Ladies Issue

In this year’s Women’s Issue, we turn our attention to those unseen battles, honoring the women who show up each day with resilience, intention, and grace.

The women featured in these pages are not only leaders, creators, and visionaries—they are steady forces navigating the delicate balance between ambition and presence, work and family, giving and sustaining. Their stories reflect what it means to fight for peace in a world that often pulls in the opposite direction, and to protect the priorities that matter most, even when it isn’t easy.

We explore what it looks like to build something meaningful over time—not just in business, but in the lives they nurture and the values they carry forward. Success, as they reveal, is often shaped in the smallest moments: in the consistency of showing up, in advocating for others, and in choosing integrity again and again.

Perhaps most powerfully, this issue invites a deeper reflection—on the legacy being quietly built through daily decisions, and on the kind of strength it takes to remain grounded when no one is watching.

As you read, we hope you see pieces of your own story reflected here. And more importantly, that you take a moment to recognize the women in your life who are fighting their own quiet battles with extraordinary courage.

Happy Mother’s Day!

THEGAMBIVALENT ENERATION

Is it possible to want something and not want it at the same time? Not only is it possible, but it is also a common experience most can relate to. Consider the common desire to lose weight, while also lacking the will to cut out the sugary treats. Desires exist for both things. This internal struggle of wanting two things that may be directly in opposition to one another is best defined as ambivalence. A co-existence of contradictory feelings. A descriptor that could easily be applied to the senior population as it relates to their relationship with senior living.

Today’s seniors were raised by parents who were directly impacted by World War II, The Great Depression, and shaped by early 20th century values. They were raised to have character, defined by a sense of duty, sacrifice and work ethic. This group is also defined by the magnitude of progress they have witnessed with their own eyes. From technological innovation to industry expansion, to the evolution of health care and shift toward patient choice, the volume of changes and adjustments this generation has adapted to is unmatched.

Perhaps one of the most notable shifts in the last 100 years, or even the last 50 years, is the senior living model. It is likely that any reader over the age of 50 can recall a visit to a nursing home as a child. For most, this experience was not a flattering one for the senior housing industry. At one time, caring for elders mirrored the hospital model with an institutional environment that was focused on providing the basics like shelter and food, while ignoring the deeper parts of the human existence.

Fast forward to 2026, and the senior living industry now looks and feels more like a resort with luxurious amenities and services, chef-prepared meals and impressively, spacious apartments. Take West Fort Worth’s very own Stevenson Oaks, recently opened in 2022, it currently offers 172 Independent Living Apartments, 40 Assisted Living Apartments and 24 Memory Support Suites. Soon they will be breaking ground on a Long-Term Care house, which will open roughly 18 months after construction begins in the second quarter of 2026. Adding Long-Term Care to the campus will make Stevenson Oaks a true Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) — a concept that has become especially popular among today’s seniors who consider themselves to be planners, hoping to align all their future care decisions with an organization or group of people they trust.

Stevenson Oaks’ Marketing Director, Harmon Nelson, shared, “When you first drive up to the Stevenson Oaks’ property, you are struck by the beautiful grounds, then you walk inside and it is truly breathtaking. This place is such a long way from what I suspect most people picture when they think of senior living. But most of all, they catch the vision of what Stevenson Oaks is about when they meet the people, active, interesting and thriving seniors, just like them! That’s why we encourage people to come see Stevenson Oaks themselves. Once they do, I am confident it will shatter all preconceived notions. ”

Despite the complete shift senior housing has made, it seems this generation holds a certain level of ambivalence toward making the move. Perhaps it is the core memories of what the industry once looked like, or the reluctance

to face the enormous task of downsizing, the reasons to stay in the home are many. And yet, this same group, who has adapted arguably more than any other generation before them, sees the potential excitement in retiring from  backbreaking yardwork and housework that comes with home ownership, not to mention the daily cooking and cleaning routine. Interestingly, this group tends to reflect well on the impact of isolation and loneliness on one’s well-being. Perhaps it is the shared experience of the COVID shutdown that makes this an easier topic to broach than ever before, but the frequency of these conversations on both social media and other senior-focused platforms seem to indicate an increased value of how a decline in well-being is a red flag worth monitoring. Plus, when it comes to future care, this group generally remains realistic that relying on their children isn’t likely an option, and for most, not one they would entertain anyway. Nelson weighed in, “We hear this sentiment all the time, they do not want to be a burden to their children. It’s a very common feeling, one that does seem to prompt action to ensure it doesn’t land on the kids, while others can’t quite overcome the pull their own home has on them.”

