UL Maths Enrichment Programme
Congratulations to our four students who were selected to take part in the ULMaths Enrichment Programme - Daniel O’Sullivan, Daria Duminska and Daniel Coady-Rainsford (3rdYear) and VivaanTilak (1st Year).These students were selected from a group of 12 students who took part in a maths assessment in January.They now attend ULon Thursday evenings for maths classes to develop their curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Twelve third year students attended a Pi Quiz held in Villiers Secondary School.The Pi Competition is held across the country for third year students to celebrate Pi Day on March 14th each year.

McAleese have been incredibly busy, amongst their regular learning in Italian, with finalising their video entries for the annual National Italian Language Competition organised by the Italian Institute of Culture and the Italian Embassy in Dublin.

We have been very busy this term preparing for our upcoming musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’.The production will take place in-house this year for the first time from the 29thApril-1st May. Tickets are available on Eventbrite!

Second year PE students working hard to complete a HRAfitness circuit as part of their JC CBA. Students worked on increasing their muscular endurance, muscular strength, agility and their balance.

Pat and Ryan, who were successful in reaching this years StripeYoung Scientist andTechnology exhibition at the RDS, were invited to visitAnalog Devices as an reward for their achievements.
The evenings consisted of panels with young analog engineers, talks with industry experts and of course some free food to finish up.

They have received funding from Patch for an initial €400, to purchase equipment to develop their project. Once spent, they can apply to receive an additional €600!
Their next steps are to begin testing their project idea on elderly populations, and have been in touch withAlzheimer’s Society Ireland who have shown huge interest in their project.
SPHE
SixthYear students were invited to take part inArtTherapy sessions during the term. The studio was available as a drop-in centre where the students could enjoy different aspects of art as a way of exploring their own creativity while helping them to deal with the challenges and stresses of their Leaving CertificateYear.

Rising Minds -ALust for Life
FirstYears completed the pilot programme, Rising Minds –ALust for Life, as part of their SPHE curriculum.
This new programme aims to equip students with practical skills and tools to help them navigate the complexities of life by building emotional literacy, empathy, self-compassion and communication. Research on students’ participation in the programme was carried out
It is a busy time of year for 3rd and 6th year students as the race is on to get their projects finished before the end of April deadline. Well done to all the students for some fantastic work done so far.
TransitionYear students have also been busy making headphone stands for their desks. Students have the opportunity to design the base and woodburn their own design into the stand.
5thYear students met with the mentors from Ratigan again this month and it was a busy session with students starting to put the model together including some drawing work for the different house views. It’s great to see the Bungalow coming together!

Hub
The Hub has been a hive of activity this term, offering both strong academic support and plenty of creative, hands on experiences for students. In the lead up to Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, students showcased their entrepreneurial skills by creating and selling a range of handmade products, including chocolates, scented soaps, organic lip balms, and decorative candle holders, with all proceeds going towards school initiatives.
Hub
InArt, students explored lino printing, producing some fantastic and detailed pieces, while our LCA1 class worked hard to design informative leaflets highlighting local supports available to young people. During exam week, the Hub provided a calm and welcoming space where students could relax, unwind and take a break through games and activities, helping to ease pressure during a busy time.As always, the Hub continues to be a vibrant, supportive environment where there is something for everyone.

From the start the boys imposed their dominance with early goals from Sean Duggan andAlex Meaney helping to build a commanding lead. Further scores followed from Bartek Zuzga, Rian Hanrahan - Stewart, Liam Canty and Dylan Kett. Our defence didn’t give up an inch to the Newport attackers only conceding 2-1. In the end, LETTS ran out comprehensive winners on a scoreline of 15-10 to 2-1.The lads are now through to the county semi-final. Thanks to coaches Shane Fox and Eamonn O’Dea.

This term we welcomed two students from Pessac, France and three from Castellon, Spain to our school as part of the Erasmus + LongTerm Mobility Programme.
These five students lived with host families for between four and eight weeks, attended classes and took part in the day to day activities of life with their host families.

The boys were thrilled to take part in the StripeYoung Scientist in the RDS, Dublin.The competition ran until Friday the 9th of March.Their project ‘Súile’aimed to detect signs of early onset Dementia through the use of self- developed eye tracking technology. Well done boys we are so proud of you!
