REDEFINING MVP: TIM TEBOW'S LIFE BEYOND FOOTBALL

![]()

This month, we explore investment not simply as strategy – but as stewardship.
Our cover story featuring Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow reminds us that purpose is the ultimate appreciating asset. A life anchored in conviction and discipline yields dividends that far outlast any market cycle.

We also look inward – and forward. At LIFT Training in West Bloomfield, fitness is reframed as longevity. Investing in strength today becomes independence tomorrow. It’s not about intensity alone, but about sustainability – a philosophy that resonates in this community that values vitality at every stage of life.
Likewise, at Lifetime Dental, Dr. David Kam and his team are redefining what it means to feel truly cared for, one smile at a time. Investing in dental health is an investment in confidence, wellness and, well, how we show up in the world.
The most refined communities understand this: Real wealth is holistic. It lives in our purpose, our health and the care we extend to one another.
So, here’s to investing wisely – and living well.

An exclusive Q&A with City Lifestyle

ARTICLE BY ANGELA BROOCKERD

From championship trophies to global humanitarian impact, Tim Tebow’s journey has defied every standard playbook. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Tebow pulls back the curtain on the moments that truly defined him, from a humbling middle school church retreat to the life-altering shift of fatherhood. This isn’t just a look back at a career; it’s an invitation into the heart of a man driven by purpose. Read the highlights below, then join us for the full, unfiltered experience by scanning the QR code at the end.

Q: WE ALL KNOW YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, BUT TELL US ABOUT THE CURL CONTEST.
A: I was competing for my future high school team (my brother’s team), and I pushed myself way past what was smart. I ended up collapsing and needing medical attention. But what stayed with me wasn’t the pain, it was the lesson. Would I be willing to do something that others aren’t? For much of my life, I strived to bring my best for a game, but I hope that I can say at the end of my life I was willing to do that for things that actually matter.
Q: YOU’VE ACHIEVED SO MUCH IN SPORTS. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT NOW?
A: Becoming a dad. Nothing compares. From the moment I knew my wife was pregnant, I felt a new depth of love for our child, but when you bring your baby home, the responsibility hits you like nothing else. Suddenly, everything you see, every decision you make, you’re asking, “Is this corner too sharp? What happens if she reaches that drawer?” It changes how you see the world and how you see other people.
Q: YOU’VE SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENT, ESPECIALLY AROUND FOOTBALL. HOW DID THAT SEASON OF LIFE SHAPE YOU?
A: I talked a lot about that very thing in my book Shaken . We all go through moments where our faith in our abilities and purpose feels rattled, but I believe it’s often in those storms when God can show us who we could become.
Q: YOU TALK A LOT ABOUT COMPARISON CULTURE. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE COMPARISON HAS BECOME SUCH A TRAP TODAY?
A: Because we’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel. Social media shows people’s “best day,” often filtered and staged, and then we measure our reality against that. There’s a reason filters are so popular—it’s not real. We end up scrolling through images that don’t tell the full story, and without realizing it, comparison starts to steal our joy and our gratitude.
“We’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel... comparison starts to steal our joy.”
Q: YOUR FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON THE “MOST VULNERABLE.” WHERE DID THAT CALLING BEGIN?
A: When I was 15, I met a boy in the Philippines who was treated as a throwaway because he was born with physical differences. That moment changed me. I realized God was calling me to pursue a different kind of MVP, not “Most Valuable Player,” but “Most Vulnerable People.”
Q: FINALLY, WHAT’S ONE THING PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
A: I have some weird coffee habits, which include protein powder, collagen, and cream all mixed together. I love golf dates with my wife. And every night, I bring snacks to bed to share with our dogs. It brings me more joy than it probably should.
This conversation barely scratches the surface. Tim goes deeper into the moments that rattled him, the joys of fatherhood, and one story he has never shared publicly until now. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on Share the Lifestyle Podcast.