When it comes to senior living, should the baby boomer generation also be called the ambivalent generation? A generation of seniors with an internal tug of war inside themselves. They want their home, but they don’t want the chores that come with it. They want to plan for their future, but they don’t want to make any changes today.

It is this familiar, ambivalent spirit that somehow wants both things.  Resident Christina “Chris” Shahan of Stevenson Oaks shared her own experience saying, “My husband, Mike, and I lived in a lovely home close to the TCU campus. We loved our home and the neighborhood: large swimming pool that easily held all eight grandchildren, easily accessible activities at TCU, wonderful neighbors and nearby restaurants. However, it was getting harder and harder to keep up a home that was built in the 1940s. And we had stairs that were getting harder and harder to climb.” CONTINUED >

You see, the love they had for their home didn’t fade when the desire to leave the home began to set in. The odd tension between loving their home and desiring to leave it behind is a perfect example of ambivalence. When asked if the tug toward the house lingered after making the move she shared, “It took very little time for us to feel comfortable in our new home. The community was very friendly and welcoming. We loved being able to walk to the dining room, sit down and be served. Mealtimes were a great time to sit and visit and get to know our neighbors. Mike and I have a blended family. All four of our children are glad we moved here. When they come to visit, they see what a loving community it is. They are glad that we moved into such an aesthetically pleasing building and that I feel so comfortable here.”

She was also quick to point out that the adjustment period had its challenges too. She explained, “Packing up our things and deciding what we would not have room for was very hard. We had some beautiful, large antique furniture and my husband loved to do woodworking in the garage where he had tools that he had acquired over many years. We did feel ready to move because of some health problems my husband had and dreading how much harder moving would be if we put it off.”

Nelson added, “The internal tug of war is a bit different for each person, for some it is the draw between wanting to simplify their life, and the tug to stay at home where they have built a comfort zone. For others, it is a determination to do things on their own, you know, making their own decisions, while also wanting to wait as long as possible before making any changes. It doesn’t always have to be logical; it really is possible for two things to be true when it comes to what seniors want. But what’s interesting is what happens to those who make the decision to move to Stevenson Oaks, almost 100% of the time they say they regret not doing it sooner!”

It seems our lived experiences gather up on one side or the other in this internal tug of war, shifting a bit as we age but ever tugging us in one direction or the other. Nelson added, “Another thing we hear repeatedly is seniors who say they don’t feel ready yet. But, you see, that’s the problem. Because if you are waiting around to feel ready, that day will likely never come — at least for most people.”

For Shahan, the timing of the move came just at the right moment. “Six weeks after we moved in, my husband died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest,” she explained, “the community could not have been kinder or more comforting toward me. When you move in, your life continues with all the ups and downs it has always had. The best thing about a place like Stevenson Oaks is that you have friends and neighbors with which to share those ups and downs.”

Ultimately, seniors who are feeling a tug toward senior living should expect that the feelings of loss will assuredly be mixed into any decision they make. Embracing senior living also requires embracing a new season. This emotional journey can feel especially difficult as this age group is facing more major life changes annually than any other.

Nelson shared, “I encourage seniors to explore the ambivalence they may be experiencing toward senior living, check out the options in the area, talk to the kids, discuss with their advisors, and try to really understand what they want most out of this season. Then, align their decisions accordingly. We have a little saying in the senior living business, ‘where you live matters.’ There is no substitute for a community of like-minded people through the ups and downs of life. Now that’s something your house can’t do for you. There is no doubt in my mind: Choosing where to age will most certainly determine how you age.”

