Welcome to Limestone Limestone College wa established in 1845 by Dr. Thomas Curtis and his son, Dr. William Curtis, di tinguished cholar born and educated in England. Limestone was the first women college in South Carolina and one of the first in the United States. In the late 1960' s Limestone became fully coeducational. Today Limestone is a blend ofthe very old and the very new. The 1998-99 school year brought new faces among the faculty and student body. We entered a new athletic conference and worked hard to become re-accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As for the old, both Dixie Lodge and the swimming pool In Timken gymnasium were renovated.

LIF'E at Limestone College during the 1998-99 school year would prove to be different from past years. There were many new faces to learn a Limestone entered the new school year. The new academic year started on August 21 when the 193 freshman and transfers were allowed to move on campus. All other students could return starting August 24, increasing the number of full-time students attending the day program to approximately 440. The majority of students attending Limestone come from South Carolina and other Eastern Seaboard states. Among the new faculty are Catherine Emanuel and Warren Rochelle (English), Lynn Frederick (Social Work), Doug Hulsey (Computer Science), and Duane Lundy (Psychology). There were two new majors offered this year: Computer SciencelInternet Management and Sports Management. There were two new concentrations which are Studio Arts/Graphic Arts and Physical EducationlFitness and Wellness. As a new minor, Limestone now offers International Studies. Also, new this year is the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference (CV AC). Limestone and Anderson joined as new members early in 1998, making the fall of 1998 our first year of competition in a conference. In previous years, we competed as an independent college within the NAIA and NCAA. Other members of the CV AC include Barton, Belmont Abbey ,Coker, Erskine, Lees-McRae, Longwood, Mount Olive, Pfeiffer, Queens, and St. Andrews. Since 1928 Limestone has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Every 10 years Limestone must be re-accredited to award baccalaureate and associate degrees. The 1998-99 school year brought the return of SACS.

B etwee

classes, committee work and other administrative

tasks the Limestone faculty, students and staff found time to complete a detailed self study to reach our goal of re-accreditation. Limestone is a campus of historic buildings, many of which have been, or are in the process of being renovated. Throughout the past year Limestone worked hard to complete a $1.3 million transformation of the historic Dixie Lodge building. This renovation brought the relocation of the student center, mail center, bookstore, career services, health office, campus ministry, and the Ca1ciid office. The swimming pool was also modernized and plans were made to start a women's swimming team beginning fall of 1999. All this hard work comes from the Limestone farnil y so that the students may have as much fun between

SUMMERS as they do during the summer.

THE RESULTS ARE IN: Recent survey reports Dr. Robert Hynes to be the "Mac Daddy of Teaching. "

All the way from Hofstra University in New York, Dr.Hynes makes his home in historic South Carolina. His work and dedication at Limestone College have truly been a blessing to both students and faculty. Dr. Hynes' warm personality and smiling face puts everyone III a good mood, whether it be in the classroom or just passing him on campus. Dr. Hynes attended college at Rutgers University inNew Jersey for his undergraduate degree and went on to Hofstra University to receive his Ph.D. While attending Hofstra University, he recei ved the H. Alan Robinson Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in 1996. Dr. Hynes is a member of the American Psychological Association, holds the chair at the college for the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences and is Limestone's director of the Sib Collins counseling center. Dr. Hynes is involved with the school as well as the community, doing radio appearances in both Gaffney and Spartanburg, being the Public Address announcer for Limestone Basketball, and receiving the Lax Backer ofthe year award from the Women's Lacrosse Team. While at Limestone College, he received the Fullerton Merit A ward for Teaching, for which only a few teachers are selected. Both faculty and students enjoy Dr. Hynes, and we hope that he will be with us for many years to come. Sure, I can help! Dr. Hynes is talking on the telephone and assisting students with their needs.

Dr. Hynes looks very intellectual when he wears his glasses.

Many students participated in the the mid-term madness events. Dr. Hynes comes to enjoy the fes tival and is surprised at the turnout.

I'm eating! Dr. Hynes was caught by surprise while squeezing in a bite to eat.

Dr. Hynes counsels many students at Limestone for different reasons and turns his sign around on his door when he does not want to be disturbed.

We're not just whistling Dixie.

· Will be a nice ad dition to Lime stone and a place to s ocialize ", said Reb e k a h Littlejohn, refering to the new student center.