ARTICLE BY SUSAN THWING
When Ryan Kurrle talks about fitness, he rarely frames it as a short-term goal.
“It’s definitely an investment,” he says. “We all invest in 401(k)s and retirement accounts. But if we don’t keep muscle mass on our bodies and keep ourselves mobile, we’re not going to be able to enjoy any of that later.”
Kurrle and his wife, Candice, own LIFT Training in West Bloomfield, where Kurrle approaches health the same way many people approach finances: with long-term thinking, careful measurement and consistency. His philosophy aligns closely with the growing national conversation around longevity and preventive care, including a recent 60 Minutes feature with Dr. Peter Attia, which focused on training for longterm independence and quality of life.
“If we take a little time now and invest in ourselves — our muscle, our mobility — then later we can actually use those investments,” Kurrle says. “Otherwise, you’re spending more time in doctors’ offices instead of doing the things you want to do.”

“CANDICE BRINGS IN A STRONG FEMALE PRESENCE AND ADVOCACY FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH. SHE IS THE GLUE HERE, FOCUSING ON THE DETAILS AROUND THE GYM AND THE COACHES.”
Originally founded by David Sherban and Jess Carr, LIFT opened close to seven years ago. Kurrle came on board as a trainer before he and his wife, Candice, purchased the business nearly two years ago.
“Candice brings in a strong female presence and advocacy for women’s health,” Kurrle says. “She is the glue here, focusing on the details around the gym and the coaches. None of this would be possible without her perseverance and passion for family and community.”
Since the couple purchased the gym, Kurrle has focused on expanding its scope while keeping its core philosophy intact.
“The biggest thing we’ve implemented is that everything we do is science-based,” he explains. “We don’t guess at anything.”
New clients begin with detailed assessments, including body composition testing and movement screenings, through a method founded by doctors. Programs are then adjusted regularly based on results.
“We put the body under stress, and it reacts,” Kurrle says. “That’s true for strength, bone density, mobility — everything. So we measure it, adjust it and keep going.”
In addition to generalized strength and health fitness, LIFT offers nutrition coaching, sports-performance training, including rebuilding after physical therapy, and personalized golf-performance training to target weaknesses and unlock powerful performance.
LIFT works with clients ages 16 and up, with most members between 45 and 65 — although, Kurrle says, “we believe that age is just a number and you can be strong and get stronger at any age.” Training is individualized, whether someone works one-on-one with a coach or follows a customized program through the gym’s small-group format, all easily scheduled on their app.
Each 60-minute session follows a structured format: collective warm-up, coach-led briefing on movements and form, guided workout with ongoing instruction and cool-down for recovery. Workouts vary daily — some emphasize strength training with barbell squats and kettlebell swings, others focus on cardio conditioning or bodyweight movements. Golf performance training helps you move better and play stronger without pain.
“People hire us to get them to a goal,” Kurrle says. “Everything is built around that person.”
For Kurrle, however, results are only part of the story. Relationships matter just as much.
“Connection is almost the most important thing,” he says. “You have to trust your trainer.”
He credits that focus for LIFT’s unusually high member retention.
“I know every member by name,” he says. “We write cards. Everyone gets a birthday gift. Those things say, ‘We care’.”
Kurrle’s own path to fitness leadership was gradual. A former high school swimmer and college weightlifter, he stepped away from training for a time after graduation. When he returned, he noticed how much better he felt, physically and mentally.
“I could handle stress better. I could work harder,” he says.

After earning certifications in personal training and mobility, Kurrle balances coaching with a career as an engineer and his family.
“My driving mindset has always been impact,” he says. “I want to have the largest positive impact on people’s lives.”
Today, that includes mentoring his coaching staff.
“I can only train so many people,” he says. “But if I help our coaches build sustainable careers, they can help even more.”
LIFT is now preparing to expand its wellness offerings, including in-house physical therapy and blood testing through a healthcare partner.
“It’s about self-advocacy,” Kurrle says. “People should know their numbers. They should understand their health.”
He often points to his 96-year-old grandfather, Jack, who still rides his bike and stays active, as proof of what consistent movement can mean.
“He still works out every day,” Kurrle says. “That’s the goal.”
For Kurrle, success isn’t defined by before-and-after photos or quick fixes. It’s measured in durability, independence and the ability to keep showing up for life.
“If you take care of your body now,” he says, “you give yourself more options later.”