“WHEN YOU FIRST DRIVE UP TO THE STEVENSON OAKS’ PROPERTY, YOU ARE STRUCK BY THE BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS, THEN YOU WALK INSIDE AND IT IS TRULY BREATHTAKING. THIS PLACE IS SUCH A LONG WAY FROM WHAT I SUSPECT MOST PEOPLE PICTURE WHEN THEY THINK OF SENIOR LIVING.”

BECKY HILLYARD

From Side Hustle to Style Empire

The power of taste, trust, and the courage to “just start.”

She didn’t have a business plan, a media budget, or even a name anyone could pronounce. What Becky Hillyard had was taste, a young family, and the instinct to just start. Today, her lifestyle brand Cella Jane commands an audience the size of Vogue’s, she’s nine collections strong with Splendid, and she’s built it all while raising three kids — refusing to sacrifice one for the other. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Becky shares what it really takes to build a brand, a career, and a life you love. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full conversation.

Q: WHEN DID YOU KNOW CELLA JANE WAS MORE THAN A HOBBY?

A: Two moments. Women started emailing me saying they bought something I recommended and felt amazing — asking me to help them find a dress for a wedding. That felt incredible. Then I looked at my affiliate numbers for one month and realized I could cover our mortgage. I thought, I can actually do this. I never set out to build a business. I started it because I genuinely loved it.

Becky in Splendid x @CellaJaneBlog Spring 2026 Collection

Q: WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST RISK YOU EVER TOOK WITH THE BRAND?

A: Designing my own collection. It’s easy to point at items on a website and say I love these. But to create something from scratch, put your name on it, and wait to see if people connect with it — that’s terrifying. I had an incredible partner in Splendid, and women loved the pieces. It was the biggest risk and the biggest accomplishment.

Q: HOW HAS INFLUENCER MARKETING CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?

A: When I started, brands didn’t know whether to take it seriously. Now it’s a legitimate line item in their marketing budgets — sometimes bigger than TV. Because what we’ve built is trust. People trust a real recommendation from someone they follow far more than a commercial. There’s no question about it now.

Q: YOU’RE A MOM OF THREE RUNNING A FULL BRAND. WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?

A: I try to get up at five and not hit snooze — that first hour before the house wakes up is the most productive, most peaceful hour of my day. Then it’s all hands on deck with the kids and school drop-off. After that I work — planning content, connecting with my team, editing. After pickup, the day shifts completely and it’s all about them. I’ve learned to protect both halves fiercely, because both matter.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BUILD SOMETHING OF THEIR OWN BUT KEEPS WAITING?

A: Don’t wait. Don’t wait for the perfect camera, the right strategy, or enough followers. We find every excuse to stay comfortable. Just start, be consistent, and be authentically yourself. The right people will find you — and they’ll stay.

This conversation is just the beginning. Becky goes deeper on the risks that almost stopped her, the design process behind her latest Splendid collection, and what she’d tell her 2012 self today. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on the Share the Lifestyle Podcast.

Fort Worth Women Leading with Strength and Intention

Strength doesn’t always announce itself. More often, it’s found in the quiet, daily choices—protecting what matters, showing up with intention, and continuing forward when no one is watching. The women in this year’s Women’s Issue embody that kind of strength. Through their work, their families, and their inner lives, they are each fighting battles that may go unseen but shape everything they build.

Whether it’s choosing peace over pressure, holding firm to their values, nurturing meaningful work, or standing in the gap for others, their stories reflect a steady, resilient courage. These reflections offer a glimpse into the everyday decisions that define not only success, but a life lived with purpose, integrity, and care.

What does fighting for the success of your business look like in the everyday moments?

Showing up creates success, and I don’t just mean in my office! My patients know they can text me after hours with any questions or concerns about their teeth, and I believe they really value having a genuine connection with their dentist and not being just another number.

How have you fought for balance between work and family? Is there a practice you returnto consistently?

My family is so important to me. I have chosen not to work late hours or weekends so that I can spend quality time with my husband and daughter and not feel burnt out or disengaged in that time. Although my practice is always on my mind, I am truly thankful that owning one brings me more flexibility.

“Strength is keeping a positive mindset and remembering that owning a practice is what I always dreamed of, regardless of any obstacles!” “

What does strength look like for you when no one is watching?

