Using fresh insights from John's gospel, it explores: direction, nourishment, wisdom, refreshment, and security.”

Pilgrim Course: Turning to Christ

Would you like to explore being baptised or confirmed this Easter? Or just simply have the opportunity to reflect on your faith through the six questions asked at baptism, then join us on Tuesday afternoons through Lent, in the Wickham Room, as we work through the Pilgrim Course: Turning to Christ.

In a time of global strain and uncertainty, questions of meaning and human flourishing press in with renewed urgency. This lecture in the Chapter House explores how a theology of wellbeing and the practice of spiritual intelligence deepen and illuminate the Church’s inherited faith tradition.

The Revd Dr Gillian Straine is an Anglican priest, author, coach, and CEO of GoHealth. She holds a PhD in Physics and an MA in Theology. Her work sits at the intersection of theology, health, faith, and science.

After Hours provides a quiet and reflective service, enjoying the special atmosphere of evening in the Cathedral. This month we worship in the style of Taizé, with short repeated chants, readings and silence. We will also hear from our young adults about their pilgrimage to Taizé last summer.

The Mindful Mile

Join us on the second Tuesday of each month as we take a moment out of a busy day to reconnect with the outdoors as we complete three laps of the Cathedral. Our leaders are there to set a gentle pace, and to share a topic of interest. Afterwards you are welcome to join us for a hot drink. Meet at the West Front of the Cathedral at 12.30pm.

Mothering SundaySung Eucharist

On Mothering Sunday we celebrate those who have nurtured and nourished us in our physical and spiritual lives. This can be our mothers, significant women in our lives, our local church community, or all three! The Cathedral also celebrates its role as the Mother Church of the diocese.

As always, our Sunday School will be running during this service. Each week we look at a Bible story, and enjoy fun crafts and activities to bring the bible stories to life. There’s no need to book, please just come along!

St John Passion

Experience the dramatic and emotional power of JS Bach’s mighty choral retelling of the last hours of Jesus’ life, in the intimate surroundings of St Hugh’s Choir, at the heart of Lincoln Cathedral. Performed in a concert setting by Lincoln Cathedral Choir in collaboration with the Byrd Consort.

Peregrine Exhibition

A peregrine falcon photography exhibition will be held in the Chapter House from 23–29 March 2026. Featuring work by local wildlife photographers, the display explores the relationship between Lincoln Cathedral and the peregrine falcons that nest and raise their young here. The exhibition coincides with the launch of Tales From The Towers, a book documenting the cathedral peregrines. This exhibition is included in your Cathedral admission.

Annunciation of the

Blessed Virgin MarySung Eucharist

The Annunciation celebrates the visit of the Angel Gabriel to Mary to announce that she was to be the mother of Jesus. It is now nine months until Christmas! It is an important day at the Cathedral as it is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent (the season of preparation for Easter). On this day many Christians receive the sign of the cross in ash on their foreheads to show they are sorry for the times when they have made poor choices and to remind them of their faith in Jesus Christ

Holy Week

SUN 29 MAR - PALM SUNDAY

Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday.

10.30AM - Palm Procession from the Castle, reading of the Passion and Sung Eucharist

The congregation gathers at Lincoln Castle to commemorate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem at the beginning of Holy Week. We then walk to the front of the cathedral where the account of Jesus’ final days is read. Afterwards we enter the cathedral for the Sung Eucharist.

6PM - Stainer’s Crucifixion sung by the Cathedral Consort

A devotional performance of John Stainer’s Holy Week cantata. Free entry, no tickets needed.

7.30PM - Address and Compline

Compline is the ancient service of Night Prayer, sung at the end of the day. In Holy Week most of the service is sung by the adults of the cathedral choir.

A diocesan celebration with the blessing of oils and renewal of ordination vows.

Tenebrae is a service of readings and music where candles are gradually extinguished. It reaches its climax with a loud noise in the darkness which signals the end of the service.

