We, the Senior Class, proud ly dedicate the 1978 Calciidto Mrs. Emmie E. Rector, Professor of Health and Physical Education. She came to Limestone College in 1958 and has since been both an inspi ration and a guidepost to the college, its students, and the community. Words are hard to f ind to express our gratitude to such a woman . Duri ng the four years we have known her, she has touched ou r lives in a very special way. She has shown u s what sincere dedication, loyalty, and friendship mean . She has also shown us the true impo rtance o f adherence to our own principles and professionalism. This year the sophomore, junior, and senior classes each c hose two representatives who were worthy of special recognition . These students were chosen on the basis of character, leadership, participatio n, versatility, service to the college , and future potential. This is the Hall of Fame. Teresa Proctor served as Head Varsity Cheerleader, Junior Cl ass VicePresident, and a Food Committee member. She has been a mem ber of the Calciid Staff, Candelabra Staff, Limestone Chorus, and Wi nd Ense mble. She was selected as Second Runner-Up and M iss Congen iality in the Miss Limestone Pageant during her sophomore year. Teresa is also a member of the United Black Students. She is a junior from Gaffney, South Carolina, and is majoring in Music. A sophomore from Shelby, North Carolina , Dennis Pettis is presently serving as a Dorm Court Representative . He is a member of the Marshall Arts Club and the United Black Students. Dennis is majoring i n Physical Education. Roxie Caldwell is presently serving as Senior Class Secretary . She is a member of the Student Activities Board, Chi Beta Ph i, and has been selected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. She has served as senator her freshman and sophomore years . In her j unior year she was class treasurer, Student Government Association Treas urer, president of the Physical Education Majors Club , and a member of Combined Council. Roxie was May Court Attendant her freshman and se nior years. She has been a member of the Volleyball Team during her j unior year. Roxie is a senior from Roebuck, South Carolina, and is majoring in Physical Education . Gerald Hendrick is serving as an Assistant Resident D irector and as a member of Upper Court. He has been a member of the Tennis Tea m for the past two years. Gerald is a senior from Atlanta, Georgia, and is m ajoring in Biology. Doris Sartor, a sophomore from Spartanburg , South Carolina, served as Vice-President of her Freshman Class, and was a member of t he Student Activities Board. She is presently serving as Sophomore C lass VicePresident, Resident Assistant, Upper Court Representative, an d Secretary of the United Black Students. She is a member of the Social Board and Orientation Committee. Doris was selected as May Court Atte ndant her freshman and sophomore years. She is majoring in Psychology/ Guidance and Counseling. Jerald Hambright serves as Junior Class President. He is a mem ber of the Library Committee , Teacher Education Committee, and the Orientation Committee. Field day at Li mestone is a day offun and frolic, consisti ng of vario us indoor and outdoor events des igned for students, faculty, and administ ratio n . This year ' s f ield day was held on November 10, 1977. Some of the activities were th ree-Iegged race, t ug-of-war, sack race, tire relay, climb ing th e greased pole, pie eating contest, frisb ee toss, and a tricycle race. In the competition amo ng classes, the sophomores took first place, and were followed by the ju n iors, seni 0 rs, and then the freshmen. In enchancing t he joy of togetherness and p u re fu n, however, everyone was a win ner !
