IN THIS ISSUE:
Our new state of the art floodlit 5aside all weather project was completed this September and is looking amazing. It will be a fantastic facility for both students and staff to use. Without the support of parents/carers, this project would not have been brought to life. We are very appreciative of your ongoing support.
Junior Cycle Results
On October 8th ourTY students received their Junior Cycle results and there were smiles all round! They celebrated with a trip to Munster footgolf and mini golf organised by Misha. We are super proud of you all!
ART
TYclass Lir took part in a 5 week art rotation, creating masks based on the theme Samhain. During this class, students had to use materials and create a mask of their choice - albeit Halloween related! Well done everyone, excellent creations!
Art club were also busy this term creating their Halloween installation for the school. Students worked over lunch time since September to bring their ideas to life. Well done all!
BUSINESS
This October, Irish Funds launched the latest phase of its Financial Literacy TransitionYear Programme with an engaging session at Limerick Educate Together Secondary School.
Launched in 2022, the programme equipsTransitionYear students with essential skills in financial literacy, digital finance, sustainable investing, and broader life skills. Since its inception, the initiative has reached over 1,700 students nationwide. During the 2024/25 academic year alone, it engaged 700 students across 23 schools in 14 counties — with further expansion planned for 2025/26.
Irish Funds CEO Pat Lardner joined Joe Nash on Live95 Limerick to discuss the importance of financial literacy, the role of the funds and asset management industry in Ireland’s economy, and how competitiveness and innovation continue to drive growth and employment across the country.

Junior Cycle Coding
‘Shelter Crafters’ is this year's national Minecraft competition. Students are tasked with designing a shelter and rescue device for a chosen natural disaster. Teams consist of between 4 - 6 students. Deadline forentryis23/1/26.

6th year Geography students recently carried out their Geographical Investigation onThe Processes of Marine Erosion in Kilkee.This is a very important part of their course work and develops many skills including collaboration, carrying out experiments, gathering data and identifying links between the natural world and human activities.They were on their best behaviour and completed all of the tasks required. TYstudents created posters to highlight the threats to biodiversity both in Ireland and around the world. These threats include deforestation and the loss of animal habitats.They also highlight the importance of bees, as pollinators, to a healthy environment.These posters help raise awareness of the threats, but also the positive impacts we can make to biodiversity!

2ndYears engaged in a Creative Home Designs this term. Students applied their understanding of Features and Principles of Design by creating a room design for a bedroom and kitchen. Student then presented to their class.

1st year maths class Meehan took part in a Murder Mystery Puzzle ran byTYstudents to celebrate Maths week this October.
Yeats 1st year maths class were collecting primary categorical data to include in their statistics project! This included numbers, colours and models of staff cars.

The Italian students in 2McAleese have been busy designing and producing their animations exploring and creatively applying the language of daily routine and opinions.They showcased incredible creativity and attention to details throughout which led to outstanding products.This was as part of their PBLassessment in Italian.

PicturevoiceArt Exhibition
Congratulations to Eva, Lucy, Fiadh, Ruby, Darragh, Frank, Seán,Alfie, Jack F and Dylan who were part of a new research study called Picturevoice - a method where students answer questions about their educational experiences through drawing.Their artwork, together with research was exhibited in Mary Immaculate College this September. Our LCAstudents completed key assignments on how to create skirting in a room and how to construct an upper floor. Well done everyone!
Leaving Certificate students looked at accessibility and how we must design for it in modern construction planning for those in wheelchairs etc. Well done all!
OurTYstudents took part in a Bridge building contest where they were given limited material and asked to construct a bridge. We used weights to test the structural of the bridges with some students work getting to 80kg before they broke!

On the 24th of September, both staff and students turned blue for for breakthrough cancer research. Blue baked goods were sold to raise vital funds for this fantastic cause.A total of €957 was raised! Well done to all and thank you for your generous donations!

OurTYActive Schools team ventured to St Brigid’s National School to help out with their school sports day. Our students helped coordinate different activities such as a keepy-uppy competition, plank competition, duck-duck goose and other game. Well done everyone!

RSAShuttle Bus
TYs engaged with a number of interactive activities to learn about the many dangers associated with driving.TYs got to experience a virtual reality of different consequences to actions associated with dangerous driving. Students experienced how to respond to unexpected occurrences on the road, test their reaction speed to breaking in different weather conditions and used beer goggles to experience the effects of drunk driving. Great fun was had!

Mobile Farm
The mobile farm brought a variety of farm animals to school. Students got to experience feeding different types of animals including a calf, sheep and chicks.The animals were delighted to have all the attention as students held, fed and played with the horse, pig, goats, chickens, dog, kittens and rabbits. One of the chickens even laid an egg! Agreat day was had by all!

Well done to our LCA2/some 6th year students who attended the Southside Skills Fair in the LEDPCampus in Roxboro.They got to explore a number of apprenticeship pathways and educational/careers routes that will aid them in making an informed decision about their future career choices.

U16 and U19 Boys Basketball
More action for our LETSS U16s and U19s basketball team in Killaloe against St. Anne's. Our 16s played a well hard fought match against a very good team each quarter showcasing a lot of talent only for then in the last second St.Anne's hit a buzzer beater to win the game - very unlucky! Our main scorers of the day Jeevan Vijandran andAlan Crkon, the game ended on 57-54. On the other hand our u19s had a beautiful performance winning their match against a very tough under 19s team, our main scorers being Harry Smith and Elliot Imbush-Artola.