THU 2 APR - MAUNDY THURSDAY

7.30PM - Sung Eucharist with Foot Washing, Stripping of the Altar and Watch

On Maundy Thursday Christians remember the Great Commandment that we love God and one another. This is expressed by one of the priests washing the feet of some members of the congregation and celebrating the Eucharist to recall Jesus’ last meal with his disciples. At the end of the service some of the bread from the Eucharist is taken to another part of the cathedral and people may stay with it until midnight to remember the disciples watching with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. The cathedral is also stripped of many of the items used in worship to remind us that in the end the disciples ran away.

FRI 3 APR - GOOD FRIDAY

9.30AM - Liturgy for Good Friday

This service has three distinct elements - the story of Jesus' final hours and his death is sung by the choir, there is an opportunity to honour the cross and then to receive Holy Communion.

12 NOON - The Seven Last Words

The Dean of Lincoln, the Very Revd Dr Simon Jones, will lead the threehour devotion on Good Friday, at which meditations on Christ’s seven last words from the Cross will be interspersed with movements from JS Bach’s ‘cello suites, performed by Jane Finch. The service will take place in St Hugh’s Choir, and those wishing to attend are welcome to enter and leave as they wish during the course of the three hours.

SAT 4 APR - HOLY SATURDAY

8PM - Easter Vigil, Baptism & Confirmation and First Eucharist of Easter

The congregation gathers in the darkness to welcome the Light of Christ symbolised in the Easter Fire and Candle. As we celebrate our Easter faith people are baptised and confirmed by the Bishop.

Easter opening times

Good Friday is a solemn day when we remember Jesus' death and God's love for us. The Cathedral is open to visitors (there is no admission charge), but we ask that you are respectful of the sombre nature of this day whilst visiting. There will be a number of spaces set aside to pray and light candles. Everyone is welcome to any of our services in St Hugh's Choir.

An event by Overheard Network. Join us for a unique musical experience. In the Dark is a ground breaking, immersive show that takes place with live performers in total darkness. No interruptions, no phones, no input other than live music, performed around, amongst and through you by a secret group of 30 musicians. Wearing a sleep mask, you’ll be surrounded by live, complex, euphoric music, engaging your brain in a way you will never have experienced before. It’s the antithesis of AI, richer than gong baths, more intimate than distant stadium gigs. Nothing to see. Everything to hear.

London Concertante, Seven Sins of Tango

Featuring two champion tango dancers accompanied by a 12-piece ensemble from the world-renowned London Concertante, this show is straight from Argentina, merging the smouldering music of Astor Piazzolla and his contemporaries with electrifying choreography and virtuosic musicianship, revealing tango in its most authentic yet sophisticated form.

Be a Chorister for a Day

This fun event gives young singers a taste of what it is like to be a chorister at Lincoln Cathedral. It is aimed at children of 6 to 12 years old. During the afternoon you’ll get a free singing lesson with one of the cathedral’s specialists, a tour of the Cathedral, afternoon tea and the opportunity to sing with the cathedral choir at the end of the day during Evensong.

Creative Reactions Exhibition

Creative Reactions is part of the Pint of Science festival; researchers are paired with artists to inspire creative responses to current research topics. The artworks offer an engaging way to explore science, culture, and society through creativity. This exhibition is in the South Transept and is included in your Cathedral admission.

Poetry, Prose & Passion Tour

From Geoffrey Chaucer to Lewis Carroll, this literary tour of the Cathedral takes us on a journey of almost 1000 years in the company of some our greatest poets, playwrights and novelists.

Tower Tour

Climb more than 300 steps to reach the top of the Central Tower of Lincoln Cathedral and take in the fantastic 360 degree views of the city, county and beyond. On the way up our guides will share much of the history of the Cathedral and you will be able to see the clock mechanism and bells which ring the quarter hour every day.

Roof Tour

If you love architecture, this tour is for you! We’ll give you an insight into the workmanship required to build and maintain this stunning building. You’ll also get up close to our stained glass windows, visit one of our bell chambers and there is an opportunity to enjoy views down the full length of the nave and across the city from the Cathedral’s West Front.