When you own a business, some days will be amazing, and others will be mentally draining. Strength is keeping a positive mindset and remembering that owning a practice is what I always dreamed of, regardless of any obstacles!

RASHMI BARR

BARR FAMILY DENTISTRY

MEGAN HOLLAND

What does fighting for the s uccess of your business look like in the everyday moments?

It means protecting the mission, supporting the people we serve, and ensuring the work we’re doing actually improves someone’s life. Changes in regulations can directly impact how we care for our patients, but we continue to find ways to deliver meaningful and accessible care to the people who depend on us.

In what ways have you fought for your clients or customers ?

My main priority has always been to firmly advocate for my patients, push for solutions that allow people to continue receiving care, help them navigate overwhelming systems, and ensure their needs remain central to every decision we make.

Mental health support can be the difference between someone surviving a difficult season of life and feeling completely alone in it.

What is a fight people might be s urprised you’ve taken on—and how has it shaped you?

Our work is deeply human. You know that the services you provide can profoundly impact someone’s life. Balancing that responsibility while navigating operational challenges can be heavy at times. It has taught me resilience and the importance of staying grounded in why the work matters.

What are you still fighting for—even if the outcome isn’t guaranteed?

I’m still fighting for a future where mental health care is accessible without barriers, continuing to advocate, adapt, and build patient-first systems.

The mission is clear: people deserve the opportunity to receive life-saving mental health support when they need it.

What has it looked like to fight for peace in your life? I talk to God all day long. I make time for the things I enjoy, including spending time with my children whenever possible. We go to the park, and I swing on the swings, give them under-doggies, climb on the monkey bars, have races, and sometimes I sit on the bench and knit while they play. We need space to just “be”.

How have you fought for balance between work and family? Is there a practice you return to consistently?

When I’m working, I block that time off and get ‘er done. I set reminders and alarms on my phone so I can release my to-dos and enjoy my family. I don’t answer every unsolicited email.

“I make time for the things I enjoy, including spending time with my children whenever possible.” “

What is a fight people might be surprised you’ve taken on—and how has it shaped you?

Having 12 kids changed me a lot, but moving to TX and buying Clean Juice Clearfork was crazier! The last 4 years have been the most challenging of my whole life, but have produced the most growth as well.

I’m so grateful!

SARAH PROUD

In what ways have you fought for your clients or customers?

I refuse to give my clients surface-level care. I dig deep and look for root causes even when it takes more time. I advocate when something doesn’t feel right, and I build plans that fit their lives. It means treating their health, goals, and trust as my personal responsibility.

What legacy are you quietly building through your daily choices?

I’m building a legacy of excellence, integrity, and impact, without needing it to be loud. It’s in how I care for people, how I run my business, and how I follow through. I want what I build to outlast me in a meaningful way, whether that’s through the lives I’ve helped change or the systems I’ve created.

What does strength look like for you when no one is watching?

Strength looks like discipline in the unseen moments. It’s staying consistent, making the hard choices, and keeping promises to myself. It’s choosing long-term growth over short-term comfort, even when no one would know the difference. That quiet consistency is where real strength is built.

“I refuse to give my clients surface-level care. I dig deep and look for root causes even when it takes more time.” “

What does fighting for the success of your business look like in the everyday moments?

It’s the unglamorous consistency. It’s refining systems, reviewing details, following up, and making things better one small improvement at a time. It’s holding a higher standard even when no one would notice if I didn’t. The success of my business is built on hundreds of quiet, disciplined decisions made every single day.

ALEX STRONG

FORTE WELLNESS

How do you protect priorities that align with your values?

I often say no. I’ve learned growth alone isn’t a good enough reason to say yes. Protecting values doesn’t look dramatic; it’s quiet, consistent decisions. It’s choosing projects that reflect the kind of work we want to put into the world and working with people who value craftsmanship, integrity, and thoughtful design.

In what ways have you fought for your clients or customers?

By being the calm voice in complicated moments. Building or renovating a home is deeply personal, with many moving parts and unexpected challenges. We bring clarity—reminding clients we’re in it with them and that the goal isn’t just finishing a project, but creating something they’ll love for years.

