JANUARY 2021 PUBLISHER
Candice Berube | candice.berube@lifestylepubs.com AD DESIGNER
Bring on 2021! A FRESH START FOR WESTFIELD AND SOUTHWICK! Well, folks, we have arrived in 2021! This past year felt both like it went by in a blur and like it would never end. But one thing is certain—we wouldn’t have made it to this turn of the year without the support of our incredible community. That’s you!

This January, we want to take some time to focus on our health, your health, and our Community's health. We all thrive when we work together towards this goal, and businesses are taking note. Kasperowski Family Dentistry knows just how important good dental health is to our overall well-being. Self-care is equally important, and The Shot Shop shares just how looking and feeling better, helps you perform better. Make a point to check on your friends more often this month. Maybe instead of doing happy hour, you offer to meet up for a socially-distanced yoga class at Dhira Yoga. Or maybe you take inspiration from your fellow residents on the positive life changes they have made as a result of the pandemic. Whatever the next step for you is, we want to be a part of it. Share your January goals with us on social media so we can cheer you on! And, just like the beautiful

Westfield Food Pantry provides Thanksgiving Meals This Thanksgiving we helped feed over 3,250 Westfield residents. We delivered meals to homes, worked with the Westfield Police Department, Westfield Boys & Girls Club, Westfield Public Schools, and prepared dinners for Westfield Senior Center. While there has been record need, there’s been equal community generosity, and collaboration. Thank you!

PARIGHASANA (GATE POSE) Parighasana energizes and lightens the side body and increases your capacity to breathe, invites the breath to become truly three-dimensional. In Sanskrit parigha means "the bar used for shutting a gate."
AGNISTAMBHASANA (FIRE LOG POSE) Agni, the God of Fire, is honored, with an altar of fire logs that serve to sacrifice or melt open the hips and groin, stoked by a steady breath, producing a calm mind.
KAPOTASANA (PIDGEON POSE) This pose honors both a bird of peace, the "Kapota" or Pidgeon, and a great yoga master named "Kapota". Placing the heart before the head, the pose increases vigor, strength, vitality, and agility. Dhira Yoga, 617 College Highway, Southwick. dhirayogacenter.com

Cousin to Vitamin B12, benefits include improved cognitive function, reduced effects of ptsd and anxiety, and opioid addiction. Emsella - A breakthrough treatment for incontinence and confidence. This unique technology utilizes electromagnetic energy to deliver thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions in a single session. These contractions re-educate the muscles of incontinent patients. Emsella revolutionizes men and women’s intimate health and wellness with a completely non-invasive option. Emsculpta - EMSCULPT is the first device to build muscle and sculpt your body. Through the high intensity electromagnetic therapy procedure one can enlarge current muscles, as well as grow new muscle fibers. The Emsculpt procedure is currently FDA cleared to treat your abdominals, buttocks, arms, calves and thighs. We brought it in as an aesthetic device, but found it was helping patients not just improve appearance, but also build strength, which helps them in their day-to-day activities.

GREEN T E A - NAT U R E ' S M E D IC I N E? A STEAMING CUP OF TEA WARMS YOU ON A COLD WINTER NIGHT, SOOTHES A SORE THROAT, AND RELAXES YOU. But what about drinking tea to promote weight loss, prevent and treat cancer, lower blood sugar, and protect your heart? Is it time to get a prescription for that teacup? Green tea is a nutritional powerhouse with naturally existing plant chemicals called Catechins. Heat treatment at harvest preserves those Catechins so that we may reap its benefits. Green tea may lower Total Cholesterol, LDL’s (bad cholesterol), Triglycerides and blood pressure. It may raise HDL’s (good cholesterol). It may lessen the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
