ISTS, PERFORMERS, AND BUSINESSES. This month’s issue is all about art from many perspectives. We love art because it gives us a glimpse of someone’s heart, the part of them we don’t see on the surface. We are drawn to art through all of our senses, and we appreciate it most when it resonates with something deep within. Through art, we learn about ourselves. When considering ideas for this Arts + Makers issue, we were inspired by the talented local creatives who beautify our community with their work. We have talented art businesses including our Library & Cultural Arts Center, Floral Design, Ballroom Dance, Youth Art Expression, Wine & Painting and Baking! Is there a particular style of art that you are in search of? Flip through these pages to be inspired by local artists' stories and find some new small businesses to check out. While you fill your home with chocolate truffles and roses this month, remember to fill your heart too. Find what makes you feel alive—and don’t forget to share.

ANAHEIM HILLS FLORIST CAROL DOLAN SHARES HER PASSION FOR FLORAL DESIGN INSPIRED BY NATURE AND HER CLIENTS.
a florist’s palette ARTICLE KRISTEN FEWEL | PHOTOGRAPHY JINU CHANG | LOOKY MARKETING
EACH FLOWER IS UNIQUE, AND IN THE HANDS OF A PASSIONATE, ARTISTIC FLORAL DESIGNER, THE ARRANGED OUTCOME CAN BE MAGICAL. Carol Dolan expresses her distinct privilege to ‘paint’ floral arrangements into works of art that mesh with life events such as births, weddings, achievements, and holidays. Her passion for flowers started with her first job and continues to this day as a designer, event specialist, and floral entrepreneur. The florist’s palette is as varied as nature itself, so asking about her favorite flower might seem an impossible question. “I had the opportunity to design in Hawaii, so I really enjoy working with tropical flowers,” says Carol. “The vibrant colors and elegant shapes are like a blank canvas, and they always make a distinct statement. The elegance of the long-stem red rose pairs beautifully with splashes of Stargazer or Asiatic Lily resulting in a beauty only Mother Nature can create-with a little assistance from our talented team of designers, of course.” Some amazing creations come from custom orders based on a favorite fragrance or aesthetic, and succulent arrangements inspired by Southern California’s beautiful desert regions are also popular for their longevity. “It’s always a joy talking with clients. Most of our patrons have ‘that particular flower type’ that they just love, and we design around that flower with other various flowers and greens.” This month Anaheim Hills Florist celebrates their third year delivering ‘Love Arrangements’ to Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, and surrounding areas. To talk with a florist or to place an order for any occasion, visit anaheimhillsflorists.com.

YOUTH EXPRESSION tHROUGH ART
Fifty-five weekly classes including the No Limits Program have continued uninterrupted online so kids can keep dancing.
WHEN THE CURTAINS ARE DOWN, MCCOY RIGBY ARTS, INC. KEEPS THE PERFORMANCE ALIVE FOR THEIR DANCERS.
Tom McCoy and Cathy Rigby have been lifting spirits and fostering performance dreams for more than 15 years at McCoy-Rigby Arts.
WHILE BUSINESSES WERE KEPT ON THEIR TOES LAST YEAR, MCCOY RIGBY ARTS, INC. FOUND A WAY TO KEEP EVERYONE DANCING. The non-profit organization with nearly two dozen employees hustled to produce 55 virtual classes for 165 children, including an award-winning competition team, to continue ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, voice, puppetry, and more. To keep things running smoothly, Tom keeps the spreadsheets straight and communicates with the nonprofit board, and Cathy teaches tumbling and Acro Arts and communicates with parents, donors, and staff. Both are assisted by a team of talented instructors and administrators committed to making McCoy Rigby Arts, Inc. a wonderful place to train. Part of their fundraising and donor efforts produces dance scholarships to reach children in need and the No Limits arts education program for children with autism and other special needs. Cathy and Tom’s vision is to “afford every child the opportunity to participate in the artistic expression of their choice, to discover their highest potential, and to find the joy, confidence, and life-long benefits of creative expression.” This year McCoy Rigby Arts, Inc. is excited for a summer musical and a performance at the new Yorba Linda Public Library. We applaud Tom and Cathy’s tireless effort to keep classes going through a difficult year and look forward to many spectacular future performances. THE PROLONGED UNVEILING OF THE NEW YORBA LINDA PUBLIC LIBRARY AND CULTURAL ARTS CENTER IS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. THE NEW LIBRARY OPENED IN NOVEMBER WITH “GRAB & GO” ACCESS WHILE WE PATIENTLY AWAIT THE OPENING OF A COMPLETELY NEW ADDITION TO THE CITY’S OFFERING OF PUBLIC SPACES: A CULTURAL ARTS CENTER. "The library is no longer just a place to find books,” says Library Director Carrie Lixey. “It’s a dynamic community space with events for all ages and access to non-traditional collections like musical instruments. Once public health guidance allows us to fully open our doors, the full potential of this remarkable facility will be realized. 22

unique areas for all ages, and compelling events and classes, the Library will be a hub in Yorba Linda's thriving community,” Lixey said. "These stunning facilities are going to become the heart of our City," Dr. Beth Haney, City Councilwoman and former Mayor of Yorba Linda, said. "These are not just buildings; they are the future home of countless memories, creative experiences, and new innovative gathering places for our community. This place truly is a gift and is a testament to the City's commitment to excellence." "The Black Box Theater at the Cultural Arts Center will become a premier destination in North Orange County for all kinds of events, from dance recitals to community theater," said Mike Kudron, the City of Yorba Linda's Parks and Recreation Director. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE COOKIE ELEMENT IS TIED TO FAMILY, AND SINCE 2016, THE COOKIE ELEMENT HAS BECOME A SPECIAL PLACE TO MAKE MEMORIES AND SHOW APPRECIATION. Inside the shop is The Periodic Table of Cookie Elements designed by Michael, who is a real working scientist. “The 55th element is LOVE, which we say is the most important in anything you do,” Amy says. The Cookie Element is a little slice of heaven for children and their parents. “My favorite thing in the store is when kids come in because they are celebrating a milestone, accomplishment, or special event and they have chosen The Cookie Element. We, adults, have a special