“We bring clarity— reminding clients we’re in it with them and that the goal isn’t just finishing a project, but creating something they’ll love for years.” “

What legacy are you quietly building through your daily choices?

I hope it’s integrity in the built environment—spaces that are thoughtful, lasting, and rooted in place. Homes should feel like they belong to the land and the families in them, serving people well for generations.

What has it looked like to fight for peace in your life?

Peace is something I’ve had to choose. Wrestling with anxiety taught me how intentional you have to be about protecting your inner life. In design and construction, there’s constant motion— deadlines, decisions, personalities—and without care, that noise can follow you everywhere.

ALLIE PEARSON

ASHLYN WIMMER

LIGHTHOUSE SCHOOL OF FORT WORTH

How do you protect priorities that align with your values?

I protect priorities that align with our company and personal values by staying grounded in one core belief: what we do has to actually matter in real life for our families.

In what ways have you fought for your clients or customers?

At Lighthouse, we’re committed to providing realistic ABA, not cookie-cutter, clinic-only programming that looks good on paper and to insurance providers but doesn’t translate outside our walls. We want our clients to gain skills they can use at home, in school, and in their community. If it doesn’t carry over into their real lives, then we need to rethink what we’re doing. This also brings Lighthouse School into the mix by providing a realistic, educational environment in our community for our students who might learn a little differently and still need intensive behavioral support, or simply an environment that understands them.

What does fighting for the success of your business look like in the everyday moments?

We don’t let business pressures drive clinical decisions. It would be easier to run a more standardized, predictable model like most other ABA companies, but that’s not why we exist. We adjust, individualize, and sometimes do things the hard way because it’s what actually serves the child and their family.

That mindset has shaped our culture. We’re not here to check boxes; we’re here to make a real difference in our families’ everyday lives.

KRISTEN BARBEE

HONEY LOVES BOHO

In what ways have you fought for your clients or customers?

I fight for every woman to feel confident, included, and excited to get dressed. So many women, especially our curvy babes, have been left out of the fashion conversation for far too long. I’ve made it my mission to create a space where all shapes and sizes are celebrated. Everyone deserves to feel good in their own skin.

What does fighting for the success of your business look like in everyday moments?

It’s a lot of dreaming and problem-solving. I’m constantly asking myself how I can show up for my customers, and I keep going because of how much the community I’ve built means to me.

What legacy are you quietly building through your everyday choices? I want to leave behind a legacy of joy, kindness, and community. Honey Loves Boho is that feeling brought to life – its color, positivity, and a place where you can feel like you belong. If I can help someone feel confident and seen, that’s everything to me.

What has it looked like to fight for peace in your life?

I fight for peace every single day. I’m always reminding myself of my worth and learning to feel confident in my own skin. Pouring myself into my business has brought me a kind of peace I didn’t know I needed. It’s become my outlet, my purpose, and something that makes all the hard moments feel worth it. I know I created something magical.

What has it looked like to fight for peace in your life?

For much of my life, I equated peace with people-pleasing. Fighting for peace has meant separating that from my drive to achieve, my love for others, and my faith. I’ve learned peace cannot come from trying to please everyone. It comes from knowing who I am, where I begin and end, and setting boundaries that are loving to both myself and others.

How have you fought for balance between work and family? Is there a practice you return to consistently?

Balance has meant learning to shift between roles while staying present. My work requires emotional presence, leadership, and continual growth.  At home, simple routines steady me. I also “brain dump” to release mental clutter, allowing me to be fully present. Balance isn’t perfect division; it’s returning to grounded connection with myself and others.

How do you protect priorities that align with your values?

I protect my priorities by caring for my mind, body, and soul. I’m intentional about what I consume, how I care for my health, and investing in meaningful community. Living these values allows me to show up authentically.

“Balance isn’t perfect division; it’s returning to grounded connection with myself and others.” “

In what ways have you fought for your clients or customers?

I fight for my clients by holding hope for them and helping them access their own capacity for healing.

BESSIE ANN CHRISTENSON

REHOPE COUNSELING

ADRIENNE ARCHIDIACONO

How do you protect priorities that align with your values?