As the new century approaches, Dixie Lodge is taking on a new look to serve new functions for a new generation of Limestone students. The walls will remain. The memories will linger. History will be preserved. And tomorrow's students will add their chapters to the legecy of this grand old building that was completed in 1912. When the 1.3 million-dollar renovatIOn project is complete in January, 1999, Dixie Lodge will house the new Robert A. Dobson, Jr. and Dorothy Leonard Dobson Student Center. For the first time since Limestone was founded in 1845, the College will enjoy the full services of a modern student center. Students will buy their books, Limestone souvenirs and school supplies there; use the mail centerto keep in touch with family and friends; enjoy snacks, games and activities; and work together on student government and student publications. They will be able to seek the advice and counseling of professionals in student services, including staff members in counseling, the infirmary, campus ministry and career services. -Limestone Today, Spring 1998.

Sunday meals weren't the only activity to take place in Dixie Lodge. At one time this building was the home to many Limestone students.

Limestone Trustee Robert A. Dobson III provided major funding for the building and enabled the College to receive a gift from the estate of his brother-in-law, Jim Davidson. The F ullerton Foundation committed $250,000 and alumni and former Limestone Trustee, Jo Ann Miller and her husband, Haro ld, provided $100,000 . Another $100,000 was allocated by the Board of T rustees from the million-dollar gift from Vivian Elledge Ball (class of 1940).

It was the senior class of 191 I who

inspired the naming of this grand old building. They wanted the building to bear the name Lee Davis Lodge. President Lodge did not support the students' recommendation. However, Former President H.P. Griffith is quoted in Dr. McMillan's book, A History of Limestone College, as stating, "We can get around that. A building is a lodge, and our president is so devoted to the South that we'll call it Dix ie Lodge."

Chris Phenicie Di rector of Admissions and Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

To The Students of Limestone College: I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for filling my days with fun and laughter. Many of you I consider family, others as close friends; either way, always remember I wish you nothing but the best in obtaining your goals, especially those goals involving your education. When telling others about the students at Limestone College, I often catch myself referring to them as a big family. As we all know, a family member is very special, and each and every one of you is special in your own unique way. Please never forget that we will always be around to help you in any way possible. Limestone College has always been a blessing to me, and I hope it can be the same for you. Thank You, Coach Phen

Let's get Virtna Limestone College's Virtual Campus

J. Douglas Hulsey Assistant Professor. Computer SCIence Director. Virtual Campus

The Virtual Campus is designed to offer courses to students without the requirement to attend traditional college classes. The courses are designed to fit to the students' schedules. Virtual Campus courses are six weeks long. This year there will be eleven Internet courses available via the Virtual Campus. Additional courses in other subjects are coming soon. If the student is out of town, work may be completed from any location in the world that has Internet access. Courses are designed to teach students real world techniques. The software that is taught is the same software that companies and organi::ations use on their Internet sites. This past August, Limestone College formalized the Internet courses

into an Internet Afanagement Degree. Limestone is one of the first college to oifer a 4-year Internet A1anagement degree. The Internet A1anagement degree is designed for Webmasters. A Webmaster is the person li'ho manages the Internet for companies and organi:ations. For those students that don't desire the Internet .i'vfanagement degree, but still want to take Internet courses, Limestone is developing a certificate program. The Internet courses are housed at WWlV. virtual professor. com. Course schedules, course descriptions, and the Internet Management degree requirements are also available at th is locatioll.

Musical Theatre Returns To dramaJ;;j1E.~e§!e9rre College

The musical The Fantasticks during the fall semester. The Fantasticks is the longest running musical in American theatre history. For those who missed it, the story is a tale of a boy, a girl, and the good and bad experiences of growing up. The play carries its audience on a fast- paced journey of memorable songs, lovable characters, heroic and silly adventures, and enchanted make believe. This upside-down Romeo and Juliet story appeals to audiences of all ages. The production featured a talented cast of Limestone students and actors from the Gaffney and Spartanburg communities.

For most students entering college for the first time stirs up many emotions and brings about changes. Some freshmen are excited about leaving home and living on their own . For others, leaving home stirs up a common feeling of homesickness. Yet some may feel a bit of the two; they miss the comforts of home but are excited about experiencing a new sense of freedom. Being a freshman away from home also brings about change and a period of transition. For some of us this is the first time away from home. As a result, we have to learn how to make up our bed , clean our room, live with a roommate, go to class and do our schoolwork without being told. We learn which profesors are interesting and which are not so interesting. Life as a freshman isn't all that bad. We are away from home with the freedom to do as we please. We have all the freedom of an adult with the responsibilities of a teenager.

