A Season of Community & Gratitude

The holidays are upon us, and as the spirit of the season fills the air, I can’t help but reflect on the traditions that made this time of year so special growing up. I remember seeing the holiday lights, decorating the tree, and counting down the days until we could celebrate together. Those moments have stayed with me, and now I try to recreate that same magic for my own family.

One thing I love about West Austin during the holidays is the variety of festive events and gatherings that bring out the holiday spirit. The Hill Country Galleria ice rink and the Bee Cave Holiday Market mark the start of the festive season. It’s the perfect opportunity to slow down, enjoy family and friends, and connect with neighbors who share the same excitement.

This month, we’ve put together a holiday guide to make gift shopping simple while celebrating the local businesses that make West Austin shine. From unique finds to festive events, there’s plenty to enjoy close to home. In the spirit of giving, we’re also featuring ways to lend a hand and support neighbors in need. ’Tis the season for something spirited. The Jolly Smash brings a berry-forward burst balanced by mint and lime, while the Hotscotch Cold Brew combines whiskey, coffee, and cream for a sip that warms the season. Hotscotch Cold Brew

INGREDIENTS

• 1.5 oz Hotscotch Whiskey

• ½ oz Triple Sec

• 2.5 oz strong cold brew coffee

• 1 oz heavy cream

• Orange peel for garnish

DIRECTIONS

1. Fill a glass with ice and add whiskey and Triple Sec.

2. Pour in cold brew coffee and stir gently.

3. Slowly pour heavy cream over the back of a spoon to float on top.

4. Garnish with an orange peel twist and serve immediately.

Jolly Smash

INGREDIENTS

• 1.5 oz Iron Wolf Select Bourbon (sub for Iron Wolf Vodka or Gin)

• 1.5 oz berry juice (V8 blueberry/pom or pure blackberry/raspberry)

• ½ oz mint & lime simple syrup

• 3.5 oz black cherry seltzer (or any berry soda)

• 2–3 blackberries

• Mint leaves & lime wheel for garnish

DIRECTIONS

1. Fill a shaker with ice and add bourbon, berry juice, and mint & lime syrup.

2. Shake lightly, then strain into a glass filled with fresh ice.

3. Top with black cherry seltzer.

4. Garnish with blackberries, mint, and a lime wheel.