By structuring my days around intention – sometimes that may be a morning meditation, movement, and present time with my family before anything else. In my practice, I choose materials and workflows that reflect our holistic, low-waste philosophy, even when it requires extra effort.

What does fighting for the success of your business look like in the everyday moments?

It looks like consistency in small decisions, such as how I show up for my patients, how I train my team, and how I stay committed to mindful care.

It’s showing up with patience, even on hard days, and leading with the highest clinical standard and compassion.

What are you still fighting for—even if the outcome isn’t guaranteed?

I’m advocating for a broader understanding of oral health as part of whole-body wellness. Shifting mindsets takes time, but I believe deeply in its impact.

What season of life required the most endurance from you?

Building my practice while raising young children required the most endurance—balancing motherhood, leadership, and self-care while staying rooted in my values.

KARINA BENAVIDES

ZAFIRO JEWELERS

What legacy are you quietly building through your daily choices?

I am building a legacy rooted in meaning and intention. As a second-generation jeweler, each piece is designed to carry a story—worn today and passed on over time. Legacy is something you feel long before you define it.

What does fighting for the success of your business look like in the everyday moments?

It looks like consistency in the unseen moments— showing up with care, staying aligned with my vision, and continuing forward even when growth feels slow. Success is built in the decisions no one sees.

In what ways have you fought for your clients or customers?

I lead with honesty and intention, guiding clients toward pieces that reflect their story—not just trends. Jewelry is not just worn, it is carried.

What is a fight people might be surprised you’ve taken on—and how has it shaped you? Rebuilding in a new place while staying true to my roots required resilience and trust in my vision. Growth often begins by choosing to start again.

How do you protect priorities that align with your values?

At the core of my work are empathy, integrity, and a deep respect for every patient’s story. Honoring those values often means slowing down, listening more closely, and advocating for individuals who haven’t felt heard in other healthcare settings. It also requires being intentional about protecting my own energy, so I can continue to show up and provide the same level of thoughtful, compassionate care each day.

What does strength look like for you when no one is watching?

Strength, to me, is consistency when there’s no recognition attached. It’s doing the work well even when no one is paying attention—staying disciplined, continuing to learn, and following through on what matters. It also means choosing sustainable, long-term growth over shortcuts, even when the easier path is tempting.

What has it looked like to fight for peace in your life?

WOERNER PHYSICAL THERAPY

“As a pelvic floor therapist, I spend my days with people who are often in pain, frustrated, or feeling unheard.” “

Fighting for peace, for me, has meant learning how to carry empathy without letting it consume me. As a pelvic floor therapist, I spend my days with people who are often in pain, frustrated, or feeling unheard. I care deeply about my patients, but I’ve had to learn that I can’t carry every story home with me. Peace looks like setting emotional boundaries while still showing up with compassion. It’s taking a walk after work, taking a few quiet breaths before I walk through my front door, and reminding myself that caring for people well also requires caring for myself.

A WEEKEND ESCAPE TO FREDERICKSBURG: WHERE CHARM, WINE, AND ADVENTURE MEET

RELAXED, REFINED, AND FULL OF HILL COUNTRY

VIBES

In the heart of Hill Country lies the city of Fredericksburg. German culture and influence run deep in this history-rich place filled with exciting restaurants, charming shops, miles of vineyards and orchards, and a uniqueness only Hill Country can offer. It’s a popular destination for North Texans for a reason; if you’re looking to plan a weekend getaway with the girls, this is the spot.

If you’ve been to Fredericksburg before, you probably know how hard it is to choose where to dine, shop, and sample local wines. Each time I visit, I make an effort to try at least one new restaurant, browse different stores, and

stop by wineries I haven’t visited, and yet, I still have a list full of places I want to experience. I’m hoping to provide you with a few new ideas, confirm spots you know to be amazing, and help you plan the ultimate weekend with friends.

How you end up spending your time in Fredericksburg depends on what you love to do. If you and your friends are outdoor enthusiasts, a hike around Enchanted Rock, the second-largest granite dome in the country, a visit to Wildseed Farms to wander the half-mile walking trail surrounding the display gardens, or driving out to Old Tunnel State Park in time to watch the Mexican free-tail bats take flight for the night should be at the top of your list.