Last Years at the Rock. Life as a senior... During the senior year of college many emotions begin to set in. Excitement, nervousness, and a sense of reality are probably the most common emotions experienced. Most of these emotions stem from the fact that this is, after all , our last year. Thus we are excited and nervous about the last year and with what lies around the corner. Our eyes are opened knowing that unless we go on to graduate school, life in "the real world" is just around the corner. Our minds ponder where we may be a year from now. Less of our time is centered around having fun and more attention is given to our future . While we still have fun, we must also plan for the future. Many of us must balance our time between friends, academics, extracurricular activities, and planning our future. Socially we occasionally stay up the majority of the night hanging out and having a good time with our friends . Many events contribute to maintaining our social lives. We may go to one more lacrosse party, make a few more late night trips to Ozzie's, spend a few more nights at Baker Street, Applebee's and Sagebrush, or go clubbing .

Brigid. Maricie. Amy. Stephanie. Sy. Andrea. Jem. Keith. Tim. Teresa, and Kevin . This group of seniors shO\\ that It is possible to last four years at Limestone. The majority of us also participate in extra-curricular activities. We participate in athletics either as athletes or athletic trainers , serve on committees , and are members of the Student Government Association Kappa Delta Kappa , Delta Chi Sigma, The Rock, and Singing Saints. Others also serve as resident assistants. For those who participate In two sports, the feeling of playing in the last home game of one's career is experienced twice . Unless we are fortunate and go on to play professionally, this is the last year we will be involved In athletics as an athlete. Therefore much of our efforts are centered around being the best athlete we can in our final year of competition. We also attempt to be the best leaders possible both on and off the playing field. It was an exciting year to be involved in athletics because this was our first year in a conference . Those who are not members of an athletic program spend their time in meetings, attempting to leave a positive mark on Limestone by making it better in their area .

For some seniors, their last semester is not spent in the classroom but in a controlled environment relating to their profession Some may student teach while others work some type of internship . Time management becomes key because time has to be juggled between the job at hand and extra-curricular activities. Before we realize it, graduation will be upon us and off we must go.

Life in a small town with great hang-outs Charlotte, North Carolina (approximately 30-40 minutes away) is an exciting city with tall buildings, bright lights and late night bars, but Limestone students choose to stay right here in the small town of Gaffney. Almost every night of the week, you can find college students at Baker Street Bar and Grill , Sagebrush Steakhouse and Saloon, Applebee's Bar and Grill, or Ozzies Truck Stop (Open 24 hours, 7 days a week). Limestone College students continue hanging out in Gaffney in spite of some of South Carolina's blue laws, "which do not allow for sale of alcohol on Sunday and only distribute liquor by mini-bottles". Many of the older Limestone students confess that Gaffney kind of "grows on you ." The small town keeps bri nging college students back year after year. Although students have a busy schedule consisting of classes, sports, and extracurricular activities, these restaurants employ college students . Whether it be work or play, these restaurants occupy the Limestone College students time during their LIFE

BETWEENSUMMERS!

Nick Breslin , Casey Wilcox, and Tim Busher enjoy a night out together at Baker Street. Limestone College Students enjoyed seeing famous football star Jim Kelley this same night.

Applebee's is a great place to eat. Employees at this restaurant boast about how Limestone students are great "tippers."

Friday nights at Baker Street Karaoke is held from 10pm until 2am. Limestone students enjoy singing and dancing until the morning hours.

Sagebrush Steakhouse is always populated with Limestone students. Fortunately, the resturant is only about five minutes away from Campus.

Josh Dawson and Issac Deschaine enjoy Monday night football at Baker Street.

No matter what time of the night it is, Limestone students will be dining at Ozzie's. The employees of this famous truck stop know the students by name due to their presence at all hours.

"The Rock"

Baptist Student Union The Rock is another name for the Baptist Student Union. This year Bryan McConnell and Dr. Kubias oversaw the group. The group usually meets every Tuesday night for a time of fellowship . Activities that take place include praying, studying the Bible, singing, and playing games. Occasionally the group will travel to Spartanburg to meet with students from other schools. When time allows, the members of the Rock will grab a bite to eat at the Beacon and go cosmic bowling. Nothing better to eat than a greasy cheesburger and world famous ice tea before one goes bowling! Together with each other and with Christ, members realize they can get through the challenges of being students at Limestone.

Always there to lend a helping hand ...