DR. DAVID KAM AND HIS TEAM ARE REDEFINING WHAT IT MEANS TO FEEL TRULY CARED FOR — ONE SMILE AT A TIME.
For David Kam, DDS, dentistry has always been about more than clinical skill. It’s about trust, relationships and treating people the way you would want to be treated yourself. That philosophy has guided him for more than three decades and shaped the growth of Lifetime Dental, now serving patients with locations in West Bloomfield, Canton and South Lyon.
“I started dentistry 30 years ago, from scratch,” Kam says. “We focused on great customer care and doing the best dentistry at the best price. By doing that, we grew tremendously.”
“It is rewarding because our patients say ‘wow, this is so much better than I was anticipating.’ A successful case is one where expectations are exceeded, not just met.” — Dr. David Kam

That growth was intentional. Rather than expanding quickly or cutting corners, Kam built Lifetime Dental on consistency and quality, using toptier materials, working with trusted Michigan-based dental labs and investing in advanced technology and training for his team — including general dentists David Banooni, Robin Bernard, Kevin Malerman, Jasmine Sesi and periodontist Shabnam Behdin.
Aware that dental care often begins with hesitation, the practice prioritizes comfort and trust to transform each visit into a positive experience.
“It is rewarding because our patients say ‘wow, this is so much better than I was anticipating’,” he says. “A successful case is one where expectations are exceeded, not just met.”
Nowhere is that philosophy more evident than at Lifetime Dental’s West Bloomfield location, the practice’s largest and most comprehensive office. Kam, a West Bloomfield resident for more than 50 years, has deep roots in the community. He attended local schools and has cared for generations of families who return not just as patients, but as advocates.
That commitment to preservation and personalized care is supported by Lifetime Dental’s integrated, teambased approach.
“What really makes our offices special is our team,” Kam says. “From the front desk to our hygienists and assistants, these are experienced professionals. Many have been with us for 10 or even 20 years.”
A standout member of that team is board-certified periodontist Shabnam Behdin, DDS, whose work has become a cornerstone of the West Bloomfield practice. Behdin is one of the few

periodontists in the area offering advanced laser gum surgery, a minimally invasive alternative to traditional periodontal procedures.
“Laser treatment is much less aggressive and far more comfortable for patients,” Behdin says.
Traditional gum surgery typically involves cutting the gums, removing infected tissue and placing stitches. Laser-assisted procedures, such as LANAP, use focused light energy to remove infection and bacteria without scalpels or sutures, resulting in faster healing, reduced bleeding and significantly less post-operative discomfort.
“With laser treatment, we don’t cut the gums or place stitches,” Behdin, who is certified by the American Board of Periodontology, explains. “It’s a closed approach, and recovery is much easier.”
The benefits are both clinical and personal. Healing often occurs within 24 to 48 hours, with minimal need for pain medication. Behdin estimates that more than 80 percent of patients with gum disease are good candidates for laser treatment, which can also be used to address inflammation or infection around dental implants.
Other periodontal treatments include laser therapy to treat a variety of gum and dental implant diseases, dental implants for the replacement of missing teeth, gum recession and grafting.
Beyond technology, Behdin shares Lifetime Dental’s deeply human-centered philosophy.
“Patients’ welfare, needs and satisfaction are fundamental,” she says. “Education is key. When patients understand their options, they feel empowered and confident in their care.”
That sense of confidence, rooted in expertise, compassion and long-term relationships, is what defines Lifetime Dental. Whether patients are seeking a cosmetic smile makeover, advanced periodontal care or routine preventive services, the experience is designed to feel personal, seamless and reassuring.
As Kam puts it, “We want patients to feel comfortable, understood and confident that they’re receiving the best care possible. That’s what Lifetime Dental is built on.”

How Chuck Vercellone can help you build the life you’ve envisioned.

