IN THE AUTOMOTIVE FIELD, WHERE THERE ARE FLAWS, RICHARD LIN STRIVES FOR PERFECTION. WHILE GROWING UP, RICHARD LIN, OWNER OF SHOWCAR PERFECTION, DIDN’T QUITE APPRECIATE THAT HIS FATHER WAS A HIGHLY RESPECTED CHEMIST, BUT HE ALWAYS KNEW THAT HE WAS A GOOD PROBLEM SOLVER. Richard was drawn to explore creative interests that solved other types of problems ranging from architecture to video production prior to entering the automotive field. “His advice to me was to follow my dreams, be patient with growth, and always do my best,” Richard says.
20
Yorba Linda Lifestyle | June 2021
When, in 2009, Richard suddenly found himself a victim of fraud, a life-changing setback that cost him his life savings, nearly bankrupting him. Although his parents had offered to help him financially, Richard refused to accept it, citing that he had trusted the wrong people and he felt it was important to live with that mistake and correct the situation. Richard’s pride and determination that year led to the creation of several car detailing products and other innovations for which he has earned a stellar reputation in the auto detailing industry today. The success of product sales and the ShowCar Perfection shop have allowed Richard the ability to give back by restoring a vehicle for a family who couldn’t otherwise afford the services. I have a great deal of experience and the right tools to perform “magic” to get the absolute best results.” Richard’s son, Lukas, is now a teenager learning to drive and helps his dad at the shop when he has the time. Like most dads, he often wonders if his son will share the same values and find wisdom in his own mistakes. For now, it will have to be enough to provide him with “unconditional love and guidance, allow him to fail and learn from his mistakes, and expose him to as many positive opportunities as possible.” Showcarperfection.com | 714-350-9080

TONY MONACO (CONTINUED) I also enjoy dining at different restaurants whenever I can, and I have found that there are so many great restaurants in Orange County doing amazing things that inspire me. Also, my parents are business owners themselves and are very active in giving me advice, and always willing to help whenever needed. I wouldn’t be where I am without them as role models and loyal supporters. WHAT ARE YOUR VISIONS AND GOALS FOR THE BLIND PIG KITCHEN + BAR? I’ll always be looking for opportunities to grow and expand, while still remaining involved in the communities that support us. I want to maintain a family-like atmosphere for both our team members and guests. It has been a difficult year for the restaurant industry as a whole, but I absolutely love and appreciate the support Yorba Linda has given us. We are still ingratiating ourselves into this wonderful community, but already we are so happy we decided to open here. WITH EVERYONE IN SURVIVAL MODE DURING THE PAST YEAR, YOU ALSO FOUND A WAY TO GIVE BACK! Yes, we did make 25-30 bag lunches a day for a whole month in May 2020 amid the first shutdowns, to help keep kids at home and front-line workers fed. We are always happy to give out gift cards for various charitable events held in the city.
Tony Monaco with TBP’s Executive Chef Karl Pfleider.

Featured Male Leader COACH TORRES OF BEAR PIT STAYS TRUE TO HIS MILITARY ROOTS WITH TOUGHNESS AND TRAINING.
WHY TERRY NOMINATED COACH TORRES. Coach Torres founded Bear Pit 11 years ago as a training facility for mixed martial arts and pre-military training for individuals before reporting to boot camp. Coach is true to his military roots by investing in the development of self-confidence and strength of his members using MMA, boot camp, self-defense, and pre-military preparation exercises. As Bear Pit had grown from just a few members 11 years ago, its membership makeup has changed significantly to currently over 75% women; Coach says they all feel like family. Coach Torres is deeply committed to supporting the armed forces, firefighters, and veterans and encourages their members to be active in community support, and has brought a fundraising arm to Relay for Life and Taylor’s Wish 5K, where they won the Biggest Team award. Bear Pit is active in the Marine’s Semper 5k and participates in Anaheim’s 4th of July events by gathering one hundred people to carry military banners in the parade. In 2019, Coach fulfilled a dream of launching Battalion Bear Pit, a non-profit aiding the preparation, support, and acclimation of pre-military, active duty, and veterans utilizing the Bear Pit facility as its home base. Coach is a Marine veteran serving from 1990 – 1994, with deployments in Somalia and Desert Storm.