SIFE After Limestone won the regional championship held in Charlotte, NC, in spring of 1998, Professor Bob Henderson starts up the program again. T he program is known as Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). The program helps the community and get busine s majors ready for the real world. The team is assigned projects and members earn hours by what they do. The more hours accumalated, the better the students grade will be. Thi year the team participated in Habitat for Humanity, a charity group for which volunteers donate their time and talent to build homes for those less fortunate. The team worked during the evening as well as class time to help with the costruction of a home for the poor. The team painted the interior, completed the exterior, constructed steps and railing, poured concrete, an d completed final touches to the home.

The SIFE team gave The Colciid staff a helping hand this year by selling business ads to different companies. The team sold over six hundred dollars in ads. The team also earned hours for the sale of ads. Dr. Paul LeFrancois invited Profe sor Bob Henderson and the SIFE team to participate in the con~truction of a trail leading from Cowpen Battleground to the Kings Mountain Battlefield. The team worked after school and on Saturday mornings. The team cleaned trash from the area, removed brush, built a bridge over a stream, and began preparing the path for survey. The SIFE team put in much hard work on the projects they particpated in this year. The team hopes to go to regionals, win first place, and maybe go to nationals to take home the blue ribbon also. The Sife Team member, are: from left to right: Larry Starks. Brent Starling, Tim Busher, Dylan Hooker, Dr. Paul, Roshien McClain, and Mr Henderson.

Limestone Athletics Looks Brighter with the Addition of the CVAC Conference. The 1998-99 athletic year is one to remember here at Limestone. Early in 1998 Limestone and Anderson were accepted into the CarolinasVirginia Athletic Conference (CVAC). There are 10 other chool in the conference. including Barton. Belmont Abbey. Coker, Erskine. LeesMcRae, Longwood. Mount Olive, Pfeiffer, Queens. and St. Andrews in Division II of the NCAA Sports at Limestone that are sponsored by the CV AC for the men include baseball. basketball, golf, tennis, and soccer. On the women's side. there is basketball, s occer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. Both Limestone and Anderson started their full CV AC regular season schedules in September 1998. Limestone will immediately vie for conference championships. CVAC has automatic qualification to the NCAA Division II tournament for its men's and women's basketball teams. Every conference sponsored sport has a CV AC tournament. The reg u lar season sees each team playing every member once in team sports with the exception of ba!>ketball. Men's and women's basketball will play an 18 game conference season. Limestone College Director of Athletic Development Dr. Ralph Pim said he was very pleased with the College's acceptance into the CV AC and believes the association will be advantageous for both Limestone and Anderson.

\ ~ ~

~~: , ~.

' Our athletic program will benefit by having the opportunity to compete against teams from chools similar In size and philosophy to Limestone," Pim said. "The conference will gain by the participation of our dedicated athlete and their pursuit of excellence both on and of the playing field. Association with the CV AC will also assist Limestone In developing its athletic program to its fullest potential. " Indeed improvements can be seen. The swimming pool in Timken is being renovated with the hope of adding a women's swim team in the fall of 1999. The lacrosse and softball fields were re-planted with grass and the soccer field was enlarged. New signs associated with the CV AC were placed on the walls of Timken Gymnasi um, new lights put up, and new shot clocks purchased and put in place. This truly is a year to remember in the history of Limestone athletics. Pic tured L to R: Dennis B loomer, Dr. Griffin, Dr. Alan Patterson, Commiss ioner of the CV AC , an d Ralph Pim.

Saints Shoot for the Stars. The 1998-'99 season brings head coach Larry Epperly and his assistant, Jermaine Scott, back in their second year here at limestone. Last year, the Saints finished the season with a record of 10-16. They ended the season on a positive note with four consecutive wins. This year the Saints look to improve on last year's record and make it to the CV AC tournament in February. In order for the Saints to be contenders in their first year in the conference, Coach Epperly recruited Michael Williamson, Jason Scott, Corey Nixon, and Kevin Dixon, all of whom are transfers. The only freshman on the team IS Bobby Styles, a 6'8" red shirt freshman. Key players returning from last year are seniors Brandon Scott and Mike Letter, junior John Fant, and sophomores Maurice Corry, Phillip Keith , Terrell Holmes, and James Cable. Combine the new faces with the old and the '98-'99 team should have plenty of experi-

The key to the success of this year's team will be keeping players healthy. They will also look to Styles to make an immediate impact. Fant and Styles look to be the leaders on the boards. Brandon Scott and Letter will have to provide leadership both on and off the floor. The speed and ball handling skills of Jason Scott are an added plus. As of Christmas break, the team is 2-4. Like the women's team , they too jump right into the heart of their conference schedule in January. In order for them to make it to the CV AC tournament, they will have to finish in the top eight. Go get 'em, Saints!!!