When Chuck Vercellone talks about financial planning, it’s never just about the numbers.
The longtime Troy-based financial advisor, owner of Wealth Strategies (wsgllc.net) and an Investment Advisor Representative with Osaic Advisory Services, believes that true financial wellness comes from clarity, purpose and relationships built on trust.
“I don’t want to be looked upon as just the financial guy,” he says. “I want clients to turn to me for whatever issues they have going on. It’s not just about how much money you make; it’s about whether you’re on track to live the life you want.” That human-first approach has defined Vercellone’s work for more than four decades.
Since entering the industry in 1984, he’s helped hundreds of clients navigate life’s milestones — sending kids to college, buying their dream home or finally stepping into a well-earned retirement. Yet for him, the heart of the work isn’t about spreadsheets or markets. It’s about dignity.
Chuck’s career is rooted in a deeply personal story. His father, a pencil-and-paper draftsman for a small firm, lost his job in his early 60s when the company was sold. With no pension and only a small IRA, he was forced to take part-time custodial work to make ends meet.
“I believe he aged 10 years that first year,” Chuck says. “I do what I do so my clients never have to go through what my father did. I want them to retire on their own terms and live out their years with dignity.”
That experience became his lifelong motivation — to educate clients early, help them plan intentionally and build a foundation strong enough to weather the unexpected.
Before he ever handled a financial portfolio, Chuck was the assistant manager of the women’s shoe department at Hudson’s in Ann Arbor. A chance call from someone in the financial industry planted a seed, though he didn’t act on it immediately. “I turned him down at the time,” he says. “Four years later, I called him back.”
Starting out with little training, he learned through persistence and real-world experience. Over time, he built a client-focused practice that reflects his values: honesty, education and empathy.
For those hoping to start their own journey toward financial well-being, Chuck’s advice is simple but powerful.
“You’ve got to have goals,” he emphasized. “Without knowing why you’re saving, you’re wasting your time.” He encourages clients to start by building a solid emergency fund — three to six months of expenses — before diving into long-term investments.
“Don’t clean out your bank account to start saving for retirement if you can’t afford to replace the muffler on your car,” he says.
One of his most timeless lessons: Pay yourself first. “When you get paid, make saving your first expense,” he says. “If you wait until the end of the month, there’s never anything left. Even $100 a month adds up. You’ve got to move yourself to the front of the line.”
Away from the office, Chuck finds peace in the simple things — family, music and the occasional round of golf. He cherishes time with two grown daughters and granddaughters.
“They’re three and five now,” he says. “That’s what really drives me.” And while he jokes that he rarely makes it to the golf course, there’s one constant he can’t live without: the sound of music.
“I’ve got it playing all day long,” he says. “Mostly blues, some ’60s and ’70s rock — the good stuff. I can’t always tell you what song just played, but I know when the music stops.”
“It’s not just about how much money you make — it’s about whether you’re on track to live the life you want.”
— Chuck Vercellone
After 40 years in the business, Chuck’s focus has sharpened. He’s learned the power of saying no, the importance of narrowing his practice and the value of surrounding himself with other experts.
“Clients appreciate that my focus is on their financial plan and not on selling products,” he says. “I don’t try to be everything to everybody. I’m a specialist. I do planning and money management. If someone needs insurance or Medicare advice, I’ve got trusted partners for that.”
His advice: “Don’t try to be everything to everyone,” he advises. “Find what you love, focus on that and build relationships with people who share your values.”
For Chuck, success isn’t measured in quarterly statements; it’s measured in gratitude. “When a client who never thought they could retire calls to say, ‘Thank you, you made it possible,’ that’s what fills my tank,” he says.
In a world driven by numbers, Chuck Vercellone brings something rarer to the table: heart. His message is clear — financial wellness isn’t about wealth alone. It’s about confidence, connection and living a life that, like good music, never stops playing.
1. Pay Yourself First. Before you pay the bills, pay you. Even $100 a month makes a difference. “If you wait until the end of the month to save,” Chuck says, “there’s never anything left.” Automate transfers to savings or investment accounts so it happens without thinking.
2. Build Your Foundation. A strong financial plan starts with an emergency fund. Aim for three to six months of expenses in a liquid account. “Don’t invest every dollar you have,” he advises. “If your car breaks down, you don’t want to dip into retirement savings to fix it.”
3. Know Your ‘Why.’ Goals give your money purpose. “If you don’t know what you’re saving for, you’ll lose motivation,” he says. Define what matters most — whether it’s college, retirement or travel — and align your plan with that vision.

MIDWEST MUST-HAVE
“Whether going out casually or running errands, a windbreaker is a must in everyone’s wardrobe. It’s versatile, lightweight and perfect for Michigan’s unpredictable weather.”
THE PERFECT BAG
“This spring, I’m investing in a medium-sized tan suede everyday handbag. It’s the one color I’m missing, and I think it will be the perfect addition to my lighter color palette.”

