GOOD TIMES

It's Summer -- Is Your Outdoor Area Ready? There are several interesting ways to enhance outdoor spaces for warmer weather. Swimming pools and fire pits provide popular entertainment options. Adding bright pops of color to walkways can brighten any day. Patios yield extra space. Raingardens are great ways to fix runoff water challenges, while also beautifying yards. ARTIST’S PALETTE ADORN GOODS ADDS NEW WAY TO BEAUTIFY DOORS WHILE PROVIDING SAFETY OPTION FOR DOGS AND TODDLERS ARTICLE JULIE BROWN PATTON

Custom Screen Doors NEW, LOCALLY HANDCRAFTED SCREEN DOORS FROM ADORN GOODS ARE PERFECT FOR WATCHING THE WORLD GO BY. Beautiful, custom screen doors by Steve Smith Designs are available for ordering, starting with three styles and glass door interchangeable inserts. Adorn Goods co-owner Jennifer Steiner says the doors are a pleasurable, quick way to freshen one’s home entrance, all while enjoying the various seasons. She says the initial screen doors are sapele hardwood, with prices based on customization. In its original state, sapele is a dark reddish-brown wood with ribbon pattern; it’s actually heavier, stronger and harder than African mahogany. Other screen door materials, such as pine, also can be created. Adorn Goods is a boutique store that creatively combines tableware, gifts, home accessories, gourmet food items, featured artists and artisans. 5712 Kennett Pike, Centerville, Delaware 19807 302.575.9657 AdornGoods.com

Horace left a painting called “The Park Bench” unfinished in his studio at this death in 1946. Fellow artist Romare Bearden said of that painting: “the man, I think, symbolizes Pippin himself, who, having completed his journey and his mission, sits wistfully, in the autumn of the year, all alone on a park bench.” Chester County History representatives indicate they plan to have some of Horace’s more unique pieces on display in West Chester at 225 N. High St.