With 3:01 left in the first half, Mike Letter attempts to add 3 points, and it's all "gooood."

1998-'99 looks bright for Lady Saints The 1998-'99 season looks to be more promising than the past few years. "When you only win three games in a year, you've got nowhere to go but up." says Coach Dennis Bloomer, referring to last year's 3-24 record. Thi year there are 14 players. Eight of the 14 are returning from last year's squad. The Saints will tum to three of these players for points. Tiffany Huggins returns after averaging 14.2 points, Tashauna Loben with 9.3 and Amy Cawley with 9.0. Other key players include seniors Stephanie Lawson (4.7 ppg) and Jeni Whitman (64.3 % free throw), and sophmores Niesha Webb (6.7 ppg), Jessica Goins and Atari Leach. Top newcomers to the team are transfer student Tabitha Kephart and freshmen Felicia Hallums and Summer Blanton . Both Tabitha and Summer see the floor well and can shoot the much needed threepoint shots. The Saints will look to Hallums on the inside for points and rebounds, something the Saints lacked last year. Other

key players Include Jamie Bennett. Amanda Williams. and Shannon Cashour. With the addition of speed, court vision, inside force. and three pointer, improvements could already be een early in the eason. At Christma break, the team was 35. For the first time in five years, they won their home opener, against Converse. They then defeated Converse again before Thanksgiving, and defeated Montreat on our home floor after Thanksgiving. In January the Saints will be put to the test as they jump right into the heart of their CV AC schedule. They have games scheduled against Longwood, Lees-McRae, St. Andrews, Pfeiffer, and Barton. In order to be eligible for the CV AC tournament, they must finish in the top 8 out of 12 schools. This is a goal for the Lady Saints, and these games are key if they want to prove they have what it takes to be competitors.

Women's Lacrosse: a 1999 Preview As the 1999 spring season quickly approaches, the women's lacrosse team prepares for one of the toughest schedules in Division II. In fact, the Saints will face three of the top four teams in the nation last year, #2 Gannon University, #3 Albany University, and #4 Shippensburg University. Beyond that they will also compete against two Division I teams, Davidson College and Ohio University. "People will not hand out respect. You must prove yourself and earn that respect," said Michae l Scerbo, third year head coach as he ponders the schedu le he created. The Saints only graduated two seniors from last year's squad, so most people would expect their roster to be riddled with upperclassmen this spring, but that is not the case. More than half of the team are either freshmen or sophomores, Top Row: Tricia Davidson (asst coach), Eliza McCormack, Shannon Cashour, Becky Buppert, Jamie Bennet, Christ ina Gribbin, Michael Scerbo.

Middle: Stephanie Meyer, Cindy Watkins, Jody Kennedy, Keri Zimmerman, Megan Crouse, Steph de Bullet, Kathy Martens, Melissa Bullocks. Bottom: Brooke Hamilton, Crystal Ford, Dawn Smith , Gina Authement, Erin Zimmerman, Marcie Matthews, Angle Meyer. ot Pictured: Vicky Perkins

and again this year they only have two seniors on the roster. W ith this in mind, the Saints believe they have the best of both worl ds: they are young; and they have experience. These two traits could decide the outcome of the season. "Our greatest asset is our youth, but our greatest weakness is our youth. If our young players can learn to play at th is level quickly, we will be a very strong squad this season," said Scerbo. Returning for the Sai nts are five of the top six scorers fro m last year. Junior Megan Crouse will lead an attack that could feature two rookie starters. The attack also has returning senior Marcie Matthews, junior Erin Zimmerman, and sophomores Kathy Martens and Jody Kennedy. New to the attack are rookies Becky Buppert and Stephanie Meyer.

The midfield will be led by returning All-American, Dawn Smith. In her freshman season, Dawn led the team in interceptions and was tied for second in scoring. She wiII be joined by two fres hmen this year, Steph deBullet and Angie Meyer. The Saints will also count on a converted attacker, Gina Authement, to run the field. The defense will return a large core of players that held opponents to an average o f

10.2 goals per game. At the heart of that defense is one of the best goalie tandems in Division II, sen ior Cindy Watkins a nd sophomore Vicky Perkins. In front of them, two rookies, Crystal Fordand and Zanne Rhodes will join returnees Eliza McCormack, Christina Gribbin, Sha nnon Cashour, and Kerri Zimmerman. LET 'S T A K E ITT 0 THE FIELD.