WHY IT’S WORTH INVESTING
“I’d invest in a beautifully tailored trench coat in a classic length. It’s one of the few pieces that instantly elevates any outfit, from denim to more formal looks. The clean structure at the shoulders and waist adds polish without feeling overdone. It’s not just outerwear; it’s a staple piece.”
CLASSIC WITH A CINCH
“The details on this bag are timeless. It features a classic silhouette that has withstood the test of time, adding a chic yet traditional flair to any outfit.”

A quick guide for simple ideas to start off your backyard kitchen garden. With endless health and medicinal benefits, combined with the beauty and enjoyment to be found, gardening is endlessly rewarding.
• Plant your vegetable options right into your beds with flowers, the pollinators (bees, butterflies and more) are attracted to the beautiful flowers and your veggies will easily and abundantly go-to-fruit, living harmoniously in one bed.
• Every garden needs a rain gauge - you’ll be surprised at how fun it is to check. There is nothing like rain water for your garden. (This is optional, but definitely fun).
• Get your family involved. It’s never too late!
• Just go for it, our local climate can be weird and often extreme but don’t let it stop you- the most success and fun I’ve had was just going for it. Experiment and see what you love and what works best for you!
• In most cases, when watering, don’t water the petals and leaves, (especially when they’re in direct sunlight) try to water straight to the soil. All they need is water, nutrients and light to thrive! (and maybe a little love helps too!)
• Don’t forget herbs: Lavender, Mint, Lemon Verbena, Oregano, Basil, Cilantro, Parsley and more. Don’t be afraid to skip the spice rack and grab your seasoning from the garden.

Whether starting from seed or seedlings, you can’t go wrong with these options. Start with foods you know you like to eat.

They’re delicious, money-saving, good for eating fresh and for preserving. Tomatoes come in endless colors, shapes and sizes. Plant them in a sunny location with well-drained soil, ideally in full sun, and ensure they receive consistent moisture, supporting them with cages or stakes as they grow.

EGGPLANT:
Eggplant is a short season vegetable and a relative of peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and tobacco. It thrives in heat and full sun and can be deliciously made into baba ganoush and many other delicious dishes.

Okra loves our hot summers and full sun. Don’t wait too long to pick your okra, ideally harvesting them when they are 2 to 4 inches long. Can be eaten raw on a salad or best served deep fried. (The flower that turns into the okra itself is uniquely beautiful as well!)

Like tomatoes, peppers have many purposes and variations. Plant them in a sunny location with well-drained soil after the last frost, spacing them 18 inches apart, and provide consistent watering while ensuring the soil doesn’t become waterlogged.
Flowers bring joy to all five of our senses, but they also bring pollinators to our garden in order to ensure your backyard kitchen will produce lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Not to mention they also contain health and even medicinal properties.

Make sure your hibiscus plants, whether tropical or hardy, get at least 6 hours of sun per day in order to achieve optimum blooming. Hibiscus flowers can be made into a delicious tea that can be served hot or ice cold (and is a good source of Vitamin C). With over 200 varieties of hibiscus world wide, their blooms only last a day or two! Stunning in all shapes, sizes and colors.

To the surprise of most people, marigold flowers are edible. Whether used fresh, dried, or infused into various beverages, Marigolds have a multitude of uses in the kitchen. An added benefit of planting these bright and low maintenance flowers next to tomatoes– they help keep pests away from devouring your tomatoes while also encouraging pollinators.

These bright, colorful garden gems have many benefits beyond their beauty and ease of care. Along with attracting pollinators, and being low maintenance they also have medicinal properties. Zinnias have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, they’re rich in antioxidants, and the natural compounds in zinnias can help calm irritated skin and reduce redness.
Plumbago is thought to have many health benefits, such as its anti-ulcer, anti-oxidant, and anti-cancer properties, resulting from its principal chemical components, which are concentrated in the roots, leaves, and stems of plants. This attractive light purple flowering plant thrives in the sun, and has moderate watering needs. Trim and prune to suit your own preferences of growth and it’s a welcome, abundantly beautiful member of any garden.