If you prefer to enjoy the numerous wineries that line Highway 290, it’ll be hard to decide where to start. I recommend beginning your day at Grape Creek Vineyards, as it’s one of the most popular wineries in the region—not to mention the gorgeous Tuscan-inspired estate! Afterwards, head next door to its sister winery, Heath Sparkling Wines, where you can partake in an incredible sparkling wine sampler paired with a variety of chef-prepared small bites. Take note that walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended.

Another winery you don’t want to miss is Becker Vineyards, where you can stroll through lavender fields that bloom until the end of May, and taste award-winning wines like Vignoier, Chardonnay, and Sangiovese.

After a day appreciating the natural beauty of the region or sampling what

the Wine Road 290 has to offer, make your way back into town for dinner. If you want to go all out, make a reservation at Cabernet Grill, where an on-staff sommelier will pair your meal with Texas wines, many of them grown and made locally. Otto’s German Bistro is where you can get an authentic farm-to-table dining experience, and the newer Granite House Lounge serves up New Orleans-inspired fare and fantastic cocktails.

If your group desires something a little more laid-back, there’s West End Pizza, with outdoor seating and games, Burger Burger, and Das Peach Haus, the original location of Fischer & Wieser. Browse the store for marinades, sauces, and preserves, and then wander to the back, where, on weekends, you can buy a bottle of wine (from their vineyard) and a charcuterie board before you settle down in an Adirondack chair that overlooks a pond. Watch the sun go down and enjoy a slice of classic Fredericksburg with friends.

For night owls and music lovers, may I suggest an after-dinner stop at the Rockbox Theater? Located right around the corner from Main Street, it has a unique design that makes for incredible acoustics, and performances range from The Beatles and Elvis Presley tribute bands to ‘90s country covers and swing music.

Before you head home after a successful weekend, stop in one of the numerous shops along Main Street, like Hill Country Outfitters, Haberdashery, and Zertz. From there, head over to the Warehouse District, where you’ll find Carol Hicks Bolton Antiques, and my personal favorite, Blackchalk Home and Laundry.

Since it’s also peach season, be sure to stop at Wahl’s Peaches, Gold Orchards, Vogel Orchard, or Fischer & Weiser’s Tha Stand to stock up on freshly picked peaches before you make your way back to North Texas. A weekend getaway isn’t nearly enough time to get your fill of Fredericksburg, but with the right group of friends and the right plan, it surely is a great start.

GARDEN TO GLASS

DIY COCKTAILS WITH FRESH HERBS

Nothing says spring like the aroma of fresh-cut herbs in a crisp, cold, cocktail. With warmer weather finally here, growing herbs at home can transform your cocktail hour and add a fresh kick to your springtime favorites.

Growing herbs is incredibly easy and can be done in a variety of ways—from a container in a window, to a planter box in the yard. With a container or garden full of fresh herbs, you will be ready to take your cocktails up a notch.

Basil is a bright herb that is easy to grow and perfect for cocktails. Make sure to harvest immediately before mixing drinks and take leaves from the top to ensure a continual harvest. Fresh muddled basil leaves lend a crispness to the Gin Basil Cucumber cocktail.

Sage is easy to grow and does well in containers. The leaves add an earthy freshness to a refreshing cherry-infused Bourbon.

Mint is also easy to grow, but give it lots of room, as it likes to spread out and is virtually indestructible in the garden. Mint is a versatile herb but is especially lovely in the Rhubarb Mint Mojito.

Try recreating these refreshing cocktails with herbs grown at home and take your cocktail game to new heights!

Aesthetic Care Results-Driven

FORT WORTH MEDSPA PROVIDES TAILORED AESTHETIC SOLUTIONS, OFFERING PATIENTS CONVENIENT ACCESS TO EXPERT CARE

When Dr. Robert Anderson, a board-certified plastic surgeon, founded Fort Worth Plastic Surgery thirty-eight years ago, he recognized that treating the skin in conjunction with surgical procedures provides better outcomes. Keeping this in mind, he has consistently had an aesthetician as part of the practice’s team.

