I don't know about you, but this time of year, I am always torn. I find myself torn between resisting the commercialization of another greeting card holiday and indulging in all the sweet excuses to enjoy the season. To do a Valentine's Day date out or enjoy a cozy night at home? To buy a card or say a kind word? I usually land somewhere a little in between. We'll each arrive at different answers based on our preferences, personalities, and partner, but what we have in common is an opportunity to make sure those around us know we love them. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate, we hope the pages of this month's magazine will help you do just that as we celebrate and highlight what's to love in our local community. While we teeter between the chill of February Winter and the excitement of Spring, we hope you'll be inspired to take a moment to come together with the people in your life. The ones in your home, your street, your neighborhood, and our community. "Love Local" means the local businesses and those in our community but it also means loving what is near. With Valentine's Day around the corner, I know many of you have had no time to think about what to do or make a reservation. Don't worry; I have plenty of ideas for you. Whether your partner loves a good cocktail, live music, or arts and crafts, I have something for everyone!
A FANCY NIGHT OUT – DISNEY SPRINGS Whether you are a fan of Disney or not, Disney Springs is a fantastic experience. From exquisite
cuisine to delectable cocktails, live performances, and beautiful views, a date night here will be one to remember. Starting with cocktails at The Edison. The Edison is a swanky bar that takes you back in time. They have an extensive selection of unique cocktails and usually have live music and performers. After a few great drinks and a slight buzz, make your way to dinner at STK. From the second you walk in, you will be met with a sultry environment and a live DJ. Start the night with some drinks and appetizers at Chef's Table. With a romantic atmosphere and excellent service, your date will be impressed that this is the first stop. Next up is Market to Table for dinner. This a local favorite, and for good reason. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is phenomenal. Their menu is seasonally inspired with fresh ingredients. Get a few things to split, and I know you won't be disappointed. End the night with some live music at The Attic Door. This place has the coziest vibes and great live music, so grab a couch and get comfy! These are just a few of the many fantastic dining and entertainment options Downtown Winter Garden has to offer.
A CREATIVE NIGHT OUT – HAMLIN If your partner is someone who loves activities or crafts, I have the perfect date night for you! Start the night off with some craft-making at Pinspiration. Pinspiration is an art studio that hosts numerous classes for all types of crafting. If you're feeling adventurous, sign up for the Splatter Room, where you can throw paint all over each other and the room! After your creative experience, you will both be ready for a bite to eat, so head over to Bosphorous for a delicious meal. Bosphorous is a Turkish restaurant that never disappoints. The atmosphere is laid back, so you don't have to worry about being a little messy from Pinspiration. I recommend getting a couple of appetizers and splitting a couple of meals, that way, you both can try a few different things because everything is so delicious. You also can't forget to order a few of their unique cocktails. End the night with a craft beer and live music at Home State Brewery. They have couches to relax, live music to listen to, and great local beer. If you like games, they have cornhole, cards, and board games for anyone to use! Intentional Love THE 5 LANGUAGES OF LOVE ARTICLE BY DR. WENDI WARDLAW
Did you know Love is an action, not just a thought, feeling, or expression? Love can move, stop, and change the atmosphere. It's an outside expression of an inside heart posture. Real Love is a powerful force. Love is a choice. Most psychologists believe that being Loved is a primary human emotional need that fuels our psyche, mind, soul, and spirit. Love speaks a language just like we do. When we can tap into the language of those we intend to express Love to, our Love is received. Based on Gary Chapman's book, "The 5 love languages", we see that Love can be expressed and received in many ways. When we desire to express Love, we must put on the hat of the receiver and speak their love language. It's not enough to only understand our Love language because what makes us feel Love may not be the same as what others need to feel Love. Love is searching for this key to another's heart and acting upon it. When you speak the Love language of others, it can be received as Love. With this in mind, let's dive into the 5 love languages as expressed in the book.