Does “luxury travel advisor” sound like the title of your dream job?
Kristina Raykinstein confirms that it is, indeed, a dream. She is the founder of KVR Travel Group (kvrtravel.com) in West Bloomfield, a boutique travel agency specializing in custom, high-touch itineraries around the globe, and the wife and mom to two teenage sons who benefit from her passion — her own passport is covered with stamps from 68 countries (and counting).
As a luxury FIT (flexible independent travel) agent, Raykinstein designs and arranges bespoke, high-end travel experiences for individuals and groups, often focusing on personalized itineraries and exclusive access to luxury accommodations, activities and services. From multi-generational adventures through Europe to romantic escapes in the South Pacific and celebratory yacht charters in Croatia, Raykinstein designs trips that are inspiring and deeply personal. Through global relationships with top hotels, guides and experiences, she thrills in catering to clients seeking unique, off-the-beaten-path excursions, prioritizing a seamless, stress-free travel experience.
Here, she gives us a peek into what it’s like to be her.

WEST BLOOMFIELD CITY LIFESTYLE: How did you get started in this industry?
KRISTINA RAYKINSTEIN: I hold a BBA and an MBA with a concentration in finance and originally worked in banking for many years, most recently at Comerica Bank. Travel has always been a passion — something I inherited from my father — but I never imagined it would become my career.
Years ago, I planned trips for my family, and soon friends began asking me to help with theirs, just for fun. But in late 2014, with my youngest starting kindergarten the following fall, I found myself brainstorming what to do next. Surrounded by friends and fueled by curiosity, the idea of becoming a travel advisor came up — and I ran with it. I bought an e-book on ‘How to Become a Home-Based Travel Agent’ that same night.
WBL: Tell us about your company.
KR: To name my company, I put together my initials — KVR (pronounced ‘caviar’) — I knew it was meant to be. I threw myself into learning, found a host agency so I could attend in-person training and haven’t looked back. More than a decade later, KVR Travel Group continues to design exceptional journeys for clients around the world.
Whether planning a milestone celebration, a family adventure or a multi-country escape, I take care of every detail — hotels, transfers, guides, flights, train tickets and special experiences. My role is to make your travel effortless and unforgettable, so you can focus on making memories.
But more than that — I really listen. Every trip I plan is personal. I don’t use preset packages or templates. I create meaningful, one-of-a-kind itineraries that reflect your style and your story. I’m also here for you before, during and after the trip — a real person who knows what’s happening and who genuinely cares.
WBL: What do you offer?
KR: My travelers don’t board big buses — I focus on private or small-group experiences with elevated service and curated details. Europe is a major niche for me, but truly, the world is my playground. A few recent favorite itineraries include a 40-day journey through Australia; an epic French Polynesia escape; a multigenerational family trip across Scotland staying in castles; and custom African safaris for extended families.
• Noise-canceling headphones (a game-changer for flights)
• A lightweight cashmere wrap — works for the plane, chilly restaurants or a glam layer
• Packing cubes (I don’t know how I lived without them)
• A great crossbody bag that zips (a must!)
• An international phone plan — makes life so much easier
• Travel-size steamer
• A power bank and universal adapter (never forget it!)
• I love the app I use for most of my clients (and myself) for the full itinerary, with all the docs attached electronically. Saving this planet one trip at a time!
• Airtags! These have been a game changer in tracking your luggage.
• And of course — champagne for the room

