The members who were there then are repeated on a screen are recalled on a scroll are moved in a miniature drama, are collected and recollected for actions, speeches, silences, set forth by images of the mind and made in a mingling mist to do again and to do over precisely what they did do oncethis is memory sometimes slurred and blurredthis is rememberingsometimes wrecking the images and proceeding again to reconstruct what happened and how, the many little involved answers to who? what? when? where? and more involved than any how? how?

We, the Senior Class, proudly dedicate the 1980 Calciid to Mr. Frederick H. Paschal, Associate Professor of Education and Psychology. He came to Limestone College in 1968 as Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, and has since served in many other capacities. Mr. Paschal is currently the Chairman, Division of Education, and D irector of Counseling and Placement Services. No words adequately express our appreciation for the guidance and encouragement with which you have supported us in our last four years at Limestone. You have shown us how to grow as a group of empathetic individuals, both inside and outside of the classroom. With your coffee cup in one hand and your pipe in the other, you have been available to us in whatever crisis. We thank you wholeheartedly for your invaluable friendship . You have given unselfishly of your time and effort to Limestone College. On the Senior Class grading scale, you, Mr. Paschal scores 100. Congratulations, and God bless you!

Miss Limestone 1979-1980 is Paula Patrice Abrams of Union, South Carolina. Patrice is a sophomore music and theatre arts major. Her hobbies include dancing, singing, playing the piano, modeling, playing tennis and reading . Patrice is also Miss Black America-Union and Miss Black America-South Carolina. She hopes to compete for the national M iss Black America crown in the summer. W hen asked how she felt being a local and state title holder, Patrice remarked, "All goals are attainable if one is hardworking and self-confident, but in pursuing these goals we must remember that on the way to the top, the work doesn't get easier, but the rewards get better. " Patrice has appeared in such drama productions as Amahl and the Night Visitors, The American Dream, and Ghosts.

Dr. William J. Briggs became President of Limestone College in September 1979. Before this appointment, Dr. Briggs served as director of development and alumni affairs. A native of Lincolnton, North Carolina, Dr. Briggs has been affiliated w ith several other educational institutions throughout the Carolinas. He and his w ife, the former Joyce Jenkins, have two children, Julie, a senior at Limestone, and Bill, a senior at Gaffney High School. Dr. Briggs is a dedicated promoter of the Christian way of life at Limestone College. We, the Calciid Staff, wish Dr. William Briggs the best in this and all future years at Limestone College.

Each year six students are honored as Hall of Fame members. Two students, one m ale and one female from the sophomore, junior, and senior classes are selected. Membership into the Hall of Fame is based upon character, leadership, service to the college, participation, versatility, and future potential. Hall of Fame Members for the 1979-80 year are as follows:

Paula Patrice Abrams, a sophomore music and theatre major from Union, S.C Patrice has been active at Limestone as freshman class secretary, cheerleader, Dorm Court Chairman, Senator, Chorus Vice President and Accompanist, Lantern reporter, Calciid member, and music majors' representative. She has also appeared in plays with the Limelight players, served as secretary of Les Trilles, and represented her class on May Court. Patrice is the reigning Miss Limestone College as well as the reigning Miss Black South Carolina. She is also an Honor Roll student.

David Mark Bomar is a sophomore English major from Spartanburg, S.C David currently serves as Calciid Editor and Lantern News Editor. He is a Dean's List student, and a member of the College Planning and Priority Council. H e served as treasurer of his freshman class, and he is Sophomore Class President. David is a member of the Candelabra Staff, O rientation Committee, Gospel Ensemble, and Publications Committee. He also serves as a Resident Assistant.

Sally Diane Bigelow, a junior from Columbia, S.C is majoring in Mathematics. Diane has been a member of the volleyball and softball teams for three years. She is treasurer of the Phi Kappa Theta Sorority, member of the Chi Beta Phi Fraternity, and Junior Class Senator. Diane served as SGA Secretary during her sophomore year. She was first runner-up in the Miss Limestone Pageant, and she has been a May Court representative for two consecutive years. Diane is an Orientation Committee member, and a Resident Assistant.

Bob Findley, a junior business administration major from Farmville, N.C Bob is Co-Captain of the basketball team. He is a Dean's List and Honor Roll student. He was named the Scholar Athlete for 1978-79. Bob received the MVP and Coaches Award for basketball in 1979 , and he was voted to the NAIA District 6 All-Academic Team. He is also a member of the Epsilon A lpha Alpha Fraternity.

Laura Ruth Truluck is a senior music major. She is from Gaffney, S.C Laura is President of Les Trilles, an academic music fraternity for women. She is also President of Music Educators National Conference. Laura is secretary-treasurer of Kalosophia Honor Society, and a Dean's List and Honor Roll Student. She has served in the Religious Life Committee, College Chorus, and was Miss Congeniality in the 1978-79 Miss Limestone Pageant.

Edward "Butch" Klopfer, from D ayton Ohio, is a business administration major . Butch is Captain of the Tennis Team, President and charter member of the Epsilon Alpha Alpha Fraternity, Kalosophia Honor Society member, Upper Court member, and Combined Council member. Butch served on the Rediscover America Program Committee, played drums for the Limestone College Jazz Trio, and was selected to the NAIA All-Academic Team .