In Memoriam James Ellis

While we often think of ourselves as individuals, each one of us also belongs to a larger community. When a community loses one of its members, the absence is felt by all. Limestone College lost two members of its community in 1998, James Ellis and Houston Patterson. James Ellis was in charge of the Department of Public Safety. He had worked at the College for many years. As people headed for classes or their offices during the day, James would often be out on the

Houston Patterson

campus saying hello and wishing people well. He never failed to have a friendl y or encouraging word for people . His absence will be felt for a long time. Houston Patterson was a freshman stUdent and member of the baseball team. He played left field and was number 16 on the team roster. His teammates and friends will remember him as someone who tried to do all he could with the time he had , who sought to enjoy life to its fullest. He was the only team member to

play in all 51 games in the 1998 season. The team is dedicating the 1999 season to Houston, anc will have a sign in left field with jersey number #16 as a tribute to him.

The End III

II ••• Just when you thought the yearbook had come to an end, we have added more. Spring sports sprouted victorious. Great job!! But wait.. . there's more ... Hom ecoming, Graduation, Academic and Athletic Awards-it's all here! Turn the page ... turn the page and lookfurther into LIFE BETWEEN SUMMERS!!! 145

Homecoming '99 This year1s homecoming was the festive highlight of the social season. The day began with an alumni game, then the men and women both took on Queens College from Charlotte. Even though both men and women gave it their all, they did not come out ahead on the scoreboard. However, spirits were still lifted as Keith Stevens and Stephanie deBuliet were crowned Homecoming King and Queen! !

Keith Steven and Stephanie deBullet stop for a photo after being crowned. Marcie, Kevin, and Andrea smile for a last homecoming photo before leaving Limestone. Micheal Letter pauses in prayer for his Andrea, and Keith and Teresa wait in nervous anticipation. Hoshimen Brown proved to all that one is never to old to jam one more home for two ... "it's dipsey-doo, kunkaroo!!'

ati ve Gaffney Jamie Vinesett goes to the line to shoot a leftanded free throw during the alumni game. could not keep the smile from his face; who could the always lovely women--Lindsey and Stephanie?

Adrienne Parks was a stunning example of sophomore beauty, wearing a white, a nkle length dress and escorted by Chris Campbell. Seniors Keith and Teresa were all smiles as they realized that this would be their last H omecoming.

147

SOFTBALL This year the Lad) Saints oftball team made their presence known in the CYAC finishing the eason 19-3 in conference pIa and 35-20 overall. Going into the CY AC tournament the Saints were ranked 2nd. The) had 6 people named All-Conference and t\ 0 All-Tournament. Beck) Kirkman set a ne\\ school record for home runs with 11, \\hich was also enough to rank 1st in homers in the CY AC. Kristin Briggs ranked near the top in stolen bases, with 36. The only do\\ n side to thi season is that Coach Jimmy Martin will be losing three seniors (Homey, Hatcher, and Hilliard). Horney and Hatcher's offensh.e skills and Hilliard's pitching w ill be hard to replace. I ext year, the Lad) Saints \\ant to top this season b) finishing 1st in the CYAC tournament and earning their \\ay back to the Regional Tournament.

CatcherTeresa Horney, senior, displays her ability to move and catch the pop-up as her parents look on .

Nicole (Nicki S.) eyes the ball over the plate for ball 1 . Good eye! "T hree up - three down" say the Lady Saint infielders. L-R : H. Noda, K. Sri ggs,M. Farlow, M. Silvers, T. Horney, M. Goodwin.

148

BASEBALL The spring season brought m any great plays to the field . The Limestone Saints Baseball team was ready for the new season and it showed in thei r performance on the fie ld. The Alma Mater Chorus

In South Carolina, Beneath the pine tree's cone, There stands my Alma Mater, My dear, my fair Limestone, 'Tis there my mem'ry lingers, And naught can quite compare, To the hours I spent at Limestone, At Limestone, dear and fair.

160

Oh Limestone, cherished Limestone, I love thy classic walls, Oh Limestone, fairest Limestone, I love thy sacred halls; Thy name I crown with honor, And I shall ever gi ve To thee a heart's devotion, As longas I shall live.