1. WORDS OF AFFIRMATION This type of person is usually motivated by encouraging and kind words. Because they see Love this way, bullying and nagging are absolute turnoffs. Instead, this person feels loved when honored with encouragement and acknowledgment.
2. QUALITY TIME Time is our biggest commodity, which can't be reproduced. Some feel loved when you share yourself with them. They are asking for focused attention and quality conversations. This type of love language feels loved when they are heard. Therefore, being a listener is also called, I love you.
3. RECEIVING GIFTS Some desire a visual symbol of Love with gifts and tokens that say, I love you. They consider the investment in their joy a sign of Love. This investment doesn't have to be monetary. It could be hopes and dreams that desire to become tangible.
4. ACTS OF SERVICE This type of person feels Loved when there is a physical action to the expression of Love. This action, however, must be freely given, or it will not be received as Love. For example, Acts of Service could be washing the car or taking out the trash without being told. Its effort says I Love you.
5. PHYSICAL TOUCH There is so much power in touch because this action affects and turns on our brains. For a person with physical touch as their love language, a hug can say more than a thousand words when trying to express; I Love you.

In a nutshell, expressing Love can only be received as Love when spoken in the Love language of the receiver. Therefore, when there is an effort to decode what Love looks like for others, it can be received and valued as Love. In this month of LOVE, be sure that your "I Love You" lands in the heart of the intended. You do this by intentionally studying what I love you looks and feels like for the receiver of your heart.

Anyone can bring home a dozen roses or a box of chocolates, but it takes a loving and thoughtful partner to go above and beyond. If you’re looking to surprise your loved one this year with a grand gesture, there’s nothing that can compare to a romantic, homemade dinner for two. And what says ‘romantic’ more than a hearty Italian dish paired with a bold cabernet and enjoyed under candlelight. Lay down a crisp white tablecloth, bust out the good crystal and turn an otherwise cliché night into a magical memory. Try my Pasta Bolognese this Valentine’s Day to show your sweetheart some amore.

pasta bolognese
ingredients: • • • • • • • • • • • • •
2lbs Ground Beef 1lb Ground Pork 4oz finely diced Pancetta 1 small Yellow Onion, finely diced 2-3 Carrots, finely diced 2-3 ribs of Celery, finely diced 6 cloves of minced Garlic ¼ bottle of Red Wine ½ stick of Butter ½ cup Whole Milk ½ cup Regular Cream ½ can of Beef Consume 1 large can of Tomato Sauce
• 1 large can of Tomato Puree • 1 small can of petite diced Tomatoes • 1 tbs Garlic Powder • 1 tbs Onion Powder • 2 tsp Salt and Pepper • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes • 2 Bay Leaves • 3 leaves chopped fresh Basil • 1lb Rigatoni (or your favorite pasta shape) • Freshly grated Parmesan • Large Sauce Pot

method: 1. Finely dice all of the vegetables, and measure out the remaining ingredients to keep the cooking process quick and efficient. 2. On medium-low heat, sauté the pancetta until all of the fat is rendered and the pancetta is crisp. Remove from the pot into a side bowl. Then sear and cook the beef and pork 1 pound at a time. Remove from the pot into a side bowl. 3. With the remaining grease left in the pot, sweat the onion until halfway cooked, then add carrot and celery to finish cooking together. Add the garlic for the last 30 seconds. 4. Add the wine to deglaze the bottom of the pan and scrape any stuck bits with a wooden spoon. Add all the meat to the pot with the veggies and mix. Then add all remaining ingredients in the order that they’re listed and mix again. Season to your preference. 5. Place on a very low simmer, uncovered, and allow to cook and reduce for 3 hours. The liquid will reduce during that time. Be sure to stir occasionally and monitor the heat to avoid scorching the bottom. 6. Once ready to serve, boil a large pot of salted water and cook pasta until slightly al dente. Drain pasta and add it back to the boiling pot. Then ladle the Bolognese sauce over the pasta and mix until adequately covered with a good sauce ratio to pasta. 7. Serve in wide-mouth bowls or on large flat plates. Top with parmesan cheese and enjoy with a salad, bread, and your sweetheart’s favorite red wine.