Over the years, the practice has continued to expand med spa services and now offers six med spa providers at the Fort Worth location and one provider at the Weatherford location through Fort Worth MedSpa. With this expansion, patients have easier access to services and the added convenience of having services close to home.

“EVERYTHING WE DO IS VERY CUSTOMIZED. WE LISTEN TO THE PATIENT AND THEIR CONCERNS, THEN GIVE OUR EXPERT RECOMMENDATIONS.”

The entire aesthetic team works together to ensure patients have the best experience and outcomes by creating customized treatment plans. “Knowing that aesthetic treatments are a journey and not a one-time fix-all treatment, we work with patients by taking into consideration their budget, goals, downtime for recovery, and what they are already doing at home,” says Aly Boschert, Business Director. “We are also very honest with patients who are seeking treatment. If it's something that they may not be ready for or they may not see a benefit from, we will be honest and let them know.”

Patients ranging from their early twenties through their eighties benefit from treatments, which are tailored to each person’s exact needs. It all begins with a consultation. ”We sit down with the patient, talk through what they have already been doing, and ask what they want to focus on,” explains Aly. “We explore where they are looking for improvement as well as if they want something aggressive or something minimal that will fit into a busy life schedule.”

Depending on the exact treatment, patients experience recovery options that can range from no downtime needed to several days of downtime. For example, if someone wants instant radiance, a DiamondGlow treatment delivers a luminous glow with zero downtime. Other treatment options include microneedling, facials, skin resurfacing, facials, chemical peels, and laser hair removal.

To help restore facial balance and volume, the med spa offers injectables and facial fillers. “As we age, we lose facial volume. We are also encountering more patients who are losing volume in their face because of weight loss,” says Aly. “By using facial fillers and microneedling, we can help with the overall tone and texture of the skin. Through treatments, we have the ability to create brighter and smoother skin as well as help with pigmentations from sun damage.”

Patients looking to reduce fat can explore body sculpting and contouring services, which are great non-surgical options. CoolSculpting targets specific areas for fat reduction while

CoolTtone helps increase tone in the abdomen or buttocks. “It is also important to note that we are led by our two medical directors, board-certified plastic surgeons, who share the same office suite,” explains Aly. “So we have the ability to work with them as well if it is something that warrants surgical attention.”

As patients benefit from in-office treatments, the team also works with them to set up an at-home routine that integrates medical grade skin care products to ensure the best long-term outcomes. There is also a strong educational component, ensuring patients are fully equipped to make the best decisions for their health and lifestyle.

“Everything we do is very customized. We listen to the patient and their concerns, then give our expert recommendations,” says Aly. “Over time, treatment plans will change, so it is our priority to create lifelong relationships with our patients. We want to be with you from day one and throughout your journey.”

FOUR SIMPLE WAYS TO INVEST IN YOUR MORNING AND START YOUR DAY OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT

habits for morning success

One of the best ways to invest in yourself is by creating a consistent and intentional morning routine. No matter how unpredictable or chaotic the rest of your day may become, starting your morning with self-care and purpose sets a positive tone that stays with you throughout the day.  Once you develop a morning routine that truly resonates with you, you’ll look forward to it every night, knowing it will set the foundation for a productive and fulfilling day.

If you’re ready to elevate your mornings, here are some meaningful ways to invest in your routine and start each day on the right foot.

Be Your Own Barista:

One of life’s simplest pleasures is savoring a homemade coffee each morning. While skipping the drive-thru may be tough at first, brewing your own allows you to appreciate the process—and chances are, you’ll end up preferring your own perfect cup of joe.

Get Your Steps In:

An hour-long gym session before work may not be realistic, but a quick morning walk is. Use this time to clear your mind, enjoy nature, and listen to your favorite podcast or artist—an easy way to start your day feeling relaxed.

Enjoy Some Breakfast:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet often the most overlooked. Setting your alarm just minutes earlier to prepare a fresh, nutritious meal can transform your morning, fueling your body and mind for a more energized and productive day.

Read A Book:

Starting your day with a book is far more calming than scrolling through social media. Reading in the morning helps ease you into the day, providing a peaceful and mindful escape that sets a positive, focused tone for what’s ahead.