• Naxos, Greece: Skip crowded Santorini and Mykonos. Naxos has charming villages, golden beaches, authentic tavernas and barely any cruise ships.
• Umbria, Italy: Tuscany’s quieter (and more soulful) neighbor. Medieval hill towns, truffle hunts and vineyards with zero crowds.
• Ischia, Italy: The under-the-radar sister to Capri. Gorgeous thermal spas, lush garden and chic seaside hotels — at a fraction of the price.
• The Azores, Portugal: Think Icelandmeets-Hawaii. Volcanoes, waterfalls, whale watching and surreal green cliffs — a paradise for nature lovers.
• Lofoten Islands, Norway: Picturepostcard fishing villages, dramatic fjords and midnight sun magic. Great for adventure seekers or photographers.
• Menorca, Spain: Quieter and more refined than Ibiza or Mallorca. Turquoise coves, elegant boutique hotels and a strong slow-travel vibe.
• Šibenik, Croatia: A coastal gem with Venetian charm, close to Krka waterfalls and great sailing access — without Dubrovnik’s crowds.
• Hokkaido, Japan (in summer): While everyone heads to Tokyo and Kyoto, Hokkaido is stunning in the summer — wildflowers, hiking, seafood and cool weather.
• Puglia, Italy: Think whitewashed villages, olive groves, cliffside beaches and incredible food — all without the Tuscany price tag. Stay in a masseria and explore from Bari to Ostuni to Lecce.
I truly love what I do. Planning meaningful, personalized travel experiences isn’t just a job — it’s a privilege. My clients trust me with their most valuable possession: time. And I don’t take that lightly. I’ll make sure it’s seamless, special and better than you imagined.
WBL: Do you have any favorite destinations?
KR: I always struggle with this question — I love it all: beaches and mountains, cities and deserts. This world is stunning, and I feel like I’ve only just begun to explore it [see Tips: Raykinstein’s Top Hidden Gems, below].
Some standouts? Visiting Peru — Machu Picchu and exploring Lake Titicaca. Antarctica, Italy (I’ve been 12 times and counting), Kenya and Tanzania. I recently returned from Croatia where I experienced a private yacht charter for island-hopping — and I might just have a new favorite.
As of now, I’ve visited 68 countries — and still so many more I want to see. This year, I hope to add at least two new countries and finally check off my last continent. I’m planning a work trip to Morocco in September and a long-awaited family adventure to Australia over the holidays.
I truly believe that to be a great travel advisor, you have to love to travel yourself. Nothing replaces the insight and inspiration that comes from firsthand experience. It’s not always easy to work while I’m traveling, but every trip I take helps me design even better journeys for my clients. And that makes it all worth it.

1. Don’t Chase Every Landmark — Create Moments Instead
You don’t have to ‘do it all’” You’re not collecting checkmarks — you’re collecting memories. Slow down, savor a long lunch, sit at the café where locals linger and give yourself time to fall in love with the place.
2. Book the Private Guide — Always
A well-connected local guide will elevate your experience more than any 5-star hotel ever could. They bring places to life, open doors you didn’t know existed and help you feel the heartbeat of a destination in a way no app ever will.
3. Your Time Is Your Most Valuable Currency Flights can be rebooked. Luggage can be replaced. But your time? That’s non-refundable. Don’t waste it on logistics, lineups or mediocre experiences. Let someone who does this for a living handle it.
4. The Best Tables Aren’t on Google They’re held by hotel concierges, unlocked by relationships and reserved weeks in advance. If you want magic — think private terraces in Santorini or hidden wine cellars in Tuscany — ask your advisor. We know people who know people.

5. Leave Room for Magic
Not every hour of your itinerary needs to be scheduled. The most unforgettable travel moments are often unplanned: a sunset you didn’t expect, a local festival you stumble upon or a shop owner who invites you in for coffee. Build in time for the magic to find you.
6. Always Upgrade the Transfer
It sounds silly — until it isn’t. After a long flight, nothing feels better than being met at the airport by a professional driver with cold water, a clean car and zero stress. You’re worth the ease.
7. Luxury Isn’t Always What You Think
Sometimes it’s a private rooftop breakfast, a sunrise over Machu Picchu with no one around or knowing your entire trip is seamlessly handled before you pack a single bag. True luxury is peace of mind and meaningful experience.
8. Support Local in a Thoughtful Way
Choose experiences that are ethical, immersive and community-based. Dine at locally owned restaurants. Shop at artisan cooperatives. Travel isn’t just about what you take away — it’s about what you leave behind.
9. You Can’t VIP Yourself — But I Can
Perks like room upgrades, early check-in, resort credits and behind-the-scenes access don’t come from booking direct. They come from relationships — and that’s why working with a trusted advisor makes all the difference.
10. Photos Fade. The Feeling Doesn’t.
The goal isn't Instagram. It’s how you felt when you watched the Northern Lights dance across the Icelandic sky. That moment lives forever.
